Trevor Adler loathes the music he used to love, but it’s the key to his full-ride scholarship and the ticket away from his dysfunctional parents. To kick off their freshman year, Trevor’s roommate drags him to a frat party, where he ends up face-to-face with his childhood best friend and finds himself entrenched in memories he’d rather forget.
Unable to let Charlie go again without understanding the truth of why she disappeared from his life and chose to become the type of person they always hated, Trevor is relentless in his pursuit of the girl he once knew.
Charlotte (Charlie) Logan is broken. Under her perfectly-crafted exterior are the shards of a shattered heart. A handful of angry words changed her life completely and Charlie’s never been able to forgive herself for the truth she’s hidden from everyone.
While Trevor pushes Charlie to remember the music that lit her soul and the laughter they shared, they find themselves reverting to a banter-filled rhythm that feels all too familiar, yet different now. When Trevor’s own secrets come to light, it becomes clear he and Charlie both must face their tragic pasts if they have any hope at a future together.

Trevor and Charlie were the best of friends until he moved away 4 years ago without a word since. They both have had to endure some of the hardest times of their lives on their own. When they meet again at college, Trevor is ready to reconnect with his former best friend but Charlie now goes by Charlotte and doesn’t want to let him back in.
Trevor is determined to show Charlie that she can count on him this time to be there through thick and thin. He can tell she is pretending to be someone she isn’t and he wants the chance to remind her of who she was and who she still can be. Charlie felt abandoned by her best friend and is set on not allowing him the chance to hurt her again. But it’s hard to keep out the person who knows you best. Can these two best friends find their way back to each other?
This was a very touching story. I loved watching the healing process between Charlie and Trevor and how their feelings grew beyond friendship. Even though these two are still young, they have endured many hardships that have made them wise beyond their years. I love how not only was this a great story to read but there was a powerful message behind the story as well. I have read Stormy Smith’s paranormal series and was excited to see how she did with changing genres and I think she did a great job!! I look forward to reading more from her in the future!
