All things, when placed under pressure, eventually break or leave a mark.
Tattoo artist Brody “Cujo” Matthews knows how to keep things simple. In life and in love. Abandoned as a child by a mother who refused to stick around to raise three boys she didn’t want, he’s intent on staying clear of complicated women. The only things complicated in Cujo’s life are the killer tattoos he designs and inks. That all changes when he’s asked to help organize his best friend Trent’s engagement party, which means working with Trent’s fiancée’s best friend, Drea, the definition of high maintenance and sizzling curves. And the one woman he doesn’t want to walk away from.
Andrea “Drea” Caron is broke and tired. After years of caring for her ailing mom, she’s at the end of her rope trying to manage the piling medical bills, two jobs, and a life placed on hold. She certainly doesn’t need the added frustration of a sexy playboy tattoo artist messing up her best friend’s engagement party or her carefully balanced life. But when Drea witnesses the abduction of a woman from the café she works at, she can’t help but turn to Cujo who’s determined to prove to Drea that he’s someone she can count on forever…but as they attempt to bring the truth to light, someone is working to bring that forever to a sudden, deadly halt.
After reading The strongest Steel, I was hoping and praying that this book would be Cujo and Drea’s story! I’m so happy that it was, what I was not expecting was how much these have to go through to find their way to their HEA.
Drea……. I’m in awe of this woman! Never dos I imagine what she was going through. She is the most selfless and caring person ever! She’s had a rough go of life pretty much from the start. She’s had only herself to depend on, so much so, it’s hard for her to let anyone know the real her. There’s always a wall between her heart and everyone else, it would take a very persistent and caring someone to break down that wall.
Cujo (aka Brody) wow is really all I can say! When you first met Cujo, you get he’s the player with no care in the world, but boy would you be very mistaken. He’s got a lot of weight on his shoulders that he only lets a very elect few see. You can’t help but fall in love with him once you truly hear his story!
Though their lives have been different, those burdens they hide bring them closer together. All it takes is one night of horror that slowly brings them closer together. What happens when the nightmare is over though? Do they continue exploring these feelings they have and letting the grow to something more? Or is everything they just went through too much for them to take, the reminders and revelations that were found driving them apart?
I hope that Scarlett Cole has more for us in this series! Not only does she connect you to the characters, she makes it so that you’re so invested in what happens to them. You are constantly yelling at them to stop being so ridiculous and see what is really in from of them! Amazing job Scarlett, I can’t wait to see what you come up with next!!
Fractured Heart is the “perfect” title for this book because Scarlett Cole fractured my heart at times and then so wonderfully put it back together again. The Strongest Steel was one of my favorite books of 2015, so I was most definitely awaiting the second one in the series.
Both Cujo aka Brody and Drea have somewhat of a “fractured” heart that was caused by events and people in their pasts. However, both do a very good job of moving past that pain and trying to live a happy life, but it’s not complete because that hole in their heart isn’t completely filled yet. Both of the characters really pulled me into the story and found a special place in my heart. Cujo, at first glance, gives you the impression of a guy who is just into a good time, and boy can first impressions be so wrong. He has a great deal going on under that sexy exterior. His face and body is what first makes ladies take notice, but if they got to know his heart…wow…he’s pretty deadly! He’s loyal, he’s been hurt by the woman who should have done everything to make him feel loved in this world, and he’s overcome something that shows just how strong he is…NOT TELLING YOU…I don’t want to spoil it! And, oh Drea, she epitomizes what loyalty and unconditional love really is! Again, no spoilers…but this woman is one I would want in my corner when life knocked me down. They were perfect for one another…apart they weren’t whole, but together they are complete, and their love fills that empty space in their hearts. Their road to happiness will be rife with struggles, mistrust, and even danger, but getting to their final destination was worth the emotions I felt!
Another phenomenal read by Scarlett Cole! I am even more amazed by her talent after reading The Fractured Heart. I was waiting very impatiently for this one after reading The Strongest Steel, and this was well worth the wait. I fell in love with Cujo and Drea in the first book, as I did with Trent and Harper, and the added twists were the icing on the cake! This book made me fall in love with each of them even more! I can’t wait to see more in the series!
