One day Persephone is an ordinary high school junior working at her mom’s flower shop in Athens, Georgia. The next she’s fighting off Boreas, the brutal god of Winter, and learning that she’s a bonafide goddess-a rare daughter of the now-dead Zeus. Her goddess mom whisks her off to the Underworld to hide until Spring.
There she finds herself under the protection of handsome Hades, the god of the dead, and she’s automatically married to him. It’s the only way he can keep her safe. Older, wiser, and far more powerful than she, Hades isn’t interested in becoming her lover, at least not anytime soon. But every time he rescues her from another of Boreas’ schemes, they fall in love a little more. Will Hades ever admit his feelings for her?
Can she escape the grasp of the god of Winter’s minions? The Underworld is a very nice place, but is it worth giving up her life in the realm of the living? Her goddess powers are developing some serious, kick-butt potential. She’s going to fight back.
From start to finish, this book had me hooked! This was the first book I’ve ever read from Kaitlin Bevis, but it most definitely won’t be my last! She did such an amazing job of relating you to the characters and making you fall in love with them!
I’ve read other books with the Hades and Persephone story line, but I think I like this book more than the rest. Though the other books were for adults and had some steamy scenes, I liked this one better because you get to watch Hades and Persephone build they’re relationship. It’s nice to see characters connect without the steamy scenes.
Persephone is a normal 16 year old girl, or so she thinks. She’s been having the feeling that someone is following her and weird things have been happening around her. When she finally breaks down and tells her mom Demeter about what’s been happening, her mom tells her she’s a Goddess. She’s got to be crazy or something right? Gods and Goddess don’t really exist!
After Hades saves Persephone from an almost tragic incident, she’s now stuck in the Underworld where her mom and Hades deem her the safest. Persephone finally realizes that her mom has been telling the truth, but now what does she do with this knowledge?
The time in the Underworld has been very educational for Persephone, she’s finally starting to come into herself, and she may be falling for the sexy God of the Underworld. I mean how can you not? He’s gorgeous, and seems to really care about what happens to his people, he’s nothing like she thought he would be.
Hades is trying to keep Persephone safe from Boreas (the God of Winter), though she tends to make that a little hard. Persephone tends to wander to places she shouldn’t and has a few incidents. However, though she’s come to love the Underworld, once she finds out one of her loved ones is in danger, she’ll do anything to save them.
Will Persephone be able to save the one she loves? Or will she end up in the ends of the enemy and forced to do on Gods know what?
As I said before, I LOVED this book! I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book and see what happens next with Hades and Persephone! I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good YA read, and also enjoys some mythology. Seriously, check this book out, you won’t be disappointed!
