~ REVIEW: A Lover’s Lament by K.L. Grayson & BT Urruela ~

In a matter of seconds my entire world changed, and it was in that moment that I stopped living and simply began to exist.

In my grief, I sent a letter to the first boy I ever loved. I hoped in writing it I’d find some peace from the nightmare I was living, some solace in my anger.

I didn’t expect him to write back. I wasn’t prepared for his words, and I certainly wasn’t ready for the impact this soldier would have on my life. A deep-rooted hate transformed into friendship, and then molded into a love like I’d never known before.

Sergeant Devin Ulysses Clay did what I couldn’t: he put the shattered pieces of my heart back together, restoring my faith in humanity and teaching me how to live again.

But now that I’m whole, I have a decision to make. Do I return to my life as I knew it and the fiancé I left behind, or do I walk away from it all for the only man to ever break my heart?

I’ve been living in hell, but you won’t hear me complain.

These men depend on me, as I do them, and this brotherhood is the only family I’ve ever known.

The Army saved me from a callous mother and a life on the wrong side of the tracks that was quickly spiraling out of control. So unlike most of the men in my platoon, going home wasn’t something I longed for.

I was content overseas, spending my days defending this country that gave me my life back. Fighting became my new normal … until her.

A letter from Katie Devora—a letter that I almost didn’t open. Her words put a fire back inside of me that I didn’t know I’d lost. She gave me hope during a time when I was fighting every day just to stay alive, and now it’s time I fight for her.

5 star a

I’m not quite sure how to express how much I LOVED this book except to say it’s one of the most beautiful and emotional books I’ve had the pleasure to read! It’s a story that perfectly illustrates the meaning of unconditional love and not wavering in that love no matter what life decides to throw your way.

I will only give a short synopsis of the book, as I don’t want to spoil anything for those readers who haven’t had the chance to read it. Katie and Devin were best friends, and then realized as teenagers they were in love with each other. However, the two came from two very different backgrounds. Katie was very fortunate to have loving, supportive parents. Devin’s mother was an addict who did everything in her power to tear her son down. Eventually, those two different backgrounds separated the two lovers. Katie was devastated as was Devin, and there was never any closure. But, life went on for both of them. Katie has suffered a horrible loss, and she isn’t dealing well with it. Her therapist advises her to participate in a pen pal program with soldiers in the Middle East. Little does she know her life is about to change in unimaginable ways…she will be reunited with Devin. As the two correspond with each other, old feelings that never died re-surface. Will they be able to get their HEA this time?

Katie and Devin are characters that I will never forget! They are realistic and full of flaws, but I loved them anyway. Her pain is so incredibly raw in the beginning of the book that my heart hurt for her. Devin pulled me into his emotions as well when I witnessed the horrible aspects of war as he did and when he suffered losses. The writing was so incredibly descriptive of his time in the Middle East. I could feel the oppressive heat and hear the gunshots and weapons. The secondary characters were very well-developed and complex as well. In fact, they added to the story.

Military romances are my favorites, but this book is different for me. It will forever stand out among the others I have read. The love story between the two is one of the main aspects of the book, but it also gives readers an insight into what our military is doing over there and the incredible sacrifices they make. It was unreal seeing some of those things through Devin’s eyes. It gave me more of an understanding of what they face when they return home.

Again, I don’t think I can come up with the right words to express how wonderful this book truly was. K.L Langston and BT Urruela make one heck of a writing team. Thank you both so much for not only a beautiful, emotional romance but also for giving me a better understanding of the true sacrifice our women and men in uniform and their families give our wonderful country! I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series.

 Marie James

Marie James, full-time working mother of two boys and wife of 11 years. I’ve spent almost my entire lifetime living in central Texas, with only short stays in South Carolina, Alabama, and Florida. I’ve always wanted to write novels and just recently had the gumption to sit down and start one. My passions include reading everything under the sun and sewing.

Psychosis is the 5th book I’ve released with another release planned in January of 2016. This FanFiction started off as just a simple idea and has turned into an amazing way to help a little girl who’s battling cancer! Matthew has been gracious enough to allow us to portray him in this story and have a little fun with it!

Gina Sevani

Gina Sevani was born and raised in beautiful South Carolina. She learned quickly that

she had mad love for reading romance, paranormal and everything in between.

One night, as she was trying to fall asleep fictional characters popped into her head and would not leave. Day after day she was running dialogue and creating stories while trying to perform daily tasks. Those amazing characters wanted to be heard.

As time passed, she kept them at bay convinced she didn’t have the ability to be an “Author”. But late one night, she sat down at the computer, deciding to see if her characters could come to life on the pages. When she finally took a deep breath, thousands of words filled the pages. Those incredible words gave her the courage she needed. They lead to both of her novels, Beautifully Damaged and Beautifully Devoted.
