OMG!!!! WHAT A READ! I have yet another top read of 2018 and an all-time favorite! L.B. Dunbar has proven that love can be just as passionate and sexy in your 40’s as it is in your 20’s and 30’s.

Edie has traveled to Hawaii with her daughter, Masie, 18, and son, Caleb, 22, as a new beginning. She is trying to figure out who she is after surviving breast cancer and a divorce. A chance meeting at a swimming pool will forever change her and make her believe in happy endings again!

Tommy is the band manager for his niece’s husband. He is on the road constantly and always busy with the guys in the band. He has no time or desire for a romance. That all changes when he lays eyes on Edie. He will reconsider everything he thought he knew about romance!

The chemistry between these two is HOT, HOT, HOT!!!! Edie and Tommy showed me that earth-shattering passion isn’t just for those in their 20’s. These two will definitely cause your temperature to rise.

Oh Lord, Tommy!!! He just proves that a man can be sexy at any age.

It wasn’t just his sex appeal that grabbed ahold of my heart…nope…he had a whole lot of good stuff going on inside of him. Edie was interested in knowing all of him. She knew he was strong and had a good heart. He did everything for his niece, Ivy, and the band.

“He had a strong heart to keep theirs happy. He did everything for the band, everything for Ivy. Tommy Carrigan had a solid, outer shell, but I wanted to know more about what lay underneath.”

Edie has to be one of my all-time favorite female heroines. Yes, I said heroine. She is indeed a warrior, and she not only fought for her life but also fought to find herself again. She was a wife and a mother. She never envisioned spending her time after Masie leaves for college alone. She didn’t want to be alone; she wanted someone to tell her things would be alright when she wasn’t sure. She wanted someone to love her. She deserved it, and Tommy was lucky to find someone who loved him for who he was as a person, not anyone else.

As with all of Dunbar’s books, it isn’t just the steam or sexiness that makes up the story but the emotions and the characters’ relationships with one another. I loved the relationship Edie was able to have with the boys in the band, even Gage, but most especially with Ivy. Their bond was so special. She understood what Ivy was experiencing as a mother. She understood that many times our identities as mothers overshadows everything else, and before we know it, we sometimes lose our own as we help our children find theirs.
 
Both Edie and Tommy wanted to be seen as just as themselves. That is what drew them to each other. They didn’t see the “other stuff,” just each other.

“I understood his need to be seen for him—a man. It reminded me of me. I didn’t want to be viewed as a divorcee, or a mother of two, or a breast cancer survivor. I just wanted to be recognized as an independent woman—one who wanted to be loved and was willing to give love in return.”

Dunbar does have some little gems hidden within the pages of the book. There are some questions about Tommy’s past and what secrets he may be hiding. Plus, the way she describes Hawaii makes me want to pack my clothes and hop on a plane right now!!!!! And, if you have read her previous books, she gives us a tiny glimpse of one of my favorite places and one of my favorite couples.

Dunbar has proven time and time again what an amazing talent she is. She can write paranormal, contemporary, and dark romance. She can take the legendary Knights of the Round Table and make them into modern rock gods. Now, she has completely turned the genre of steamy, contemporary romance and turned it on its head making it all her own!!!!!

I follow the gossip of Hollywood so this book plays out the way I could see things going in real life for the rich and famous. The smoking hot chemistry between Brett and James was captured very well by the author. Great story about friendship, love and the stress of being in the film industry and all that comes with it. This story is told from both Brett and James’ POV which made the story that much more whole for me. If you like a great story with lots of sexiness, you don’t want to miss this one!

This book is H-O-T!!!

When Emma attends her college friend’s wedding, she didn’t realize that it was going to be a bit unconventional. She didn’t know that her friend was living in a fully Dom/sub relationship until it was time for the “collar” part of the ceremony. She also didn’t expect to meet Matthew, another Dom, who wanted to make a bet with her to prove that she was also a sub at heart.

Emma is attracted to Matthew and a bit curious about the lifestyle so she agrees to the bet. But she has no idea exactly what she is signing up for or how it will affect her. Will Emma win the bet and prove that she is no one’s submissive or did she just need the right Dom to show her a different side of herself?

Penny Wylder does not disappoint with this story!! It has been a very long time since I read a BDSM story and I was unsure if I would enjoy it anymore but it was great!! The chemistry between Emma and Matthew was off the charts hot and I had to fan myself more than once while reading this book! Both Emma and Matthew were likeable characters and the story behind all the hot sex was fantastic! If you enjoy a hot story with a bit of kink involved, definitely check out this book!!

~ Lara ~

We stop walking and turn to face the emerald waters. The briny air pushes her hair back and around her shoulders. Tendrils spin around my face, and the inescapable sorrow filters through my chest.

“I can’t do this anymore.”

“Yes, you can.” Her voice is flat, and she bends to put Pierre on the dry sand. “I’m going up. How much longer will you be out here? Celeste is making Quiche Lorraine for breakfast.”

Another sigh. “I’ll be up in a bit. I’m finishing my exercise.”

“Don’t stay out too long or I’ll eat all the food! Come, Pierre!”

I watch her run up the tall staircase, her little dog at her heels, thinking of the reasons she has to run. I remember her as a small girl on the street, in the dark alley behind the theater. She was thin and starving and hunched in the corner waiting to die.

She was so malnourished, I thought she was younger than her actual age, which was twelve. I remember carrying her inside and fighting with Rosa. I remember Rosa boxing my ears and telling me the first time that kid cried, she’d throw us both in the alley with the rats. I remember the terror I felt that night and Molly falling asleep so quietly with her head on my chest.

She needed me. She loved me, and I loved her fiercely in return.

I remember her running around the theater, a sweet and innocent kid never suspecting the hawk was circling above, watching her, closing in to steal her soul and warp her future. I’ll never forgive myself for what happened to her. I’ll never forgive myself for not being there to protect her.

A flash of pain moves through my stomach, and I remember someone saying the same words to me not so long ago…

Walking to the edge of the water, I look out at the surf, at the waves rushing in and out. I think about how nothing bad can happen here. The sins of the past are far, far away from this beautiful place.

Only it’s a lie.

The sins of the past are never far away.

We carry them with us in our hearts wherever we go.

No matter how far we run, we can never outrun ourselves.

Tears are in my eyes, and I blink them away. My emotions are so close to the surface these days. I squat and wrap my arms around my knees, holding my insides together and wishing…

My wishes never come true.

“Lara!” A strong male voice cuts through the breeze.

For a moment I don’t believe it. It’s a wish caught on the wind and carried away out to sea.

“Lara!” It’s louder this time, closer.

Nervous anticipation floods my chest. I stand and look up and over my shoulder. The staircase where Molly descended is empty. The one ahead of it is empty as well.

Was it a dream?

Another shout, and I realize it’s coming from behind me. Turning, I see a tall figure jogging down the steps. He’s alone, and he’s moving fast. I look around, and no one is here. I have nowhere to run, nowhere to hide.

My heart alternates between beating out of my chest and dying. I’m back on that train, seeing him for the first time out of the blue, completely caught off-guard, alternately panicking and rejoicing… He’s alive!

He’s wearing faded jeans and a plain white t-shirt. His caramel hair is a little longer, but not much. It moves in the breeze as he approaches me.

He’s strong and pure and gorgeous as ever, and the way we touched, our glorious reunion is stronger and hotter in my memory than the sun climbing higher in the sky.

I want to cry. I want to sing. I want to hold him…

But now everything has changed.

5 FREAKING AMAZING STARS!!!!!

OMG!!! What a ride Tia Louise just took me on, filled with action, suspense, love, and some steamy romance!!! I thought the first book of the duet was outstanding, but she blew this one completely out of the water.

I don’t want to go into much detail because I would never want to spoil a thing for readers. Quite some time has passed since the ending of the first book, but it starts out with a bang and with a few surprises. Mark is bound and determined to not let Lara out of his grasp again. You have to love a man with that kind of tenacity. A great deal of this book involves suspense and a quest for vengeance. I thought Lara was a tough cookie in book 1, but she amazed me even more in this book. I liked the fact that Louise continued to build and strengthen the love between Mark and Lara. She also gave her readers a more in-depth look into Molly. She was a major player in this book.

This duet is a completely different type of second chance romance! As in book 1, there is darkness and pain, but Louise also gave us light, joy, hope, and second chances. If you are looking for something different, I highly recommend reading these two books! The icing on the cake…the ENDING! OMG!!! I can’t wait to see what is next.
