Title: I Burned Down His House
Series: Love at Frist Crime Series
Author: Jessica Frances
Genre: NA Romance/Suspense
She burned his house down, so he lit a fire between them that she could never extinguish.
So, I burned his house down.
It was an accident.
I mean, technically, the dog did it.
Well, the dog helped me to do it.
Did I mention it was an accident?
When circumstances mean I suddenly have a new housemate,
A man who is my ultimate fantasy,
And my entire world is turned upside down by new friends,
And a dog who likes to get me into trouble,
I have to wonder how my life got so crazy.
Add in my neighbor, who is under investigation;
Some unfinished business from the past, which just won’t go away;
Interfering family, who don’t know when to stop;
And mixed signals, making me wonder if fantasies really can come true,
And you have my new, hectic, crazy life.
But, when things take a dangerous turn,
And lives are on the line,
Will we all make it through in one piece?
Or is everything destined to crumble down around us?
Who would have thought that burning down a house would change everything so much?
Then again, as some people say: there is nothing quite like love at first … crime.
What a great read!!! Jessica Frances had me from the very beginning. What a first chapter! I could tell I was going to love Teagan when I first met her. Her personality and humor jumped right off the pages.
The cover and the synopsis tells you what is going to happen, but the characters and developing storyline pulls you in. Teagan is divorced, and she doesn’t have a huge social life. She crushes on her sexy neighbor, Joey. She adores his dog, Karma. When she hears Karma whining, she goes over to feed her and take her out. What happens…an accidental fire…will completely change her life.
Like I wrote earlier, I just LOVED this girl! She is definitely someone I would want as a friend. She’s cute, sweet, and has a killer sense of humor. I don’t like to compare characters in different books, but she does remind me a little of Stephanie Plum in Janet Evanovich’s books. But make no mistake, she’s definitely her own woman!
I haven’t read the other books, so I can’t really compare Joey to other characters. He does seem like a player who has commitment issues. However, I couldn’t help but love him. I liked the development of their relationship. He was just a neighbor, then a friend, and then more. They were the cutest couple!!!!
I have to say that the character that had my heart was my sweet Karma. I have two loveable furbabies myself, so I do love a book with dogs. Jessica Frances did an outstanding job of making Karma a HUGE character. She is the one who brought Teagan and Joey together. She also brought a group of friends into Teagan’s life as well. I adored Teagan and Harvey’s friendship!
I highly recommend this book! It has everything I love….romance, chemistry, friendship, family, mystery, action, and one very loveable canine!!!!
