Perfect body. Perfect car. Perfect life. So, what could a girl like that ever want from a guy like me? The guy with holes in his sneakers. The guy who can barely afford to eat. The guy with an unexpected secret. What could a princess like that want from me? After all fairy tales don’t exist in real life…do they?
Connor is a young, single father of a beautiful little girl named Makayla, or as he calls her, “Mak.” He is going to school and working hard to provide a better future for his daughter and himself. He doesn’t have time for the fun things that others his age are doing and makes sacrifice after sacrifice because he knows his daughter is worth every single one.
Gianna seems to have it all on the outside: beauty, money, no responsibilities. But on the inside, Gianna is a lonely girl with no friends who struggles just to make it through each day. When Connor and Gianna are paired up for an assignment, it seems these two will have absolutely nothing in common. However, once the barriers are broken down, the pair soon realize they may just be exactly what the other needs.
This story is different than anything I have read before. I have read other stories of teenage pregnancy and young mothers, but not a teenage father. Gianna wasn’t an easy person to like in the beginning but she made such a turnaround and I couldn’t help but love her. Connor was a great father to Mak and their relationship was so sweet. Overall, a fantastic story that made me feel so many emotions and I loved every page!!
“It’s not about the castle or the dresses, the villains, or scenery. It’s about having faith in letting life lead you where you want it to go. In reality, we all get a Happily Ever After, it just depends on where you decide to stop the story.”
OMG!!! What an emotional, magical story the talented Xavier Neal has given us. It’s no secret that I am a HUGE fan of Xavier and her men in the Havoc and Senses Series, and now I am a fan of her new man, Connor. Cinderfella is different than her other series, but it’s also just as good! Connor is still in high school, but he’s also a single father to his 2 ½ year old daughter, Mak. He has lost so very much in his life, and his daughter is his one bright spot and everything he lives for. He has no time for anything else until Gianna waltzes into his life. He is partnered with her in his theater class. His hope is to win a scholarship that will help him make his and Mak’s life better. However, the two mix like oil and water even though there is an underlying attraction between them. They couldn’t be more different. She is rich and given everything, and he is poor and works for every little thing he gets. But, appearances can be deceiving, and the two may have more in common than they think.
This is an awesome twist on Cinderella yet deals with very serious issues. Neal has taken the story of teenage pregnancy and turned it on its head. The roles have been reversed. Instead of a young mother, we have a young father who is working very hard to meet his responsibilities. It was nice to see a male as the lead, and it shows the importance of a father in a child’s life. As a mother to two teenage sons myself, I loved the positive image Xavier gives to men. Gianna has her own issues to deal with as well, and the transformation she undergoes is unbelievable. They are a couple you just want to make it despite all of their challenges. They both really pull at your heartstrings…my favorite kind of romance.
Let me say…I wish I could live in Xavier Neal’s mind for just a little while. She continues to amaze me with her writing skills. She has moved into something different than her New Adult stories and has done it flawlessly. No, there wasn’t the sexy love scenes that Logan from her Senses Series has made legendary. However, there was sexual chemistry between Connor and Gianna, and it was just as sexy, and it gave me just as many butterflies in my stomach as Logan and Maxx do. If you haven’t discovered Xavier Neal yet, do yourself a favor and enter her magical world. I can honestly say I haven’t read anything by her that I haven’t loved. She has proven that she is a writer who can write across genres very successfully. Thanks, Xavier, for a romance that deals with some very heavy issues yet you have made it a magical journey!
I’m not even sure where to begin with this review. I don’t know how many times I’ve started writing something, but then just trashed it because it doesn’t do this book justice. So if you take ANYTHING away from this review, just make note that this book is a MUST READ!
I have to say that Connor is simply amazing and awe inspiring! He’s a single dad at a very young age and he does such an amazing job at taking care of his little girl. He sacrifices so much just to make sure she is happy, and that’s just only one of the many things that will make you fall in love with Connor. You’ll need to read this book to see how really amazing he is!
Gianna is something else. I didn’t really like her in the beginning, but you eventually start to understand her. She’s definitely your stereotypical spoiled rich kid. She’s partied and done all sorts of drugs, and pretty much gets anything she could ever ask for. However the one thing she really wants and needs, is the only thing she never gets.
These two are thrown together for a project in their drama class, and things start to get interesting when they spend more and more time together.
The more time their together, the more their wanting to take things forward. The only thing is though, they both have secrets their unwilling to share. Will they ever cross that barrier and be able to put trust in each other?
Their secrets aren’t the only thing that gets in there way. Gianna is used to having all the money in the world. Connor works himself to the bone just to make sure his daughter has everything that she needs. How can he make Gianna happy if he can’t give her what she’s accustomed to? I mean, money is what makes everyone happy right?
These two have many hurdles in their young lives. Will they be able to face each hurdle together and break them down? Or will they let these hurdles break them apart?
This book has definitely become one of my favorite books from Xavier! It’s simply amazing how she has this amazing ability to bring her characters to life in each and ever one of her stories!
