4-and-a-half-stars

Back in Beantown is a GREAT addition to the series! This one started with the action right out of the gate, and it didn’t let up. Shelby, Gia, and Lexi are becoming my favorite girls. They each are from a different walk of life but have come together to form a sisterhood with an unbreakable bond.

I won’t go into a long-winded review on the synopsis. Just know there are a lot of obstacles for this tight-knit group. They will definitely need to rely on each other. I love how each character gets their own POV, even jerk, Craig. If you didn’t like him in the first book, you will hate him in this one. There is a good bit of characters, but this talented team of writers get it right. Through each perspective, I got to see into their personality. It also added to the book, making it even better.

Lexi and Gia are both navigating new relationships, yet the core of this series is still the friendship and bond the girls share with one another and the importance of family. Family sometimes isn’t the one you’re born into, but it’s those that love and support in good times and bad.

There is a mystery or two in this book, and it appears it won’t be answered yet. But, I’m okay with that! I love a series, and I’m looking forward to catching up with the girls and the Moretti family in the next book! One last thing…I loved the reference to two amazing authors in this book…Kate Benson and Sapphire Knight!!!!

They say the college years are what really shape a person for adulthood, and although rare, unbreakable bonds of friendship can be made.

Gianna Moretti, Alexis Cole and Shelby Lansing are about to discover just how true that is.

When the three of them are thrust together in a new city and on their own for the first time at Boston College, none of them expected to click so suddenly despite their many differences.

They also didn’t anticipate how much their lives would be changed.

Forgotten dreams, family secrets and heartbreaking fears are revealed as they grow, learn and laugh together. What started as a bond of circumstance quickly becomes something they never realized they’d all been missing –true friendship.

However, when devastation strikes, will their friendship survive?

synopsis

When Ross and Elisa open their new business in Detroit, they believe they’ve embarked on a dream life, complete with their beloved, precocious daughter. But owning and running a restaurant is not for the faint of heart, and Elle quickly becomes laser-focused and obsessed, while Ross spends his days consulting, or concocting new beers on his pilot system—and wondering why she won’t agree to set a date for their wedding. When their restaurant—named “Komfort” for its focus on the comfort foods of various cultures—is featured on a nationally televised tour of hot new eateries, its popularity shoots into the stratosphere, and Elle’s stress level reaches a breaking point.

Faced with a mutual inability to communicate beyond their robust sex life, Ross issues an ill-considered ultimatum: the restaurant or him. Stunned when she refuses to consider such a ridiculous demand, he’s forced to come to terms with his own selfish tendencies. Hoping to repair the damage he’s done, he concocts a new beer inspired by her, using a recipe for a classic German-style Kölch. He crafts the final product using a special ingredient designed to catch Elle’s attention. It does. But not necessarily the way he’d planned.

“Adjunct Lovers” fills in the story begun in LIGHTSTRUCK, and provides a closer look at Ross’s and Elle’s complex personalities as they make their sexy way toward happily ever after—with the help of a very special brew.

excerpt

He looked around his space, pleased with its level of tidiness. A glance up at the clock he’d placed on the old metal desk made him blink. He’d been here for over three hours, and he could barely remember an hour of it. It was as if he’d been moving in some kind of a dream-state or a weird, limbo fog. It sucked. His phone buzzed with a text from Austin, his oldest friend from brewing school and owner of Fitzgerald Brewing in Grand Rapids, where he and Elisa had met.

You need to come out, his friend had sent. Tomorrow. We’re going up for a guys’ weekend at Trent’s house. Make it happen.

I don’t know, he replied. I’m sort of afraid to go away that long right now.

I know. But she’ll be fine without you a few days. It will do you both some good.

Ross lowered himself into his favorite new furniture find—an old Eames-style chair he and Liesl had procured from the back of somebody’s garage sale in the past month and pondered the concept that his friend was referring to Elisa, while he meant Liesl.

Maybe, he typed, then waited to see if Austin replied. When the other man didn’t Ross admitted, It’s kind of shitty right now. I don’t know if I should go. I don’t know if I want to go.

That’s all the more reason TO go. Stop at my house. We’ll head up together from there.

He tossed the device onto his desk with a curse. He was always letting Austin railroad him into shit—most of which was pleasant but some of which got him into more trouble than he wanted. He leaned back and propped his booted feet up on the matching, somewhat rickety ottoman, hands laced behind his head. Maybe he could use some guy time, escape the nest of women he inhabited for a while.

Maybe he needed to talk to the woman who still wore his engagement ring, but who hadn’t exchanged more than five words in a row with him since their daughter had been released from the hospital. He groaned and swiveled the chair, putting his feet on the floor and leaning forward, relieving some of the pain in his lower body. He missed her so much it hurt him all over, but he’d dug this hole and had zero experience in how to pull himself out of it. The longer they went incommunicado, the worse it got. And the worse it got, the more he worried that it would never be good again. He was willing to own his part, but didn’t know how to explain that to her.

“Fuck,” he said, as he got to his feet. “Fuck. Fucking mother-humping shit-kicking ass wipe.”

“Poetic,” Elisa called from somewhere in the increasing gloom. He flinched, then winced when his body tingled at the sight of her shadow emerging from the door that connected his space with the restaurant’s storage room. The distinct sensation of a burgeoning erection under his cargo shorts made him curse again.

“Can I help you with something?” He turned to the desk and pressed his fists on it, hoping to distract himself with pain. It didn’t work.

“Did Austin get hold of you?” She was keeping her distance, which pleased and infuriated him in equal measure.

“Yes.”

“Okay. So, are you going?”

“Why?”

“Well, so I can make arrangements here, for Liesl.”

“I don’t know yet.” He stomped over to the cooler and walked in, willing his dick soft. After he’d gotten himself under a bit of control, he turned to exist through the flapping plastic barrier but found his way blocked. “Excuse me,” he said, not meeting her gaze but wanting to so badly he had to bite the inside of his cheek not to do it.

“Ross, look at me.” Her voice lacked its vague, ghostly quality. It held an edge he recognized. And one that his poor, neglected cock reacted to so fast he grunted and gripped the door frame. “God damn you, man. Fucking look at me.” She got a grip on his beard, something he’d let get a tad too scraggly lately, and pulled his chin down. Her ice-gray-blue eyes blazed. Her color was high and she practically oozed something he understood, something he wanted, something he had to handle, for them both.

“We need to—”

He yanked her to him, cradled her face between his hands and kissed her, gently at first, relishing it and her so much he got dizzy. She responded in turn, going up on her tiptoes and wrapping her arms around his neck. He got serious with the kiss as the sweet press of her body against his drove him, parting her lips, tasting the corners of her mouth, groaning when she met him halfway.

Chasing ViVi by A.M. Hargrove Blog Tour + Excerpt

Chasing Vivi by A.M. Hargrove

Release Date: July 13th

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Chasing Vivi, an all-new romantic standalone from A.M. Hargrove is available NOW!

VIVI

Vivi Renard—a blast from the past—wasn’t supposed to affect me like this.

When I knew her ten years ago she was nothing more to me than a highly functioning brain.

Hell, I paid her to do my homework.

Only now … she’s drop dead gorgeous but had the nerve to turn me down for a date … several times.

No one turns me—Prescott Beckham—down for anything.

I’m on a mission and won’t stop until I’m firmly planted between her thighs, hearing her moan my name.

Her plump red lips have me dreaming filthy things and acting like a kid with his first crush.

If I can’t have her, I don’t want anyone else to either.

What’s worse is I want to own every single bit of her.

Except there’s a slight problem.

Vivi can’t stand me.

Even the old let’s be friends again thing failed.

She tossed it back saying we were never friends to begin with.

But I’m the king at playing ruthless games.

So she’d better be ready to drop her thong, because Vivi is going to end up in my bed sooner … or later.

And I’m pretty damn sure it’s going to be sooner.

Excerpt:

Vivi rubs her hands on her thighs. She’s nervous and has been ever since I stood over the table. She seems to have more confidence in herself now than she had when I knew her but that doesn’t account for her skittishness. Back at Crestview, she had been overweight—I knew that—only I didn’t know, or maybe I didn’t pay attention, to the other girls giving her a hard time. And why should I have? I had so much going on in my head I could barely keep my own shit together.

“So?” I prod. “Homework binder?”

“You did a pretty good job with me. I only figured you put the other girls in the same boat. You know, with the homework stuff and all.”

“I had you wrapped around my homework binder at Crestview. That’s your metaphor for finger.”

It’s not a question. I’m baffled because I had no idea. Yeah, I was a flirt, but I flirted with everyone to get what was necessary. It was the only way I knew how to accomplish my goals. She needed the money and always acted like she had no interest in me whatsoever.

“Of course. You had everyone wrapped around your finger. Well, maybe more of them were wrapped around your, um.” She points in the direction of my dick.

Sexy little Vivi can’t say dick out loud. Isn’t that the cutest thing in the world?

“Say it, Vivi.”

“Say what?”

“You know what.” I lean into her and get close to her lips. “Say it.”

Her chest puffs out as she says, “Dick.” Her lovely neck flushes pink and two bright spots of fuchsia dot her cheeks. This is sweet innocence at its utmost.

“Excellent. Now say cock.” I put a great deal of emphasis on the “c” and “k” at the end of the word. Silver gray irises turn stormy and deep creases form on her forehead.

“Why would you want me to say that word?”

“Because it makes you uncomfortable as hell and I’m an asshole. I like to see you squirm, Vivi.”

“I won’t say that. It has nothing to do with truth or dare. And besides, it’s my turn.”

I take a couple of good slugs of my drink, sit back, and cross my arms. “Do your worst.”

She puts an elbow on the table and rests her cheek on her hand. “Truth or dare?”

“Dare.” It’s impossible not to laugh at her comical expression. I curtailed her plans.

“You can’t do that!”

“Do what?”

“Pick dare.”

“I most certainly can.”

Her head tilts back, and I can only imagine what she’s thinking. A chuckle escapes.

“You’re a jerk,” she says.

“So I’ve been told.”

“Okay, then. I dare you to tell me why you loathe the man you’ve become.” She gloats at the clever way she’s twisted the game. And stupid me should’ve figured out she’d come up with something like this. Vivi was always brilliant.

“Loathe is extreme. Let’s say I’m not particularly fond of who I am right now.”

“Fine. Go on.”

Now I’m the one who’s squirming. Where do I even begin? Vivi is almost a stranger to me. There’s no way I can bare my pathetic soul to her.

“I have daddy issues.”

“Really?” Her question is one of disbelief and she appears to be holding back a laugh.

“Hard to believe, isn’t it?”

“Um, yeah. Prescott Beckham, the guy with the world at his fingertips, has daddy issues? I think not. I Googled you after I ran into you that day. From all accounts I read there were no daddy issues to be found. Nada. Try again.”

“I have a team that keeps my secrets out of the media. You wouldn’t find anything on me. But it’s true. I grew up without a mom and my father was not much of one. So, there you have it.” I give her one of my best smirks. It usually does the trick on most women.

She leans back and tucks her chin closer to her body. “That’s it? And I’m supposed to buy that?”

“That’s all I have for sale, Little Wolf. Sorry.”

“You’re not a very fair player.”

“My turn.”

“Nope. I’m done.” She drinks another swig of her beer.

“No, you aren’t. I’m picking for you. Truth. How many men have you fucked, Vivi? And what exactly have they done to you?”

She shoves her arms into her coat and pushes at me to get out of the booth. But I have zero intentions of going anywhere. “Let me out, Prescott.”

“Not until you answer me.”

“That’s none of your business. How many women have you been with?”

“Too many to count.”

Her jaw flops open and I close her mouth with a finger under her chin.

“You asked, Little Wolf.”

**Please note – This title has previously been released with another publisher and has not been revised or altered significantly.**

Mina was born and raised in the East Farthing of Middle Earth (otherwise known as the Midlands, England) and spend her childhood learning all the sorts of things generally required of a professional adventurer. Able to ride, box, shoot, make and read maps, make chainmail and use a broadsword (with varying degrees of efficiency) she was disgusted to find that adventuring is not considered a suitable occupation these days.

So, instead of slaying dragons and hunting vampires and the like, Mina spends her days writing about hot shifters, government conspiracies and vampire lords with more than their fair share of RAWR. Turns out wanna-be adventurers have quite the turn of imagination after all…

(But she keeps that sword sharp, just in case the writing career is just a dream and she really *is* an adventurer.)

The boring part: A full time author and cover artist, Mina can usually be found hunched over a keyboard or graphics tablet, frantically trying to get the images and words in her head out and onto the screen before they drive her mad. She’s addicted to coffee and would like to be addicted to chocolate, but unfortunately chocolate dislikes her.
