The Purrfect Pet Sitter
by Carol Thomas
Introducing Lisa Blake, the purrfect pet sitter!
When Lisa Blake’s life in London falls apart, she returns to her hometown rebranding herself as ‘the purrfect pet sitter’ – which may or may not be false advertising as she has a rather unfortunate habit of (temporarily) losing dogs!
But being back where she grew up, Lisa can’t escape her past. There’s her estranged best friend Flick who she bumps into in an embarrassing encounter in a local supermarket. And her first love, Nathan Baker, who, considering their history, is sure to be even more surprised by her drunken Facebook friend request than Lisa is.
As she becomes involved in the lives of her old friends Lisa must confront the hurt she has caused, discover the truth about her mysterious leather-clad admirer, and learn how to move forward when the things she wants most are affected by the decisions of her past.

What a charming and delightful read! I really needed something to lighten my mood, and this book definitely did that!!!!
The book is mostly told from Lisa and her childhood friend, Flick’s, POV. Lisa had a life in London, but that all fell apart, and she returns to her hometown working as a “purrfect pet sitter,” although some of her furry friends give her the slip. She is adjusting to life back home, but she feels like so many of the residents have gone on with their lives. She doesn’t feel like she fits in anymore.
Flick has also dealt with happiness and disappointments. She is a harried but for the most part a happy and content mother. She has a good relationship with her husband. However, when she runs into her old friend, Lisa, she is instantly brought back to a time when her best friend hurt her greatly, and they haven’t been in contact in years.
As much as this was a light and sweet read, there were also moments about real life…being a mother and wife, losing touch with a lost love and the rekindling of that romance, forgiving old hurts, getting to know loved ones from your past, and loving them for the people they are now.
I am so glad I picked up this little gem of a book. It was full of love, humor, and great secondary characters, even the furry ones! It was a great way to spend my afternoon!!!
