~ REVIEW: Professor Trouble by Soraya May ~

518sn213xnl

Synopsis

Emily thinks her new class with a visiting professor is going to be pretty dull: Latin Literature taught by some old British fuddy-duddy. Except Will Spencer isn’t what she expected: he isn’t old, and he isn’t a fuddy-duddy…

Stay out of trouble, they said.   But Emily Masterson, sitting in the front row of my class, was the kind of trouble I didn’t see coming.
I bet I’m the only college professor in all of Britain who’s punched his boss for being an asshole.
But he got up again, and hit back pretty good—he knocked my ass three thousand miles across the Atlantic. Now I’m in exile for a semester, teaching bored college students in New Hampshire.
It’s only a semester, they said. It’ll blow over, and you can come back to your real job.

All I need to do is stay out of trouble.

Especially the kind of trouble that comes in a cute little package, with red lips, and round hips, and little polka-dot skirts.
Especially when that trouble is in my class looking at me as if I’m the most important thing in her world.
Especially when she’s my new student, and all the things I want to do to her are completely forbidden.

Stay out of trouble. Right.

If you enjoy student/teacher stories, this is one you will definitely want to read!

Professor William Spencer got himself into hot water at the university he taught at in England so he has been sent to an American college for a semester. All he has to focus on is keeping himself out of trouble for a few months and then he can return and continue on with his career. But on the first day of class, student Emily Masterson literally falls into his arms and he realizes staying out of trouble just might be harder than he thought, especially when the sparks between the two are off the charts!!

Will Professor Spencer be able to resist the temptation of becoming involved with a student or will he give in to his taboo desires?

This is a great debut novel by Soraya May! The story kept my interest from beginning to end and both main characters were very likable. I love any kind of taboo story and this one doesn’t disappoint. I certainly would have enjoyed a hot Professor Will in my college days!! I will definitely be checking out future works by Soraya May!

Blackness surrounded him, its endless pools of ink swallowing him whole. He couldn’t see his hand in front of his face, but he felt the terror seeping through his skin, past his bones and making its way down to his very soul.

James knew he was in the throes of one of his nightmares again. He could never make out a thing, just knew the feeling it left him with.

He tried to make himself wake up, but couldn’t find his way out. The feeling that someone was coming for him caused panic to swell and his heart to accelerate, threatening to break free from his chest.

Not knowing what was coming, fear lacerating his insides, James started to run blindly. In his bed, his feet kicked out wildly, tangling in the linens and ratcheting up his terror, because to James, he was trapped.

His breathing labored and coming in short, sharp bursts, James cried out at the same time his body bolted upright in the bed. Sweat beaded on his brow and dampened his skin, his clothes suctioned to his body uncomfortably. He was clammy and winded, shaken, but he already felt better for knowing he was free from that awful feeling of suffocating terror that had threatened to overtake him just moments ago.

Scrubbing his hands down his face, James breathed deeply, hanging his head to his chest while his body calmed. As his adrenalin levels normalized, and he began to feel more like himself, James gave a final sigh of relief. Stabbing his fingers through his hair, he was readying himself to try to go back to sleep when he looked up and choked on his breath.

His entire body went rigid in an instant. His breathing, his heartbeat. Everything ceased to work. In the next instant James threw himself back against his headboard, fear gripping him once again.

He couldn’t believe what he was seeing. He would chance rubbing his eyes to be sure his vision was true, only he was too frightened of what he would find once he opened them again.

I was looking for something different to read, and boy did this one fit the bill! Secrets and mystery abound through each page of this thriller. James is returning to the town he and his family left years ago. This isn’t a move James wanted. He doesn’t have good memories of the town of Oakridge. When he returns, he finds things on the surface are different. He is making friends easier this time, and he has a girl who is interested in him. He also runs into an old friend, but things aren’t always what they appear. Danger is lurking in Oakridge, and James may get caught up in the middle of it!

When I read the synopsis, I knew this would be an intriguing book, and it surpassed all my expectations. Without saying too much, it’s not only a good thriller and mystery, but it’s also a look into the human psyche. There are plenty twists and turns….in fact, I had to stop myself from reading ahead to see if I was on the right track of what was going to happen. If you are looking for a book to keep your interest until the very end, I highly suggest reading this one! This just proves J.C. Valentine can write a great book in any genre!

Synopsis

Harper Styles can’t believe she’s really doing this. It’s one thing to take a job as an escort to pay her way through college. It’s another thing to fly to Ohio and pretend to be some stranger’s girlfriend so he can get through a wedding without his family climbing all over him.

She’s outside of the airport when she meets possibly the most beautiful man she’s ever seen. Later, in the first class lounge, she realizes that this man is her client—Slate, world-famous drummer for Black Lilith.

Slate needs a girlfriend to deflect his parents’ attention from his womanizing, rockstar lifestyle. Unable to convince his best friends to lend him their girlfriends, he’s resorted to hiring an escort to pretend to be his lover and smooth the rough relationship he has with his family.
She asks him for his real name, but he gives her a coy smile that makes her weak at the knees. He also makes it absolutely clear that he will not sleep with a woman he’s paying. As long as she’s technically his employee, he will not take advantage. But the chemistry between them is immediate.
Harper can be anything a man needs, but she’s starting to realize that what Slate really needs is a woman to break through his walls.

Excerpt

Harper needs a smoke before she kills someone.
Her fingers shake a little as she steps out of the cab and onto the curb outside of JFK Airport. She’d spent most of the drive staring out the window, desperate for something—
Anything to calm her nerves. But they just got louder and more insistent when she starting seeing planes in the air and buses with ‘Airport Express’ written on them. She was really doing this.
The cabby hands her the purple carry-on she’d packed hastily that morning. She thanks him. It’s a bit chilly, even for New York in March, and she pulls her coat tighter around her neck as she fishes in her back pocket for the cabby’s tip.
“Thanks, sweetheart,” he says, giving her a wink.
For a moment Harper panics. Does he know? Is he expecting—
But then he’s gone, and Harper forces herself to relax. She’s got a heavy black jacket on, and beneath it is a simple flannel and blue jeans. Her black hair is done in gentle waves. She deliberately went for an all-American girl look this morning, even forgoing makeup beyond a little light concealer to hide the sleepless night she’d had. No one can tell what she’s doing here. And even if they could, there’s nothing to be ashamed of. Lots of girls take jobs to put themselves through college, and even though this job isn’t the sort of job she’d tell her grandmother about, she refuses to let herself feel ashamed, or dirty, or any of the other words that come to mind when people hear the word ‘escort.’
God, I need that smoke.
She heads for the Departures door and makes a quick detour to the gaggle of people waiting outside, their shoulders hunched in the cold and their fingers curled around cigarettes. There’s a garbage bin overflowing with butts and a general air of desperation as these people suck up as much nicotine as they can before they have to get on a flight. Harper isn’t addicted—she’s a casual, nervous smoker. No personal trainer worth her salt would have anything more than a casual fling with cigarettes.
Harper pulls a packet out of her purse. The lighter she brought with her is a cheap throwaway since she knows she won’t be able to get it through security. She can buy a new one when she arrives in Iowa.
She’s never been to Iowa before. She had to Google it last night when her boss-madame—she doesn’t know what to call Angelica Spencer—telephoned to tell her that she’d be getting on a plane in the morning. That her first job as an escort would be literally escorting someone to a wedding of all things, and parading as the man’s girlfriend for his friends and family. Harper thinks he must be some kind of big deal since Angelica emailed her an NDA to sign before giving her the plane ticket. The contract didn’t say his name. It just referred to him as ‘the client.’ But whoever he is, Harper feels kind of bad for him.
Is he one of those social outcasts who can’t get a date?
Her lighter won’t work. She keeps flicking it, her fingers shaking with a combination of nerves and cold, and she mutters under her breath as the damn thing spouts sparks but no flames. The cigarette remains unlit between her lips and she almost wants to cry with frustration. This is not the time for this damn lighter to stop working!
“Need a hand?”
Harper looks up at the voice and feels her jaw drop.
The man in front of her is quite frankly—stunning. He’s hidden most of his body under a heavy suede jacket, but Harper’s been working to be a personal trainer for half her life, so she knows an impressive specimen when she sees one. His biceps bulge beneath the fabric, and she doesn’t need to look any closer to know that there are some rock-hard abs hidden under all of his clothes. He looks like the kind of man that guys at the gym keep posters of for inspiration.
But the body is only half of it. His face is strongly defined and casually handsome. Model worthy, she thinks, and sweet Lord what she wouldn’t give to see this guy in an underwear campaign. He’s got blond hair which looks a couple of days away from needing a wash, and eyes the color of dark chocolate.
She realizes she’s staring when those eyes flicker down to the cigarette still dangling from her lips. She recognizes that he’s holding a lighter and it’s immediately clear that she’s acting like an idiot.
“Oh, thanks,” she says, hastily throwing her own cheap lighter in the garbage behind her.
She turns back and the man extends his hand. He flicks the lighter quickly and the flame launches without a problem. Harper gazes at it for just a moment before leaning forward, sucking in a breath of smoke and mint as the cigarette catches light. She glances up and catches him staring at her lips, which are fuller than average and one of her best features.
“Thank you,” she says again, drawing away and taking another drag of smoke, enjoying the way his eyes never leave her mouth. She pulls the cigarette from her lips and blows out a long stream of smoke.
“Pleasure’s all mine,” he replies. Harper grins at the obvious double entendre. “Don’t suppose I can bum a smoke?”
Harper hands him the packet she’s still holding. He takes it from her and their fingers brush, and Harper shivers because neither of them are wearing gloves. He’s got chipped black nail polish, which usually isn’t much of a turn on for Harper, but on this guy it is. Hell, this guy could probably stand there in a unicorn onesie and she’d find it a turn on. He really is a beautiful man.
He lights his cigarette, seemingly exaggerating the movement of his lips and watching her the whole time. Harper obliges him by admiring the show he’s giving her.
“Thank you,” he says, blowing out a stream of smoke and handing her back the packet.
“Pleasure’s all mine,” she replies as she shoves it back into her bag.
He laughs easily. It’s a deep, chesty laugh. If it weren’t for the smoke coming out of his lips, she would have thought that he was a singer. But singers don’t smoke. Then again, she’s going to be a personal trainer, so she isn’t exactly in a position to judge.
“Are you a singer?” she asks.
He frowns with his eyebrows, but the rest of his face smiles. “No,” he says. “Why do you ask?”
“You have a nice voice.”
He stops frowning. “Thank you,” he replies, delighted. “So do you. But I’m not a singer, I’m a drummer.”
“Oh,” Harper says. She observes his muscles again, wondering if it’s a combination of carrying and beating drums that gave them to him. “Professional?”
“On my better days.” He blows out a lungful of air. Even though they’re surrounded by people, Harper feels like it’s just the two of them. He has this way of looking at her which makes her feel as though she’s endlessly fascinating.
“Must be nice.”
“It keeps me off the streets.”
They smile at each other. Harper can’t remember the last time she felt this easy with a guy. She doesn’t think it’s just his smooth moves. Since she moved to New York, she’s had plenty of men give her nice smiles and let their eyes linger. She’s pretty enough, with a slim figure thanks to her routine, but with one of those ‘girl next door’ faces that she despised in high school, but has since become a blessing and a curse. It makes her approachable.
This guy, for some reason, isn’t just flirting which wouldn’t be enough to set him apart from the others who have flirted with her in the past. He’s giving her the courage to flirt back, though how he’s managing it she can only guess. Usually, she’s looking at her feet, wondering what a man wants, wondering whether she wants him, and wondering if there’s something she’s missing or if it’s all a joke. Usually, she needs to know a guy before being flirty with him, which is why she’s only ever dated friends. Men she knew through mutual acquaintances who weren’t afraid to take the lead in romance. But this man just makes her want to smile and keep smiling, and ask him if he wants to get dinner and a movie, like some high school movie cliché.
“What about you?” he asks.
“I’m tone-deaf…” she says, “…and I can’t keep a beat for anything.”
He grins. “I meant what do you do for a living?” he asks.
I have sex with people for money.
Not technically true. She hasn’t had sex for money yet.
Today is her first time—her first client. And she could just tell him that she’s a personal trainer even though she’s not certified. Yet. Only one year left, and if the mountain of student loans weren’t looming over her like a monster from a fairy-tale, she would have been excited about it. Instead, here she is, getting ready to board a plane with a stranger and fly to Iowa with him. He’ll probably keep her ‘working’ all weekend. She wishes she’d asked Angelica to give her a one-nighter first. A man who just wanted to fuck and leave. How is she supposed to pretend to be a man’s girlfriend in front of his family if she doesn’t know him?
Thinking about that makes her look at her watch. When she sees the time, she panics.
“Shit,” she says, taking one last drag of her cigarette and throwing the butt in the garbage. The man she was talking to looks confused. “Sorry… I’ve got to, ah… sorry…”
She grabs her purple carry-on bag and speed-walks toward the doors.
“Hey, wait!” the guy calls after her.
“I gotta go I’m gonna be late—”
“What’s your name?”
Despite her instincts—she’s never going to see him again, what’s the point in looking back—she turns her head to see him watching her go in confusion. He’s still got the cigarette in his hand. Now that she’s looking at him from a distance, she realizes he’s got a battered brown backpack at his feet.
“Harper!” she calls back before she can think of a reason not to. She’s never going to see him again. And it’s just a first name. But it feels good to think that he’ll have something to call her in his head if he ever thinks about her again. All she’ll have is ‘the sexy drummer,’ which is maybe for the best considering what she’s about to do.
Then she’s passing through the doors and all but running to the check-in counter. She’s got a client to meet at the bar of the American Airlines lounge, and she can’t afford to be late.
She checks her ticket again to make sure she hadn’t dreamed up the First Class designation. Whoever her client is, he’s generous enough to buy a hooker an expensive seat.
Stop calling yourself that. You’re an escort, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
She repeats the sentiment over and over as she joins the First Class queue at the American Airlines desk, though there’s a small part of her that wonders if the men surrounding her in business suits can tell. Maybe she shouldn’t have gone for all-American. Maybe high class would have helped her blend in more.
Her ticket is under her own name. Harper Lee Styles. Her mother thought ‘Harper Lee’ was a good idea at the time. But Harper reminds herself that she will need to introduce herself as Tiffany. That’s the name Angelica picked out for her.
What a cliché, she thinks to herself as she hands over her ID and is waved through to security clearance.
A few minutes in security and an aggressive pat down from one of the lady guards, and she’s speed-walking to the American Airlines airport lounge. She checks her watch again and breathes a sigh of relief. She’s early. She doesn’t need to meet her client for another ten minutes.
She slows down so she can savor this moment. It’s not every day she gets to go into an airport lounge. She wishes her mom and dad could see her now. Then she remembers how she got the First Class seat, and decides that it’s probably best they can’t. She just wishes she’d finished that cigarette.
The lounge is all done up in blue and white and the chairs look ridiculously comfy. There’s a free buffet along the wall with fruits, vegetables, and a pasta salad that looks particularly tempting, and it’s completely deserted. Harper wonders where the rest of the people in the First Class line at the check-in desk are. She shows the bored-looking woman at the reception her ticket. She expects to get some sort of third degree, but the woman just waves her through with a sigh. Harper steps tentatively into the lounge, realizes that no one’s going to come and kick her out, and then she relaxes. She even allows a small smile to grace her face.
At the back of the room, a long black bar beckons. The back wall has a mirror which is obscured by every kind of hard liquor she can imagine. She resists the urge to order something really strong because she needs her wits about her if she’s going to do this.
It’s not just the expectation of flirting, though that is something she dreads, there’s the sex part as well. She’s no blushing virgin, not by a long shot. It’ll just feel… she isn’t sure how it’ll feel. Maybe like it’s hanging over her? Like he’ll be expecting her to start stripping the moment, they get somewhere private, and she’ll have no choice because he’s paid for her? She doesn’t know if she’ll be able to cope with that. Will he expect her to fuck him on the plane?
“Something to drink, Miss?” the bartender asks. She looks younger than Harper but is obviously old enough to serve alcohol.
“Ah… just water, please,” Harper replies.
“You sure? We’ve got champagne.”
Harper’s stomach churns at the thought. “Just water, please.”
Gazing at the mirror while the bartender pours the drink, Harper begins to wonder what her client will look like. The thought is immediately cut off when she sees the sexy drummer’s reflection in the mirror.
She spins around on her stool, clutching the bar for support. How did… what did, she can’t even form the thoughts.
He gazes around the lounge, apparently looking for something. Then his eyes fall on her and he blinks for a moment, before grinning. He starts to make his way over to her and Harper begins to panic. He’d looked confused for a moment like he wasn’t expecting her, but what if he’d followed her there? What if he’s still talking to her when her client shows up? She can’t afford to be seen with another man when she’s already been bought and paid for.
She opens her mouth, but he cuts her off.
“Tiffany?” he asks, his lips turning up in a crooked smile.
Harper’s heart pounds in her chest. No way, she thinks, no way.
“Yes?” she replies hesitantly.
He sticks out his hand, with its chipped polish and leather cuffs which she hadn’t noticed until now. “I’m Slate. I’m your client

~ Shifter Date: Must Love Lions by Alma Black Teaser ~

Alma Black’s new paranormal romance: Shifter Date: Must Love Lions comes out Nov 30th. Here’s the official book teaser…
"Love is dangerous. And wild. And spectacular." He found himself leaning halfway across his desk. Max had a habit of letting his enthusiasm for his idea run away with him. He raked his hands through his thick mane of blond hair, smoothing it down. "Do you know many couples that are happy?" He eased back in his chair. "Truly happy?”

And the blurb…

Alexis Parrish is very single. Sassy and smart, she’s great at her job as a journalist, but it’s never given her the time to find the right man–specifically, a human. So when she gets assigned to interview Max, a lion shifter, about the new dating app he’s created, she can’t believe her intense attraction to him. After all, humans and shifters don’t date.
Max is used to causing trouble. He broke tradition by creating the dating app, Shifter, which humans and shifters alike can use to answer the call of the wild.

When Max challenges Alexis to give him a chance, she can’t say no. A human like her has no business with this handsome alpha lion, but she can’t resist his magnetism. Their chemistry is primal, their connection positively animalistic. After all, once you go shifter, you never go back.

But when a rogue shifter group against interspecies dating targets Alexis, Max will stop at nothing to protect her. It’s more than his pride on the line; it’s his mate.

Warning: Shifter Date: Must Love Lions is a paranormal shape-shifter romance. If sassy, sexy, and carnal reads aren’t your thing, this book isn’t for you. It contains lots of hot sex, a bit of violence, and a lot of witty banter.

Synopsis
Don’t you just hate it when someone destroys all your carefully made plans?

I mean, I had goals: college to graduate in one semester, a future I was working hard to reach, and an image of myself I wanted the world to see. My life was stacked into these precisely placed blocks. But then Colton Gamble came along and knocked them all askew.

I hated how he messed everything up, how he could hog all my attention whenever he was around, how he made my pulse quicken–but only because he ticked me off…not because I was attracted to him. Oh! And I hated how he knew how attractive he was too, the shallow, full of himself, doesn’t take no for an answer, too-flirty, too cocky, extremely irritating jerk.

The boy had all the qualities that turned me off. Or so I thought.

One night he wasn’t quite the brainless, over-confident jerk I usually took him for.

One night, he took care of me when I was at my lowest. He opened up to me and made me open up to him.

Now I’m learning maybe he’s not what I first thought he was. And maybe I’M not what I first thought I was. Maybe it’s okay to rearrange a couple of my perfectly set blocks. Maybe, just maybe, I’ll stop worrying about what I’m afraid everyone else will think and finally reach for something I really want. It’s possible some of my plans need to be destroyed, and Colton Gamble is exactly the kind of mess I need in my life.

What do you think? Should I give him a try?

Desperately seeking your advice,
Julianna Radcliffe

Wow!!! Consolation Prize completely blew me away. I was expecting one thing from the book and the characters, and I got something so much more. At first glance, it looked like it would be a light romance with some spice, but boy was I wrong!

Julianna finds herself at the wedding of her one-time crush, Brandt. She doesn’t even know why she showed up. She feels completely out of place. As she begins to leave, Brandt’s younger, infuriating, and sexy younger brother, Colton, shows up at her table. He makes her blood boil. She doesn’t know whether to slap him or kiss him.  As she spends more time arguing with him, she realizes she has forgotten how uncomfortable she feels. She even finds herself laughing and enjoying herself. Colton is all wrong for her…he’s several years younger than her. She is more settled in her life and has goals. Colton is not. Somehow those reasons don’t matter when she’s with him.

I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed this couple. They are complete opposites but somehow complete and balance one another. Colton is a free spirit, and Julianna is more serious. I loved the banter and chemistry between the two of them. As I read more, I realized Colton wasn’t just the good-time, cocky guy he shows others. He really is quite intelligent and is sly as a fox! I loved that I discovered just how complex both of the characters really were with each chapter I read.

There is so much more that goes on within the pages of this book that I’m not touching on…one major issue is their relationship and how OTHERS perceive it (the age difference and the interracial romance), but I want others to read it for themselves. I laughed, I got angry, and I got teary-eyed at times, both happiness and some sadness, and I love a book that makes me emotional!

I love a romance that has a deeper meaning, and this one did! It was a book of hope and understanding. It reiterated what I already knew…as Julianna’s dad said, “We’re all just people. We love. We hope. We fear. We hurt. The packaging on the outside is just that, pretty packaging to decorate the world and make it a beautiful, colorful, assorted place. It’s the gift inside that counts.” What better message is there than that? This is my first book I’ve read by Linda Kage, and I can’t wait to go back and read more of this series! Thank you, Linda Kage, for giving us a book that not only entertains us but gives us hope too!

“An intriguing, sexy story about unexpected love and balancing others’ expectations against your heart”
NYT Bestselling Author Shayla Black

“The third book in Wild’s Bridge series is a fantastic read, certain to woo new readers and satiate her returning fans. Over the Edge checks off all the boxes: it’s emotional, intense and extremely sexy. Wild taps into an often thought of as taboo fantasy — one woman sharing two men — and makes it a possibility, allowing the reader to live vicariously through the main character. While this is part of the Bridge series, it’s also effective as a standalone novel.”

~ Harmony and High Heels by Tracy Wolff and Katie Graykowski Blog Tour + Review ~

hhh-tour-banner hhh

Synopsis

From New York Times Bestselling author Tracy Wolff and International Bestselling author Katie Graykowski comes a sizzling tale of heartbreak, Harley-Davidsons and high heels …
Harmony Wright is a bad girl living a good girl’s life. From the time she was born, she’s always been the good twin. The ladylike twin. The twin her high society (or at least as high society as you can get in San Angelo, TX) mom likes to parade in front of all her garden club friends. She’s gone along with it, too—wearing pearls and Chanel when ripped jeans and motorcycle boots are more her speed. But when Harmony takes off for an extended visit with her twin sister, Lyric, she leaves her good girl persona in the dust …
Dalton Mane knows what it is to be bad and he’s more than ready for the peace that comes with living the good life. Once the crown prince of a powerful biker gang, Bastards of Hell, he walked away from it all when tragedy struck. Now the general manager of the Fort Worth Wranglers, he spends his time wheeling and dealing in the sports world and all while keeping an entire team of football players in line.
When Harmony crashes into Dalton, his tidy little life is over. Will he give up everything to keep Harmony out of trouble?

Dalton threw open the double doors to his office expecting the worst. He and Heath had just had their asses chewed out by the team owner, and returning to find Harmony in his office might have taken the sting out. But of course, he was right. She wasn’t there. Not that he’d expected her to be. She wouldn’t be the woman he thought she was if she’d just sat idly by, handcuffed to his desk, and waited for him to return.
But good God, what a mess she’d made.
He walked to his desk, shaking his head as he saw the disaster that was his floor. Then again, he figured he’d had it coming. Locking Harmony up had been a big risk, but one he hadn’t felt like he’d had a choice about. An angry Harmony was a liability. Having a coach involved in a bar fight really wasn’t that big of a deal, but if Harmony had burst into Dalton’s meeting with the team owner and Commissioner Goodell, things would have gone downhill in a big damn hurry.
Barry Lamont thought women were put on this earth to decorate it and should be seen but never heard, and, well, Dalton didn’t know Commissioner Goodell’s stance on women, but he was pretty sure that a pissed-off Harmony could have turned Gloria Steinem against her own kind.
He picked up the drawers and fit them back into his desk and then knelt down and scooped up all of the junk he’d collected over the years. He pulled the trash can over. Now was as good a time as any to spring-clean the hell out of his office.
An hour later, he couldn’t get Harmony out of his head. He didn’t feel the need to apologize to her so much as he just wanted to see what horrible things she had planned in retaliation. Besides the pencil-stabbed football, which—he wasn’t going to lie—hurt a lot.
Figuring the least he could do was send her a balloon bouquet—or maybe some high-end jewelry—he hit the space bar to bring his computer screen to life. Flowers seemed a little too cliché, and no baked goods on earth could compare to what Harmony whipped up with ease. But he wasn’t really sure where to look for biker chic in balloons or jewelry—he’d been too broke to afford either when he was a member of the Bastards, so he figured he’d mess around on the Internet, see what he could find.
When he clicked the icon for his web browser, it didn’t come up. So he clicked it again. And again. And again. Still nothing.
He clicked the icon for his monthly financial reports.
Nothing.
He clicked the icon for the team roster.
Nothing.
He clicked on the Apple icon to restart the computer, but no Apple menu dropped down.
What in the hell had Harmony done to his computer?
Pranks were one thing, but now she was messing with his job.
He grabbed his cell to call IT, but it was dead, so he grabbed the charging cable hooked to his computer and plugged in the phone. He hit the intercom button on his desk phone.
“Yes?” Eleanor answered.
“Can you have IT come up here? My computer isn’t working.” Shit. He’d known Harm was smart, but he hadn’t taken her for a computer genius. Maybe he should have, considering who her sister was.
“Absolutely. And thank you so much for that raise. I feel very appreciated, and so does the entire support staff. You’re very generous.” Eleanor sounded extraordinarily happy.
What raise?
“Yes, well, you deserve it.” He let go of the intercom button as his mind whirled with possibilities.
The entire support staff? Harmony had given a raise to the entire support staff? Jesus. Just how generous had she been? He banged his head on the keyboard, but all he got was a headache. He reached for his phone, but it still wasn’t charged enough to check email. Damn it. Five-Alarm Harm had struck again.
An hour later, IT still hadn’t fixed his computer.
“No way,” Jess Carlyle, head IT tech, said under his breath. “Whoever did this is a diabolical genius.”
Yeah, Dalton had already figured that out. But he wasn’t feeling nearly as warm and fuzzy about it as Jess seemed to be. “What do you mean?”
“The reason you couldn’t click on the icons is because your desktop is a picture of your desktop. Your actual desktop is underneath it. See?” He hit escape and the picture minimized. “I’m going to restart your computer and it should go back to normal.” He hit a series of buttons and then the log-in box came up. “Enter your password.”
Dalton leaned forward to type it in. Instead of opening to the desktop, the screen flickered for a second before saying he’d entered the wrong password. He entered it again and still nothing. She’d reset his password too. He’d give her points for creativity—right after he turned her over his knee and spanked that luscious bottom of hers.
“Can you reset my password?”
“Sure.” Jess typed and a series of screens came up. He typed and typed. “Enter your new password.”
Dalton typed in a new password and made a mental note to add it to the password list in his phone as opposed to the sticky note under his desk. He had no doubt he’d do something to piss Harmony off again soon, and he was a man who learned from his mistakes.
“What in the holy hell is going on here?” Barry Lamont boomed from the doorway. He stabbed the air in front of him with his tablet. He touched the screen, pulled something up, and waved it like Dalton could see it from fifty feet away. “You gave everyone a raise?”
“Jess, can you please excuse us?” Dalton shoved his hands in his pockets and tried not to think of all of the ways he was going to kill Harmony.
“You bet.” The computer guy left his laptop on the desk and strolled out of the office. “I’ll just see if Eleanor has any of that pie left.”
Wait a minute. Harmony had brought his assistant a pie? All he’d gotten were chocolate chip cookies, and Harm had taken those with her before he’d even gotten one. Which, come to think of it, didn’t seem fair considering all the havoc she had wrought.
“A raise …?” Barry was a domineering control freak who liked to think that he ran the world. “Son, what were you thinkin’?”
“My computer was hacked and an email was sent out without my knowledge or consent.” He’d gotten and kept this job by not backing down. “I’ll fix it.”
He couldn’t exactly say that he’d handcuffed Lyric Montgomery’s evil twin in his office and it was payback. Especially not after the meeting they’d just had with the commissioner.
“You’d better, or start looking for a new job.” Barry stormed out just like he’d stormed in.
Dalton took a couple of deep breaths and pulled up his sent emails. Harm had given everyone except the players, coaches, and cheerleaders a five-thousand-dollar-a-year raise. He scrubbed his face with his hands. With a few keystrokes, she’d added six hundred and twenty-five thousand dollars to his annual budget. How exactly did he revoke an almost company-wide raise without angering his employees?
Yes, he could send out another email explaining the situation, but people were funny about their money. They wouldn’t care that it had all been a joke.
What a big fuckin’ mess.
It looked like he’d be spending the rest of the afternoon finding a way to squeeze an additional six hundred and twenty-five thousand dollars out of the budget—which was not at all what he’d had planned.
Then again, nothing had gone as he’d planned since Five-Alarm Harm had walked into his life. The woman was a force of nature, and trying to control her was proving was fruitless.
What surprised him the most was that he didn’t want to control her. Even after everything she’d done, he wanted to sit back and watch her in action.

These ladies have scored BIG with their second book in the sexy, charming, and sweet Fort Worth Wranglers series! This one is Harmony’s story and what a story she has to tell! I was under the mistaken impression she was the good girl who lived up to her mother’s strict rules of being the perfect southern lady. Harmony is one bad-$$$ woman underneath all that southern charm. Too bad she has to hide her piercings and tattoos under her high society clothes. The only time she can let loose is in the next county over or one of her vacations. She is also very successful…owning almost half of her bakery with her mother. She is given an incredible opportunity to show off her baking skills and be who she wants to be, but her mother wants no part of it. This dilemma is only half of the story. The other half comes into play when she meets her brother-in-law’s boss. What an unforgettable first meeting!!! The sparks fly! Dalton is attracted to this wild woman, but he gave wild women up a long time ago when he left his past. As they say, nothing can stop what the heart wants, and what Dalton and Harmony’s hearts want is each other!
Again, these two writers know how to develop their characters. They’re all quirky and have a wonderful sense of humor, even the minor secondary characters. Holy cow, I fell in love with the “coffee club” of men who all served in Vietnam who are regulars in Harmony’s bakery! They all make me want to move to their small Texas town. Back to the two main characters…Dalton and Harmony. I don’t think I’ve come across two characters more perfect for one another. Both like to live life on a bit of the wild side, even though Dalton would never admit it. It’s that crazy side of Harmony that he loves. And Harmony, I will remember her FOREVER! She is one of those characters that just jumps off the pages! She brings color to everything as much as she brings adventure and chaos. She has heart and loyalty, and I wanted so badly for her mother to see it! I hated that she felt like she was trapped between two worlds, living the predictable life her mother wanted for her and the wild life she felt she had to live. Dalton brought some balance to that and helped her figure out who she really was and how she really wanted to live her life.
If you love romance that has spice, sweetness, lots of laughs, and characters you won’t soon forget, I HIGHLY recommend this series. It’s a perfect way to escape life for just a bit. Once you get to know these two twin sisters, Lyric and Harmony, you will always be anticipating when you can go back!

For the next three hours I’m swamped answering calls—thankfully no more real estate agents—and helping anyone that comes in while trying to finalize the boys’ events for the next month. When that damn bell chimes for the hundredth time today, I plaster a forced smile on my face and glance up. When my eyes finally focus on the man walking through the door, the smile vanishes and my jaw falls open.
What the actual fuck?

His head is high as he looks around, studying the room. After giving the gym a quick onceover, his gaze finally lands on where I’m seated behind the desk. Our eyes meet and my heart hammers, the pounding so loud I fear he can hear it from across the room. I tear my gaze away from his and scan his body, surprised at the physical reaction I’m having to him.

With a slight shake of my head, I slap my palms on the paper-covered wood, and shove out of my chair, causing it to shoot out at least ten feet behind me. “You have some nerve walking in here.”

He stops in his tracks and blinks at me before an easy smile crosses his face. “Rebecca Toler. Shoulda known I’d see you here.” He drawls as he continues walking toward me.

My pulse is pounding in my ears and my stomach is practicing its floor routine for the Olympics as I stare at the man in front of me. Taking a minute to appreciate his strong jaw line that’s covered in scruff, I notice that his hair is in desperate need of a trim as it falls across one eye.

Fuck, he’s sexy.

He always had been. Regardless how much it pains me to admit it. Though his looks weren’t why I wanted to full body hurl him from the building. Memories of our last interaction flood my mind, along with the hurt and anger I’d felt.

“How ya been, Reb?” he asks with a familiarity he doesn’t have.

His use of my nickname, a familiarity he doesn’t have––or deserve––causes me to snap childishly, “Who said you could call me that?”

He grins, but doesn’t reply.

Fuck, that grin is hot.

“What are you doing in Atlanta, Ryker?” I ask, attitude still thick in my voice.

He takes his time looking me over and my body betrays me by flushing at the attention. His eyes are appreciative of what they see, but strangely enough, it doesn’t feel like he’s ogling me.

He steps forward and shoves his hands in the pockets of his washed out jeans that hang low on his hips. “Well, I was in town and thought I’d stop in and say hello to my buddy Breccan. Seeing you is an unexpected bonus.” His lips tip up in a smile and my stomach flips again.

“Your buddy?” I hiss through clenched teeth while attempting not to let my gaze linger on his pants any longer. The thought of Ryker and Breccan ever being buddies would have been funny, if I wasn’t too shocked to laugh.

His gaze finally makes it back to mine and he nods once.

For a few moments we simply stare at each other, him smiling while I scowl.

Two words….LOVED it!!!! OMG! I couldn’t get enough of Rebecca and Ryker or their journey to romance! Ryker had my heart from the very first chapter! He had everything he always wanted, doing what he loved and adoration until it was all taken away from him. He has tried for a long time to get a job in a gym without any luck. No one wants to touch him. He has one last option, and he dreads doing it, but he knows he has to. He is forced to go to the last place he wants to, but he swallows his pride and asks for a job in the place where he has no doubt how much they dislike him. So, he’s shocked when he gets the job. He has no idea how very much his life is about to change.
I loved Reb from the first book in the series. I knew she was a spitfire, but I had no idea she had such a soft heart as well. This became very apparent as Ryker made her fall in love with him. She fought him and really gave him a hard time, but Ryker never gave up!
“Baby, we were starting something the minute the bell over the door rang as I walked into the gym for the first time.”

Reb didn’t want to start anything, especially with Ryker. In fact, she doesn’t really like him, or that’s at least what she tells her mind. However, her heart has no intention of listening. Ryker has a way of breaking down her defenses. It didn’t take him long to realize how awesome she really was. Not only is she sassy and beautiful, but she has a heart of gold. She will become one of Ryker’s biggest supporters, and she will fight to help him pick up the unraveled pieces of his life and help him put them back together. When I first met Ryker, I thought he would be a cocky, arrogant jerk, but he’s the farthest thing from that. Yes, he’s trying to put his life back together, but not just for himself but for a special lady. I will let you figure out just who she is. Once you meet her, you will see why she is so special to Ryker. I loved the banter between Ryker and Reb, and these two will forever hold a special place in my heart.
I’m still amazed that Unraveled is only Teague’s second book! Her writing is brilliant, and she has a unique way of pulling you into her characters’ lives. I felt like I was a part of their tight-knit group. The only regret I have is that I hated telling my friends good-bye. Hopefully, I won’t have to wait too long for another book by the talented A.S. Teague! Let me just add…the icing on the cake…the epilogue. It has to be one of my favorites!
