Book Excerpt

Take an inside look on Something Down There with this thrilling excerpt.
Reaching into his pants pocket, he drew out a small leather case attached to a silver chain and dangled it before her eyes.
Karen grabbed it from his hand and looked it over as if she needed to make certain it was real. “I know I took the damned keys from the car,” she said. All the same, she felt a moment of relief at having a new set in her possession. That relief, however, ended in a flash.
With a powerful leap to a ledge above, Rahm crossed his arms over his chest like a dictator about to make a pronouncement. “They won’t do you any good,” he bellowed.
Jeremy swallowed hard, raising a hand to his throat. “W-what do you mean?” he said, reaching out for something to grab onto. Finding nothing, he spread his legs wide, feet flat on the floor, trying to maintain his balance.
Rahm, aware of the significance of this moment and wanting to ensure that it remained stamped in everyone’s mind, stood tall, chin out. “While you were sleeping last night, I climbed out and drove your car off a bridge. You will not be allowed to leave.”
Karen’s hands flew to her face. She began to cry and dropped to one knee. Protectively, Jeremy rushed to her side, encircled her in his arms, and pulled her close. He glared at this insane man, his new enemy, standing above. With hate etched in the dark hollows of his cheeks and in the lines of his furrowed brow, he said, “What do you mean? Why can’t we leave? You won’t get away with this!”
Rahm, a leader of few but a leader nonetheless, addressed his flock, gathering with solemnity about the pair, now unofficial members of the tribe, even if against their will. All eyes riveted up.
“You can’t leave because we need you. That is, we need your baby—the baby you will have, sooner or later. And yes, we will get away with it. You see, the harnesses are gone, and we dismantled the machinery that lowered you down. You will never be able to find your way out. Don’t even try. It would be suicidal.”
Karen stared at her husband, her jaw dropping in disbelief, as the horror of her predicament bore down with jackhammer force into her brain. Unless she and Jeremy were guided out, they were snared, trapped, condemned, damned. Without the candles, lanterns, or torches they couldn’t see the tips of their fingers, and even with their carbide lamps they wouldn’t know the way through this puzzling maze with its unknown levels and intricate network.
Jeremy’s nails dug into his wife’s shoulders. “Dear God,” he wailed. “We’re doomed, and it’s all my fault. Forgive me, Karen. Please!”
She looked at him blankly, then blinked, her breath coming in staccato bursts, piercing her lungs like wounds from a knife. She began to run blindly, crying, “Let me die! Let me die!”

SYNOPSIS

Law student Beth Dreymon is out of money and struggling hard. If she wants to finish her degree, she’s going to have to earn some money and fast. When she learns of an exciting opportunity—playing chess with New York’s most elusive billionaire—the offer sounds too good to be true. Reassured the offer is legit, Beth gets her game face on and prepares to geek out…

Only, when she steps foot into Raphael North’s luxurious penthouse, the rulebook goes flying out of the floor-to-ceiling windows. North is beautiful and damaged—a terrible temptation—and he has his sights set on winning Beth over. He’s just a job, though. A job Beth needs in order to make ends meet. If she plans on making her life in New York work, she needs to keep her eye on the prize. The road to hell is paved with good intentions, however, and it isn’t long before Beth finds herself entangled in Raphael’s world of dark desire.

Lover.

Enigma.

Beth should run from the devastatingly attractive blue-eyed devil, but Mr North has other ideas…and he’s about to make his next move.

EXCERPT

Raphael North stands on the other side of the abnormally thick glass. He’s dressed in a plain dark blue t-shirt, and a pair of washed out blue jeans. His feet are completely bare. His hair is even darker than it was in his picture, if that’s at all possible. Almost curly, too. It’s then that I realize it’s wet—he must have just gotten out of the shower. There are small dark patches on his t-shirt where water has obviously soaked through the material.
He turns those startling vivid green eyes on me and I’m breathless all over again. It feels like I’m tumbling over some steep cliff face, a weightless sensation turning my stomach over as I fall. Inside, I’m back to wanting to flee the building. Externally, I’m praying to deities of faiths and religions all over the world that I don’t look like I’m about to slump in an unconscious mess on the floor right in front of him. My top lip begins to twitch—something that only happens when I’m really, really anxious. Without thinking, I press my fingertips to my mouth, as if I can put a halt to the twitching by touch alone. A strange look passes over Raphael’s face. A slight movement at the corner of his mouth. I can’t decide if it’s displeasure or amusement. Either way, the reaction is fleeting, barely noticeable at all, and then his face is a blank mask again. He places his hand on a curved silver handle on the other side of the door, and then pulls it toward him, opening it. There are no barriers now. Nothing standing between myself and a man whispered and gossiped about by an entire city. Screw that, an entire nation. I’m in an enviable position right now, but I’d gladly thank the universe if the ground opened up and swallowed me whole.
The first words Raphael North speaks to me will haunt me until the day I die. He angles his head ever so slightly to one side, then says, “Your toenail polish is chipped, Ms. Dreymon.”
Lord have mercy. His voice is deep but soft. It has no hard edges, but at the same time his tone is overflowing with self-confidence and command.
“I’m sorry, I…wasn’t aware of your no-shoe policy.”

The Outliers (The STUNNING conclusion to The Outskirts Duet) by T.M. Frazier Blog Tour with Excerpt & 5 +++ Star Review!!!

The Outliers, the stunning conclusion to The Outskirts Duet by T.M. Frazier is available NOW!

The Outliers cover

The Outliers by T.M. Frazier

Release Date: November 9th, 2017

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Synopsis

Sensual. Heartbreaking. Passionate. Overwhelming. Maddening.

That’s the love Finn and I share.

It’s the kind you can never recover from.

The kind you never WANT to recover from.

That’s why we’ll do everything and anything to protect it.

When my past chases me all the way to Outskirts, we have to make a choice.

Let the lies destroy our chance at future together or…bury them deep in the swamp where they belong.

Got a shovel?

Excerpt:

My eyes went to her throat. I saw her pulse quicken beneath her smooth skin. She twisted her pouty pink lips. Her hesitation only lasted a second before she wrapped her arms around my neck and pulled me down closer so that the tips of our noses touched. Her lips feathered against mine. “Fuck me, Finn.”

“Yes,” I growled.

I may have been the one who told her to say those words but hearing them out of her mouth caused the raging inferno of lust within me to explode beyond control. I had a feeling I’d be hearing those words on repeat in my head for the rest of my life.

Fuck me, Finn.

I lifted her up onto the nearest table and pushed her onto her back. I tore her panties off in one tug and while I devoured her with my eyes, I somehow managed to concentrate enough to unbuckle my belt and push my jeans down over my ass, freeing my throbbing cock.

Sawyer moaned when I parted her legs, stepping between them. The sound was pure fucking heaven. Our tongues danced while we drank each other in. I savored the way her body felt against mine. Hard against soft. I dug my fingers into the flesh of her perfectly round ass before moving them to her pussy where I parted her warm wet folds and strummed her swollen clit because Sawyer was my instrument of choice and only I knew how to play her to perfection.

The look on Sawyer’s face when I inserted a finger inside of her was as if I’d just given her a drug. She was high on the pleasure. Her lids were heavy. Her pupils large and dark. I was dead set on making sure I wrung every bit of pleasure from her gorgeous body and I gave her exactly what she’d asked me for.

CHRISTIE’S REVIEW

5 ++++ STARS

AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL, STUNNING….I thought T.M. Frazier blew me away with Outskirts, but she proved me COMPLETELY wrong. The Outliers is one of my all-time favorite reads just as the first book was, and it’s also the top read so far of 2017 for me. I’m just speechless….

I won’t give much away in the plot or spoil anything from the first book, but this picks up right where Book 1 ended. Secrets will be revealed and danger is coming to town. I just fell more in love with Finn and Sawyer. Finn not only protects Sawyer, but he also assures her of her own strength.

“And no one could break you. No one. You’re far too strong to be broken by weak minded people. Look at all you’ve been through and how far you’ve come.”

I saw a completely different side to Sawyer. She is definitely not the scared, unsure woman she was when I first met her in The Outskirts. She is a “damsel and a knight.” Despite the pain she and Finn faced, they never let it determine how they felt about each other and other people in Outskirts. She and Finn have both grown in ways I never imagined.

T.M. Frazier has a magical gift of telling a story. This duet delved way below the surface of being a romance. It came full-circle, and I love when a book does that. She also addressed the issue of faith, and it was beautiful.

“We focus on the goodness in our hearts because God lives in our hearts, not the details.”

The title, The Outliers, is a perfect choice. Frazier not only tells readers what the definition is, but what it means for Finn and Sawyer. There are just so many details like these that seem small, but they aren’t. They define the characters and the story itself.

One added note…LOVED the bonus scenes…especially Critter’s. AHHH…I love this man!!!!

If you haven’t read this Duet, you SERIOUSLY NEED TO DO IT NOW!!!!!

About the Book

Title: Defiant Attraction

Author: V.K. Torston

Genre: New Adult, Contemporary, Erotic Romance

Release Date: November 16th

DefiantAttractionFrontCover

Dan might be the enemy of my enemy, but I’m not sure that makes him my friend. He’s definitely not my ‘step brother’, no matter what everyone at school says. Honestly, I don’t know what he’s supposed to be to me. Or what he’s becoming…

Fact: for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

In the yearbook, I’ll be Sophia Ramos: Valedictorian. Years of honor roll certificates, AP classes, and lugging around an obnoxiously large cello case are about to finally pay off. If everything goes according to plan, I’ll escape these decaying suburbs for a top university across the country.

The problem? A few years ago, my mom met someone just as broke, just as drunk, and just as impulsive as she is. Approximately five seconds into their relationship, they decided it would be an excellent idea for him—and his son, Dan—to move in with us. (Spoiler alert: it wasn’t).

Now I share a house with none other than Daniel Cole. Even though Dan dropped out two years ago, he’s still the tattooed, bad boy, heartthrob, legend of St. Anthony’s Academy. He and I aren’t supposed to have anything in common.

Living together means war. First, Dan and I were at war with each other. Now, our rivalry is giving way to an unlikely alliance—two opposing sides teaming up against a common enemy: our respective parents.

Which is to say, we’ve been hanging out.

Question: What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object

Here’s the thing: My brain is a complex organ. One hundred billion neurons, each with an average of seven thousand synaptic connections to other neurons. My brain is my ticket out of here.

My heart, by contrast, is a pump. It moves blood around.

I know Dan is off-limits. I know I shouldn’t do something I’ll regret. And I know how much is at stake (my family, my future).

So why can’t I stop thinking about him? Those inscrutable jade eyes. The smile that can say a thousand different things at once. That tattoo curving across his abs…

Even though I know better, I feel that pounding in my chest. And it’s getting harder to ignore.

But if I follow my heart, I can never go back.

Answer: There is no such thing as an immovable object.

Is she strong enough to make her dream a reality?
Harper Grey is fed up with over-bearing men. Her father wants to sell the family hamburger joint to her brother because a woman could never make it successful.
Harper knows she has the same flair for business as her mother, and sexy Navy SEAL Patrick O’Brien dares her to prove it to the world.
When duty calls and Patrick must leave her side, will Harper be strong enough to make her dream a reality?
Fun, flirty, and absolutely endearing!
I’m a sucker for stories where the protagonist follows their dream even when it seems unlikely they’ll succeed. Throw in a sexy SEAL? YES. I’m in.

An Excerpt from the Book

Take an inside look at Harper’s Place. Read this sizzling excerpt from the book.
“How would you bring in new business, though?”
I’m amazed that he seems to find our conversation interesting. He’s an audience willing to listen and I’ve not had that in a long time. Damn this crush of mine. It won’t be easy to tame after tonight.
“New menu items, specials, things like that. Start serving dessert, like pies. Easy cook items. With the new burgers I’ve created and a new décor, I’d open in the summer when the air is fresh and everyone is happy to be out of the snow, hungry for grilled food. I think we could do fine.”
“What’s your hold up?”
“Tony, Dad. It’s complicated.” I shrug. His arm feels good, and I have the overwhelming urge to nuzzle against it. “Did you kiss Amy Parker when you were twelve? She still brags about it.” Did I just ask him about kissing? What is wrong with me? Will this mouth of mine never shut up? Stop it, Stop it, stop it!
“That I did, in a closet over at Robert Anderson’s house.”
“Ew.”
“I was twelve and desperate. You can’t blame me. I do blame that stupid soda bottle. And your first kiss?” There is a challenge in his voice.
“Kevin Monroe at the Klines Movie Theater. He sent me a six-page note the next day about how much he loved me, and I freaked out and dumped him.”
“Any regrets?”
I choke back a giggle. “Naw, ‘cept I remember I liked his cologne. It could have been aftershave, but it was nice.” It’s not half as nice as the Aramis that Patrick has on. Something about it sends a shiver up my spine that has nothing to do with the zombie waiting in Dad’s office.
“The dark isn’t so bad, now is it?”
“I guess not.”
Silence surrounds us. The fear that enveloped me seems to disappear.
“Are you seeing anyone?”
“No.” It sounds terrible now that I’ve said it out loud. Like I’m admitting to being a desperate and dateless leper.
“So,” he drawls out, “ever thought of dating a military guy?” He squeezes my fingers.
Is he serious?
His fingertip smooths over the rough callouses I’ve gained from years of hard work. Suddenly my wasted evening of not going out to celebrate is starting to look better. “I think it would depend on which military guy.”
“You’re killing me. You know that, don’t you?” His strangled tone only sets off a case of the giggles.
“Are you asking me out, Patrick?”
“Trying to, but you’re not making it easy.” The challenge is back in his voice.
“I wouldn’t mind a date or two,” I manage to squeak out. Breathe, Harper, just breathe, calmly through your nose, out your mouth. Sainted Mother of God, Patrick asked me out! I hit the jackpot! Now all I have to do is not hit him.

Beauty is only skin deep. Appearances aren’t everything. It’s what’s on the inside that counts.

Blah, blah, blah.

At thirty-two, Jen Malone knows one thing – life isn’t worth anything if you’re not wanted. And how does she know know this? Because the only person she’s ever wanted no longer wants her.

To Jen, image is everything. And five years ago, after a public divorce from a handsome and famous artist, that image was torn to shreds. The man whose career she helped build is now nothing but a memory, a thorn in her otherwise perfectly honed exterior. A piercing little sliver that needles and festers whenever she looks at their daughter. The daughter who reminds her of the husband she couldn’t hold on to. The daughter who was the reason he left in the first place.

When Jen’s vehicle breaks down and puts her the path of mechanic Miles Wright – a person who is her polar opposite – she finds it hard to relate to his laidback attitude. Miles could care less about his image or what people think of him. Being around him puts her on edge, because a man who judges people by their insides isn’t going to find anything pretty when he looks at hers. Then again, she could care less what a blue-collar grease monkey thinks of her. Right? Right …

Just as Jen begins to reevaluate everything she thinks she knows – about life, about love – her past comes calling, leaving her to decide what’s more important: her image or her heart.

About the Author

I grew up in Iowa, where the plains stretch as far as the eye can see and rolling fields of corn lay blanketed beneath eggshell blue skies dotted with clouds as fluffy and thick as pillows. My family was the traditional Midwest breed – we ate sweetcorn by the buckets during summer and spent way too much time shoveling our driveway in the winter. I learned how to swim before I could walk, spent my grade school years building forts and playing kickball with the boys on my street, and annoyed my mother to no end by spending more time reading than I did caring about my hair, clothes, boys, etc. I’ve wanted to be an author since I was four years old and now, after thirty odd years, am finally honoring that little girl’s dream. I currently live in the Pacific Northwest – a beautiful and rugged corner of the world – but spend most of my days dreaming of a move back to Iowa. My first job really was in an auto parts story, and I thank all of my co-workers for instilling in me a love of raunchy humor and a sarcastic wit that knows no measure. I have one husband and one dog who is beyond spoiled. (The dog, not the spouse.) I believe aliens built the pyramids or, at the very least, showed someone how to do it. I mean, really people … Look at the evidence.

It’s my firm belief that people can be anything they want to be. And it’s my hope that, as the years pass, we see more of our fellow humans stepping out of their comfort zones and living the life of their dreams.

BLURB

ONLY FOR…

Landry Cole’s life began when she was nine. Until then the day-to-day turmoil of her early childhood was the stuff of nightmares. Her father, his wife, and all her aunts and uncles showed Landry unconditional love, and under their care, she bloomed. But she never forgot. Fast forward to the fifth year of her surgical residency, and from the outside, Landry’s got it going on. Inside, loneliness and betrayal color her life until she meets the outrageous and daring Clashing Swell drummer, Brody Frost.

THE SHORT TERM

Brody’s life was golden. He surfed every morning, his band, Clashing Swell, had just signed with RiffRaff records, and he was free from emotional attachments. Until he met Landry Cole. To say she took his breath away was an understatement. But she was a princess to rock royalty, and Brody was no one from no where. Sure, the tour the band was about to undertake would change all that, but he wanted Landry now. When she told him they were short term, she wasn’t going to be a tour widow, he thought he’d take whatever she would give him. Little did he know she was about to give him everything.

EXCERPT

As soon as my aunt and uncle turned the corner, Brody whispered in my ear. “Lucky for you, fun is my specialty.”

I turned to him, smiling despite myself. “Oh yeah?” Clearly, Brody wasn’t the type of guy that needed to be encouraged. Yet, for some reason, I couldn’t seem to help myself. I blamed the wine and fresh ocean air for making me act as crazy as the drummer.

He nodded, his sexy smirk firmly in place. “You wanna see?”

I should have said no. But, then again, maybe Aunt Lo was right; some fun would do me good. Plus, Brody wasn’t hard on the eyes, not by a long shot. “Yes.” Before I knew what was happening, he picked me up, threw me over his shoulder and headed down the long cement and cinder-block hallway. “What are you doing?” I screeched. “People will see us.”

“All anyone can see right now is your perfect little ass.” He slapped it lightly.

I never did things like this—ever. The last guy I dated was a heart surgeon, with an ego the size of Texas, and little to no sense of humor. He’d asked me out on a date, and it’d taken him four more to get in my pants. And then he’d cheated on me…so really, I should be happy Brody seemed like Dr. Douche’s polar opposite. “Where are you taking me, caveman?”

“To have fun, of course.” He turned a corner to the left, this hallway much darker than the last. Another turn to the right, and suddenly it was pitch black. He placed me on my feet, and I held onto his arms while the blood rushed back into my head.

“Are we in a janitor’s closet?” The room smelled vaguely of chemicals.

“I think so.” He was close, standing right in front of me. The way he placed his hands on my hips was like we knew each other. Like we had been seeing each other.

“And this is fun?” I was biting my lip. Standing in a closet with a complete stranger wasn’t a normal Landry Cole move. It was more of an old-school Jacks Cole move, if we were naming names.

“Are you excited and slightly terrified?” He was closer now, his words whispered against my lips.

“Yes.”

He put a hand in my hair, his fingers rubbing my scalp. “Then we are well on our way to real fun, baby cakes.” And then he kissed me.

I had butterflies in my stomach and goosebumps on my skin. He tasted like the sea air and coconuts; like summer. I ran my hands up his arms, more than a little surprised at myself. I didn’t know why I wasn’t pushing him away. Why I wasn’t demanding to be let out. Who was this woman he’d made me become?

“God, you taste good.” He bent me backward, kissing me deeper. When he stood up, I climbed him like a damn tree then wrapped my legs around his waist.

Call me crazy, but I wanted him. I wanted this wild man to fuck me in a supply closet. I wanted it bad.

He walked forward, pushing my back against another cinder-block wall. I freed my hands from his messy blond hair, fumbling with his button and zipper trying to get his pants off. If I was going mental I might as well go all the way, right?

Tomorrow I would go back to being a responsible surgeon.

Tomorrow everything would go back to boring. But tonight—tonight I wanted fun.

A powerful contemporary romance set in the fast-moving world of international rugby.

When your world crashes down
When they all say you’re out
When your body is broken
I will rise.
I will return.
And I will be undefeated.

Nick Renshaw is the golden boy of British rugby. When a serious injury threatens his career, he starts to spiral downwards, a broken man.
Feeling abandoned and betrayed by those closest to him, he fights to restart his life. Maybe there’s someone out there who can help him. Maybe he can find his way back toward the light. Maybe … not.
Dr. Anna Scott might be the one person who can help Nick, but she has her own secrets. And when Nick’s past comes back to haunt them both, the enigmatic doctor is more vulnerable than she seems.
Broken and betrayed, the struggle to survive seems intolerable. Who will give in, and who will rise, undefeated?

Stuart Reardon

Stuart is a retired England International Rugby League player who’s career spanned 16 years as a professional playing for several top League clubs.  He has had several major injuries that nearly ended his career just as in Undefeated, the amazing collaboration with Jane.
Currently he is a Personal trainer living in Cheshire, and has an online fitness program: Fear Nothing Fitness.

Jane Harvey-Berrick

I enjoy watching surfers at my local beach, and weaving stories of romance in the modern world, with all its trials and tribulations.
It’s been the best fun working with Stu on this story. And yes, he did think about joining the Marines once.

On the Way to You by Kandi Steiner

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Publishing Date: November 16th, 2017

What makes you happy?

That was the question Emery Reed asked me the day we met, and I couldn’t give him a single answer. I could have said my dog, or my books, or yoga — but I just stared.

And then, I got in his car.

It was crazy to take a road trip with a stranger, but after years of standing still, he was my one-way ticket to a new life, and I wasn’t going to miss it.

We shared the same space, the same car, the same hotel room — and still, we were strangers.

One day we’d be laughing, the next, we wouldn’t speak. Emery was surrounded by impenetrable walls, but I wanted in.

Discovering his journal changed everything.

I read his thoughts, words not meant for anyone’s eyes, and the more I learned about him, the harder I fell. It turned out nothing made Emery Reed happy, and I wanted to change that.

I earned his trust by violating his privacy, and as wrong as it was, it worked — until one entry revealed a darkness I never knew existed, a timer I never knew was ticking.

Suddenly, what made me happy was saving Emery from himself. I just didn’t know if I could.

About the Author:

Kandi Steiner is a Creative Writing and Advertising/Public Relations graduate from the University of Central Florida living in Tampa. Kandi works full time as a social media specialist, but also works part time as a Zumba fitness instructor and blackjack dealer.

Kandi started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a die hard hopeless romantic (like most girls brought up on Disney movies).

When Kandi isn’t working or writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys beach days, movie marathons, live music, craft beer and sweet wine – not necessarily in that order.
