“Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies.” ~Aristotle
Holy cow! There are no adequate words that can illustrate how much this story affected me. There truly aren’t enough stars to give it!!!! My heart was put through the ringer by Elle Brooks, but I wouldn’t have had it any other way. This wasn’t just a romance, it was a “love story,” filled with all the emotions, both joy and sadness that goes along with falling in love!
“Falling in love is supposed to hurt; otherwise, it wouldn’t be called falling.” ~Harlow
Ellis and Harlow have been in love with one another before they even knew what love really was. First, they were neighbors, then best friends, then friendship turned into a love that would be tested but not broken. And, when I say tested, I mean tested in ways you cannot even begin to imagine. The two would be torn apart for years, yet when they see each other again, despite the time apart and anger and resentment on Harlow’s part, could extinguish their love for one another. However, a HEA won’t be an easy road for these two.
“I’d fallen for Ellis the same way a person falls from a height. Once you’ve slipped over the edge it’s over and you’re gone, tumbling powerlessly, knowing that the only thing left to do is pray you survive the fall.” ~Harlow
This was not just a well-written book. It was PHENOMENAL! She had me hooked from the very first few pages, and the way she brought that into the ending was genius!!! I loved at the beginning of each chapter, a quote from different authors was included, and each one was what each chapter was about. She had a special way of connecting me with her characters, especially through the flashbacks within each chapter. It slowly showed me the deep, abiding love they developed over the years.
“Each and every time we kissed I was astounded at how much more I wanted to do it again. At some point she’d gotten me hooked, and I became addicted to her. Harlow was my drug of choice and one I couldn’t imagine I’d ever want, or even be able, to give up.” ~Ellis
There were some twists that the author put into the book that would challenge Ellis and Harlow. Each challenge would show a deeper level of their personalities. There wasn’t anything that I disliked about either of them. It made me love them even more. These two were destined to be together despite what life threw their way. Any decision they made was a decision they thought was the best for the other, even if it wasn’t what the other wanted.
It is very rare for a book to affect me the way this one did. It’s the ultimate story of what unconditional love is and what true sacrifice for the one you love is. I just hope this isn’t the end of the love story of Ellis and Harlow. I cannot wait to see what Brooks has in store next!
“I’ve had a long time to contemplate what loving Harlow means, and I’ve come to understand that love isn’t a commodity; it can’t be traded or substituted. You can’t imprison it because it’s transcendent, and you can’t ignore it because it’s a force of nature.” ~Ellis

I’m a little neurotic; I function on a tiny amount of sleep, and a huge amount of caffeine. I love old movies, green skittles, and have a slightly strange, and irrational fear of stormy weather.
When I’m not locked away scribbling down the crazy stories that occupy my mind, I can be found at home in East Yorkshire with my husband and two children.
I’m unashamedly fickle and can be persuaded to do just about anything with the promise of a good book, new shoes, or a bottle of bubbles.
Oh, and did I mention I also love to write?
