~ REVIEW: Chasing Serenity by Eden Butler ~

18513705SynopsisGraduate student Autumn McShane has had her share of heartbreak. She’s been abandoned and betrayed and she lost her beloved mother in a tragic car accident five months ago. That loss damaged her body and fractured her spirit but she’s learning to recover, until her ex-boyfriend returns to town, intent on making her life miserable.

Declan Fraser hates her ex as much as Autumn does, but the last thing she needs is to put her trust in the hands of another man, especially one like Declan: his hard body and lulling Irish accent makes more than a few girls weak-kneed. The talented rugby player is rude and sarcastic, with tattooed, muscular arms and a cocky attitude, but he’s the only one who can help Autumn win an ill-advised bet that, if lost, could cost her more than she’s willing to pay. The reluctant alliance between Declan and Autumn stirs up cravings she doesn’t want to admit, but Declan is a hard man to resist.

Just when Autumn starts letting down her carefully constructed walls to the sexy bad boy, he betrays her when she needs him most. Autumn suspects Declan has secrets, and she is determined to uncover what drove him away from her, even if that means fraternizing with the enemy. But will the truth return Declan to her arms or add to the scars on her heart?

Autumn McShane is a graduate student at Cavanaugh College. She is struggling to move on from a horrific car accident that left her battered and broken and her mom dead. Autumn feels she has known only loss and heartache over the last 8 years of her life, with the abandonment of her father at age 14, a controlling boyfriend that left her to pursue his own dream and then the most recent trauma of witnessing her mom’s death.
Even though she seems to have a lot of negative in her life, Autumn 3 really great friends that are with her through everything and share her love of rugby. Then she meets a hot, new rugby player for Cavanaugh College who has just come over from Ireland, Declan Fraser.
From the moment of the drunken kiss Declan lays on her, Autumn is thrown off balance, and starts to change her mind about not opening up to any new relationships. From experience, she only ends up hurt in the end. Every time Autumn tries to keep her wall up against Declan, he does something funny and endearing to take another chip out of the wall.

Declan has also suffered the loss of his mother and understands the pain Autumn is going through. He also helps Autumn to become physically stronger after the car accident. Just as things are really starting to progress for Autumn and Declan, there is a twist in the story that can end any possibility of a future for the two. Can Autumn move beyond the heartache she has suffered through all these years and embrace a future with Declan? Will Declan be able to convince Autumn that love is worth the risk?
This is a really great story about moving past great loss and tragedy and opening up to love again. Eden Butler is very descriptive in her writing and giving the reader a full picture of the story even though the story is only in Autumn’s POV. This is the first book in a series, however it does not end in a cliffhanger. Autumn’s friends have plenty of personality and I will definitely be reading the rest of the series to see what happens to them. I would definitely recommend this book to others!

“Good because that’s exactly where we’re going.”

Never in her wildest nightmares did Seraphina see herself taking refuge in the underworld. Cole, however, should have seen it coming. Unfortunately, residing in a realm where the vilest of depravity thrives only adds to Cole’s problems. Now he must keep Sera safe from not only her kind, but his debauched brethren as well. Even Cole’s demon-half has become more volatile, the constant subjection to evil taking its toll. His world is no place for an angel. He needs to find a solution so he can get her the hell out of there.

And he needs to find it fast.

4.5 stars

My Demon Determined picks up right where the first book ended with Cole and Sera on the run from Sera’s brethren who want her to return home with them. What better place for Cole to hide her than the underworld, a world that Cole didn’t want to return to. His dislike for the underworld can be seen when he thinks to himself, “Welcome back to Hell. Population: infinity-and beyond.” He and Sera soon strike a bargain with his master for her protection, but they both know the debt will be steep. The longer they stay there, they realize Sera may not be safe at all, either from the underworld creatures, Cole’s master, or Cole’s demon side that is determined to take over him completely. So, they embark on a dangerous journey in which they think will result in their freedom.

This second book was different from the first one for me. Yes, the scorching chemistry is still there between the angel and demon, but this story is more developed and descriptive. For instance, the areas of hell are very vivid. As the authors used readers’ senses to engage them in the sensuality between the couple, they engage those same senses to give them a real, raw, disgusting look at Hell. I was as disgusted and scared as Sera was when she confronted by the different creatures she encountered. Like Sera, I wanted to vomit when the dining area was described. I felt as stifled and morose as she did. Then, when Cole redid their room to depict a beautiful beach, the descriptions were so vivid that you could smell and taste the salt and sand. Of course, I fell more in love with Cole and Sera. They make the perfect couple who complement each other beautifully.

My Demon Determined was a great addition to the series. Again, readers are left with a bit of a cliffhanger but not where the couple are concerned, but it ends perfectly with the set up for another adventure for Cole and Sera. I can’t wait to see where the next adventure leads me. If you have read the first one in the series, you need to get this one. If you haven’t met Cole and Sera, you really should…get the first book, My Decadent Demon!

Michele's Review4 StarsI wanted to start off by saying I LOVE CHASE SUMMERS!! He is sexy as sin and the sweetest guy EVER!

This book was an interesting read. I wasn’t sure what I was going to get into, but it sure wasn’t what the book I was thinking about. Holy hell some of the stuff that Veronica went thru was absolutely heart breaking. Though at times she seems pretty whiney, you definitely see her as a strong woman to do what she did.

Veronica made a bet with the wrong person 4 years ago and ever sense then her live has been nothing put pain. But after she finds out she’s pregnant she decides she needs to leave her situation now to help save her unborn child. This is when everything goes to shit.

After witnessing a fatal incident, Veronica heads to the only place she ever really felt at home. Back to her grandmothers. This is where she meets up with the Summer boys (who are all unfairly drop dead gorgeous) after 4 long years. This is also when she see Chase, the lost love of her life, since she broke up with him.

While Chase and the other Summer boys try to drag information from Veronica, they are horrified to know that she went through that and they weren’t there to help her. Chase is determined to keep Veronica and her unborn at his side. He’ll do ANYTHING to prevent Veronica from going back to where she was before.

Veronica’s past finds her and is looking to take her back and show her how much of a naughty girl she’s been. She’s petrified, and this is when the Summer boys and even little ole grandma steps in.

Will they be able to keep Veronica, her baby and everyone safe? Or will Veronica end up going back to what she ran away from?

I really enjoyed reading this book! It was hard for me to put this down so that I could do actual work. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book with Trey Summers..

Michele's Review5 starsHoly hot sauce!! This book is smoking!! After this book, I’m going on the hunt for other books by Nikki Sex because she has just reached my Top 10 favorite authors! I love books that can incorporate a fantastic story and have some hot sex in there as well!

Nikki does a fantastic job of creating the backstory of the characters without it being to lengthy. She draws you into the story and makes you feel as the characters are feeling and I love that in a book. She makes you fall in love with her characters, be they the main characters or supporting ones.

If you are looking for a book that gives you more insight into BDSM (with things that actually happen in a BDSM relationship that is) this book will help you better understand. BDSM isn’t just about dominance over someone or submitting yourself to your DOM. It’s about the relationship that they share, and the trust that they have to have in each other. I have a feeling that all of Nikki’s other books show this same thing and I can’t wait to read them!

This story is about Andre and Emily. Emily has always wanted to be with Andre, only she never knew what she would be getting herself into. After making a whole new identity for herself she goes out and finds where Andre has been hiding all these years. After she finds him she finally gets what she wants, but will it last? The main thing Andre wants from a person is honesty, when he finds out what Emily did just to be with him, will he ever be able to forgive her?

I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves steamy scenes that make you need to change your panties after reading them! This book is very well written and does have some humor in it as well. Like I said, I’ll be hunting down Nikki Sex’s other books because I just fell in love!

Michele's Review4 StarsI really enjoyed this book. I haven’t read the others in the series, so I missed some of the background of the characters. With saying that, I was still able to have a good idea about what was happening in the story.

Blake and Naomi are fated mates that can’t truly be together because they are a part of rival packs. They try to meet up when they can, but with what is going on between all the packs, it’s making it hard and hard for them to be together.

Blake has been almost begging Naomi to run away with him, but as she always reminds him, they have duties to their packs. Blake is a part of the head council and Naomi’s job is to protect her pack. Will they ever be able to have their eternal bond like they are meant to? Or will they forever be sneaking off to have stolen moments with each other?

Though Blake and Naomi had a lot of obstacles in their way, you are constantly rooting for them to finally be together.

Though the story is truly about Blake and Naomi, you also get some side plots from the other characters that are still entertaining and don’t pull away from Blake and Naomi’s story.

If you are love to read paranormal books and love some steamy scenes this is the book for you! I’m definitely going to go back and read the other books in the series 🙂

This is a sweet, romantic novella about Grayson, a hot cowboy, and Tanley, a cute bakery owner.  Grayson runs a charity, Ride for a Cure, for children with Autism, including his niece.  He is preparing for his annual auction to fund the charity as well as research for a cure for Autism and needs some desserts and ends up in Tanley’s bakery, Sweet Treats.  Tanley loves the idea of the charity and agrees to donate the baked goods for the auction.  While going over the plans for what is needed, Tanley and Grayson make a personal connection and soon after their first meeting, go on a date.  The relationship between Tanley and Grayson seems to blossom from there.

This is a quick, easy read that stays sweet from beginning to end.  There is plenty of heat and passion between Tanley and Grayson that makes this book enjoyable.  I would recommend this book if you are looking for something sweet and light without any angst.

~ REVIEW: My Decadent Demon by Alicia Dawn & Nikita Jakz ~

20766580SynopsisSeraphina Orielle, an angel of divine fire and light, was also an oracle of foresight. Considered adolescent among her peers, she had yet to master her gift of precognition when her first vision came to pass; a captivating male whose destiny was intimately intertwined with her own. Yet he was not of angelic design. In fact, he was very far from it. Tragically, by the time Sera discovered this pivotal detail, he had already attained ownership of her heart.
But not her ability to flee…
A hundred years later and Cole Asteroth does whatever the hell he wants. When he’s not busy, that is, with ‘dirty deeds, done dirt cheap’ for his master. Ornery and sarcastic, he gets his kicks wreaking havoc in the human realm. Oh, and making very un-angelic women beg for his touch. Life is good…
Until fate catches up with him.
A few weak moments, one too many innocent visitations and the two are entangled all over again. But things are much more complicated now. And Cole no longer possesses much in the way of faith and forgiveness.
As the estranged lovers struggle with what path to take, they quickly discover that destiny, too, is a reluctant second chance provider. As outside resistance and decadent captivity ensues, can their situation get any more exasperating?

Christie's Review4.5 starsWOW!!!! Who knew a love story between an oracle and a demon could be so HOT? As I began My Decadent Demon, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. However, after reading the first few paragraphs, I was hooked.

Seraphina, Sera, is an oracle in training who has the gift of foresight, and one of the first visions she sees is a sexy as sin demon, Cole. However, she doesn’t know he is a demon; she just knows that his destiny is linked to hers. She sets off to find him in the human world, and he is even more spectacular in person. When the two meet, they begin a sexy, torrid affair until she realizes what he truly is. Of course, her being an angel and him being a demon would never work in her eyes, so she leaves him. Fast forward 100 years later, and she hasn’t been able to forget him. Meanwhile, he has been living half a life without his angel. She hunts him down again, and they pick up where they left off with Sera professing her love for him. Of course, fate intervenes, and they have some major obstacles to overcome. Will they be able to overcome their two very different backgrounds to find their own HEA?

This book has to be one of the most sensual reads I have read. Both of these writers have a talent in engaging the senses which draws the reader deeper into the story. They use such lines like these.

“He could still taste her on his tongue, could smell her exotic scent mingling with the chocolate.”

“Inching closer she leaned in, savoring his voice as he spoke. It was like soft, warm velvet rubbing across her skin.”

“Her lids slid closed as she inhaled his scent. Oh Heavens, he smelled raw and wild and intoxicating. Like thunderstorms and forest fires and the finest ambrosia.”.

And I don’t think I will ever look at candy and chocolate the same way again after their hot session in the kitchen. WOW!!!!

There wasn’t one thing I disliked about the characters. Sera is one unique angel. There is a sweet innocence to her, but yet she does have this naughty side that Cole is an expert at bringing out. Cole is one hot domineering demon. All he has to do is look at Sera, and she is putty in his hands, and he is excellent with those hands! As readers will see, he may be a demon, but he certainly has a human man’s heart. They seem to bring out the best in each other, and they are a couple you are really rooting for. You want them to end up together even though they are from two very different worlds and have so much to overcome to find happiness. I will say it again. The sex scenes are UNBELIEVABLY HOT!!!

Borrowing one of Sera’s quotes, “Sweet stars above,” this one fantastic, steamy, sensual book. I do have the sequel already on my Kindle. As I finish this review, I will be headed back into the sensual world of Sera and Cole to see where the two lovers are headed next. If you are in the mood for a sexy love story with great characters, I would highly recommend this one.

Synopsis

No Regrets is a STAND ALONE New Adult novel

Henry broke Zadie’s heart once, is she fool enough to let it happen again?

It’s not like she has a history of making good choices. In fact, she has a history of making terrible choices. Her biggest regret? Henry. He’s sexy, sweet and willing to do what it takes to get another chance, but does he deserve it?

Hot summer days and warm, tension-fueled nights set the backdrop for Zadie and Henry as they navigate the landmines of their past, present and future.

Danielle's review

Untitled

This book is about moving on from the past and enjoying the college years.  Zadie and Henry are both college students at the same university.  They went to the same high school and were on the swim team together and even though they flirted with each other during that time, never hooked up.  Zadie feels she was wronged by Henry in high school because he told other people he was going to ask her to prom and then he didn’t, so she had to find another date at the last minute.  During college, Zadie and Henry reconnect during a summer lifeguard job and realize they both still have feelings for each other.  Zadie is hesitant to act on those feelings because she is still feeling bitter about high school.  Henry wants to give a real relationship a try with Zadie.  Can Zadie move on from what happened in high school and have a relationship with Henry?  Will Henry let Zadie down like he did in high school?

This book is a light, fluffy read.  It includes some typical college behavior; crazy frat parties, drinking and smoking weed and having sex in wild places.  I would recommend this book if you are looking for something light with a sweet HEA after a book hangover.

michele review 4 stars

I will also apologize how all over the place this review is, but that’s kind of how the book left me when I was finished.

I will start off by saying; I really HATED Finnley in the first book. Even though he is sexy as sin, he absolutely pissed me off; and if he was real, I’d probably kick him in the balls. But after reading this book, he has definitely grown on me.

I really liked how in this book, you got to see through Finnley’s eyes. I think that’s what helped the most to understand how he worked. You also got to see a completely different side of him that we never saw in the first book.

This story starts off where Weak with Him left off (so if you haven’t read that one yet, you need to). Now here I was still pretty pissed at Finnley, and it carried over with how he treated Jennifer after their hot night of explosive sex. After pretty much being told that she was Finnley’s “greatest kept secret” Jennifer decided she was out of there. Well wouldn’t you be if the man you were falling for didn’t want anyone to know that you were together?

But as always Jennifer falls back into FInnley’s arms after he comes after to and tries to start again.

Throughout the book, you pretty much are taken on the emotional roller coaster that is Jennifer Downs. She is in love with Finnnley (but doesn’t realize it) and isn’t sure what to do with her feelings. However after a series of incidents she finally realizes that no matter what, she can’t live without Finnley. He is the air that she breathes, and with out that, she is weak.

Finnley.. Awwww Finnley, I like you sooo much better after this book! You really don’t know how much he holds back until you actually get to see his POV. And what he does for Jennifer at the end, totally proves that he isn’t the total ass I thought he was.

Towards the end of the story there is a huge WTF moment. At first, you wonder: “why did she do this? It doesn’t make any sense with what’s going on in the story” But after you think about what job Finnley holds and look back into what happened before this point, it makes sense (Sorry guys, I not sure exactly sure what to say about that without giving to much away). At this point you get to see how much of a bad boy Finnley really is (and this makes him even hotter)..

After everything that they have to go through, do Finnley and Jennifer finally break down each other walls so that they can be together? Or do they keep playing the cat and mouse game that could end up totally ruining their relationship forever?

I will say, I’m pretty excited to see what happens next with Finnley and Jennifer in No Longer Weak!
