Jagger York is the sexy, confident lead singer of a popular band who plans to take his music to the next level. Mali Greyson is a sheltered good girl who has her sights set on the gold–Olympic gold. Their paths would’ve never crossed until a mutual friend introduces them one summer night.
Jagger can give Mali the one thing she secretly wants and desperately needs–the courage to be a little wild and crazy. Mali can give Jagger the one thing he desperately seeks–access to her father, a well-known, music producer.
The deal is they both walk away at the end of the season. No strings, no regrets, and no looking back. This agreement is supposed to last for just one summer. But this one summer may just turn out to be too hot to handle.
Fantastic, quick, sexy read! When I read a novella, I sometimes feel as if the story is incomplete. I know they are short stories, but at times, it feels like there isn’t enough detail in them. However, that was not the case with this one. There is so much detail and great characterization within the 177 or so pages of this book!
Jagger is a member of an up and coming band in Miami. So, of course, he’s a player. He’s only interested in sex, not a relationship with a woman, that is, until he meets Mali in the club where his band performs. Their first meeting is taut with sexual chemistry and attraction, but Mali is not the normal girl he goes for, she a lot more. The two are complete opposites. He’s a carefree rocker, and she’s a dedicated athlete who is training and hoping to become a diver on the US Olympic team. Jagger has plenty of experience with the opposite sex; Mali, not so much. But, she wants to change that, and she proposes that Jagger help her become the female version of him…but only with him. In return, she will give a copy of his CD to her father, a famous music producer, and it’s only for the summer? Really…what could go wrong with a proposition like that? Maybe they actually fall in love?
I loved the pace of the story; it was quick and packed some great sex scenes. However, it wasn’t just sex. A good portion of the book was about their developing feelings for one another. I fell for Jagger just like Mali, despite his player ways. The two really balanced the other. They were two halves, him the bad boy rocker and her the disciplined athlete, who together, became a whole. But, there was a lot of tension and bumps in the road to happiness, but it was a pleasure to go along for the ride!
I’ve only recently discovered A.D. Justice, but I’ve quickly realized what a talented, versatile writer she is. She writes sexy romantic suspense, steamy contemporary romance, and even touches on some important, sensitive social issues in the process. Her series are different from one another, but I always love the story and the characters. She knows how to develop a plotline and characters that pull her readers into the book. If you haven’t discovered this talented writer, pick up one of her books today…just be warned…don’t plan on doing much else until you’ve finished the last page.
