~ REVIEW: With Visions of Red (Broken Bonds #2) by Trisha Wolfe ~

This is a dark erotic thriller intended for adult audiences.

The UNSUB has made contact.

After a rapid string of grisly murders shakes the usually peaceful city of Arlington, Virginia, the sadistic killings of young women lull into a deceptive calm. Agent Sadie Bonds knows the terror isn’t over; serial killers don’t stop until caught.

And this sadist has targeted the profiler, revealing pieces of her dark past and weaving her secrets into each gruesome crime scene. Is the killer someone from Sadie’s past, her present? Or is he part of a fated future she brought on herself? The answer lies within the riddle of the copycat killings, ones mimicked after the infamous Blood Countess.

As tension brews in the department awaiting the UNSUB’s next move, Sadie’s more than on edge—her deviant cravings for the possible perpetrator have ratcheted out of control. She needs the feel of Colton’s ropes binding her, sheltering her from stark reality.

Only Colton Reed has his own twisted secrets that threaten to unravel not only Sadie as they come to light, but the UNSUB’s carefully constructed web now entangling both the profiler and her sexy bondage rigger.

This book was beyond phenomenal! I thought Book 1 in the series was great, but this one was even better! It’s one of my top picks for 2015!!!

The book picks up pretty much where Book 1 ended, with many people under suspicion for being the depraved serial killer. Most of the book is the pursuit of finding the killer before he kills more. There are some steamy sex scenes, but again, it was more than just sex. They are erotic, yet very beautiful and emotional. It’s more than just two bodies connecting, but two damaged souls finally finding their other half. Readers will also get a deeper look into Sadie’s, Colton’s, and the UNSUB’s pasts, and they are somehow connected to one another, but readers don’t know how yet. As some of my questions were answered, more came up. What is Colton hiding? Can he finally free Sadie from her horrific past? And of course, who in the world is this vicious, yet highly intelligent killer? Is there more than one? Who will survive?

Trisha Wolfe is a genius!!!! This series is so dark yet so beautiful…it’s all in the way she writes…it’s not just words, it elicits all sorts of emotion, almost like poetry! Her UNSUB actually describes her writing for me when he talks about his game and his victims or pets as he likes to call them. For example, he says, “building tension is what transforms a good story into a great one,” and Trisha Wolfe has mastered the art of using tension to make this not a good book but a GREAT ONE!!! I couldn’t flip the pages fast enough. And, one other weapon in her arsenal is the twists she throws in. Again, using the UNSUB’S words, “a great story needs a twist, once your characters are in place, that’s when it’s time to flip a switch,” and my God did Wolfe flip a switch at the end with that cliffhanger. AWESOME!!!! I cannot wait to see Wolfe’s “final production” in the last book which is now available, thank God, I don’t have to wait for it!!!
