OMG….why have I not discovered Carrie Aarons before now? I LOVED this book! The cover was the first thing that caught my attention, it’s gorgeous, then I read the synopsis and knew I had to read it. It surpassed all of my expectations.

Privileged is similar to the movie, Cruel Intentions, but Aarons made this her own book with a royal twist to it. Nora’s life has completely been upended. She is a long way from her small town in Pennsylvania. Her mother is engaged to the future king of England. This would be any girl’s dream come true, but not for Nora. She has always been content being unnoticed, and now her face is everywhere. On top of that, she has now attracted the attentions of golden boy, Asher. She isn’t sure what his true intentions are.

Asher was born into a life of privilege, having everything he’s ever wanted at his fingertips. Underneath that cockiness and bravado, is a boy who suffered a devastating loss as a child. Revenge and anger have been boiling in his blood for years, and now Nora is the perfect opportunity to finally get it. As he is trying to earn Nora’s trust, something happens. She begins destroying some of those walls he has erected, and he finds himself having feelings for her. Will he let go of the past and give love a chance, or totally destroy any chance he and Nora have at happiness?

Let me begin by saying, I loved Nora from the beginning. She is dealing with the massive changes in her life with grace and love. She is beautiful, yet she doesn’t realize it. She is a genius, and most importantly, she is human. She has flaws and issues, but that made me like her even more. What I found most endearing and refreshing was her relationship with her mother. There is mutual respect and love between the two of them. In addition, she has a wonderful relationship with Bennett, her mother’s fiancé. She never changed who she was in her soul despite the change in her circumstances.

Now…Asher…he is a bit more complicated than Nora. He infuriated me at times. He was spoiled and manipulative, using people for his own means. Seeing what he lived in made me have some empathy for him. It just showed money and fortune doesn’t always bring happiness. In fact, it can make you miserable. Asher was torn between his love for Nora and his need for vengeance. He could be irresistible, especially when he turned the charm on. He deserved to be happy as well, if he would just allow it.

The chemistry was insane between these two, even when Asher’s desire was caught up in his hatred and anger. As they spent more time together, I learned more things about them. Each of them taught the other great life lessons.

I felt like I got a behind the scenes look at what it means to be a royal, both the positive and negative. They are granted chances that normal people can only dream about, but it comes with a lot of responsibility and sacrifice.

Lastly, the epilogue was EPIC! I loved it! I’m so glad I have discovered a new writer! I highly recommend reading Privileged. Just be prepared to not do much of anything else.
