Title: COUNTERFEIT BOYFRIEND
Author: Cindi Madsen
Genre: Contemporary Romance
About Counterfeit Boyfriend:
My twin brother’s talked me into a lot of crazy things, but taking his place on a road trip with his girlfriend so he can party with his friends is a whole new level of insanity. What’s even more insane is I somehow find myself agreeing to it—thanks, alcohol, guilt, and bribery. I’m determined to undo the arrangement, but then I meet Gwen, this sexy redheaded hurricane of energy and brains.
And then she kisses me. Just like that, I’m driving her up the coast, on our way to a wedding with a mess of complications. With each hour and each stop, I’m falling harder and harder for a woman who doesn’t know my actual name.
I’m trying to do the right thing. Or the lesser of the wrong things. All my life I’ve had to clean up my brother’s messes, but for the first time ever, I’ve landed the upper hand in one of our switcheroo schemes. Now I’ve just got to come clean and convince Gwen that I’m the brother she should be with.
This is an adorable book that was sweet, sexy, and it left me with a smile on my face!
I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when I read the synopsis. I mean I was definitely intrigued, but twin brothers switching places…I wasn’t sure if I would like this. But, I loved it.
Ethan and Gwen are just the cutest couple ever! Ethan really is a good guy. He just lets his twin brother, Evan, talk him into some not so smart things, like stepping in to be Gwen’s boyfriend. Not only that, but to go on a road trip and be her date for a wedding. Ethan has every intention of telling her the truth the first time he meets her explaining what a jerk his brother is, and she deserves someone else. With their first touch, it’s magic. He goes along with the plan, again telling himself he needs to come clean, but his feelings always get in the way. This is very underhanded, and when Gwen finds out, he may just lose her forever. Madsen does a great job of showing readers how conflicted he is. I admire his restraint. There are a lot of steamy make out sessions, and I could clearly see how much hurt and guilt was involved when it was his brother’s name falling from her lips and not his.
Gwen is one of those women I would want in my inner circle of friends. She is like a ray of sunshine, and her energy is a whirlwind. She is beautiful, quirky, and witty. She was betrayed in the worst way possible. This is why she wanted her boyfriend, “Evan,” at her friend’s wedding with her. Yet, as hurt as she is, she hasn’t let that destroy her. Yes, she has some trust issues, and she definitely is choosy in who she will give her heart to. She does notice differences in “Evan,” but it doesn’t take away from who she is. She isn’t a fool about not knowing the difference between the brothers. She had no clue Evan had a brother, much less a twin. I felt like Ethan did, Evan doesn’t deserve her heart. Yet, I wanted him to be honest with her, and at least give her a chance to know him and fall in love with “Ethan.”
There is an instant love connection between Gwen and Ethan which some would say wasn’t realistic, but I loved it. It is one of those romances that curled my toes and warmed my heart. I thought she struck the perfect balance between sexy and sweet. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we will get Evan’s story soon. I can’t wait to get to know the woman who finally brings that man to his knees!!!!

Cindi Madsen is a USA Today bestselling author of contemporary romance and young adult novels. She sits at her computer every chance she gets, plotting, revising, and falling in love with her characters. Sometimes it makes her a crazy person. Without it, she’d be even crazier. She has way too many shoes, but can always find a reason to buy a pretty new pair, especially if they’re sparkly, colorful, or super tall. She loves music and dancing and wishes summer lasted all year long. She lives in Colorado (where summer is most definitely NOT all year long) with her husband, three children, and one overly-dramatic tomcat.
