Sometimes love’s a drug. The rush can be so addicting. All that matters
is the high. Not the consequences. Not the damage left in its wake.
Adrian Robison was a college football star, with his future all mapped out. He didn’t
expect to fall for feisty Leah Hunter.  Nor did he expect the destruction left in its wake when it all came to an end,
Now, Adrian’s a hotel magnate and one
of the most eligible bachelors in the world.
He has it all, except the one woman he has kept in his heart for years. And he’s willing to do anything to
get her back.
Leah hasn’t seen Adrian since the day she was forced to pick up the pieces of her broken heart.
When Leah is assigned to write a piece on him for her magazine, remnants of their torrid romance still burn like yesterday.
Will the high be worth it this time? Or is it destined
to crash and burn?

Adrian laughed sitting up. “Well, maybe it’s weird that you haven’t let it go yet, but I have to admit I do admire that kind of dedication.”
I smiled and got off of his arm to playfully push him.
“Here you go teasing me again,” I said sticking out my tongue in a mock manner.
“No teasing. Just stating
what I noticed. That is it. I promise. I don’t want a repeat of earlier.”
My stomach at that moment dropped and all the fluttering started
again. It was as if there was a family of butterflies were fluttering around in my stomach and I was helpless to stop them. I didn’t know why, but I did like Adrian more that I had cared to admit. It was why he got under my skin so much because even though
he was the kind of guy I would normally stay away from.
I played with my fingers trying to think of a good excuse to have him leave. I need
him to get out of my space so I could think clearly again. Him and I wouldn’t work. I knew that. I knew that better than he probably did. We were too different from each other and had different goals. It was all I needed to know and for that reason, we wouldn’t
work out. I needed him to get out of my personal space, and I could go back to keeping my distance. That was the only way I would be able to do that. If he stayed away I could keep all these confusing feelings at bay.
“Leah?” Adrian said softly interrupting my thoughts and I turned towards him.
“Yes?”
“You are probably the most beautiful girl on this campus. No, you are the most beautiful girl on this campus and you don’t even know it,” he said.
“What do you mean?”
“You’re just you. I like
you. The real you underneath that mask you wear.”
And with that his fingers lightly touched my face to tilt it towards his. I could feel my heart thumping hard again against my chest and all of a sudden
I felt lightheaded. He was making me feel crazy, but in a good way. He leaned towards me as my heart raced, and his cologne invaded my nostrils. Leaning in his lips lightly touched mine. Almost grazed them, and I sighed. He took that as a go ahead, and his
kiss hardened as he pried my mouth open with his tongue. I felt myself tremble as he pulled me into his arms, and my head started to spin. This wasn’t supposed to feel this way. I was sure of that. I wasn’t supposed to feel dizzy, almost drunk, but at the
same time it felt so good. It felt right.

“Heat, heart and plenty of happy sighs.”
— Avery Flynn, USA Today bestselling author

Handle with Care, an all-new sexy and emotional second chance romance from Nina Croft is AVAILABLE NOW!

2018-0682 Nina Croft b01

Synopsis

What if all you want is the one thing you can’t have?

First-grade teacher Emily Towson always does the right thing. The sensible thing. But in her dreams, she does bad, bad things with the town’s baddest boy: Tanner O’Connor. But when he sells her grandmother a Harley, fantasy is about to meet a dose of reality.

And then he goes and calls her “sensible”…

Tanner can’t believe sweet Emily is standing in his shop. Yelling and waving her hands and looking so god damn sexy he’s having trouble focusing. He’d spent two hard years in prison, with only the thought of this “good girl” to keep him sane.

He really should send her away…

Before either one thinks though, they’re naked and making memories on his tool bench with apparently the oldest condom in history. Now Tanner’s managed to knock-up the town’s “good girl” and she’s going to lose her job over some stupid “morality clause” if he doesn’t step up.

But can this bad boy teach his good girl they’re perfect for each other in time?

Excerpt:

“Tanner.”

Just the way she said his name, sort of breathless, made him hard. He nodded.“Emily.”

“What are you doing here?” Her eyes narrowed.“Did you follow me?”

“You looked a little upset. I was just making sure no one else followed you.”

“You mean Ryan? He’s being a total pain in the…”

“Ass?”

“Yes.” She pressed her finger to the spot between her brows.“I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I’m usually so…” She took a couple of deep breaths.“He was making me so angry.”

“I thought he was your boyfriend?”

“Not anymore. It’s over between me and Ryan. It was over before that night you and I…”

He decided to help her out.“Had hot, dirty sex on top of the workbench in my garage. Then up against the wall in my garage.”

She gritted her teeth but gave a quick nod.

“Why was it over with Mr. Perfect? Did he finish with you?” Maybe she’d needed some sort of affirmation of herself as a sexy woman. He wanted to beat Ryan for that, though he had ultimately benefited from it.

“None of your business.”

“Come on, Em. I’m curious.”

Her face took on a mutinous expression, lips pursed.“He said I was sensible and then he asked me to marry him.”

Tanner managed to choke back the laugh, but she must have seen it on his face.

“It’s not funny.”

He’d proposed? That made Tanner want to growl. But she had a point. It sounded as though Ryan had fucked up on the proposal. Tanner certainly wasn’t sorry. Ryan’s loss, his gain.“Let me get this straight. If he hadn’t called you sensible, you would have said yes?”

“Probably not. He told me he’d decided it was time to settle down, and I was a nice, sensible woman, and would make him a suitable wife. Or something like that. I sort of stopped listening at ‘sensible.’What sort of man starts a proposal by saying you’re sensible?”

“An asshole?”

“Yes. Exactly. I said I didn’t think we were suited and walked out. Then when I got home, Mimi told me she’d bought a bike from you, and then she more than hinted that I was sensible, too. So when you said it as well, I just…sort of blew.”

“Actually, you kissed me, then you stripped, then you threw yourself at me. I didn’t stand a chance.” He had an image of her standing naked in front of him, challenging him to do something, and almost groaned.

“I did not throw myself at you.”

He just stood there, one eyebrow raised.

She folded her arms across her chest.“Anyway.I thought you were pretending that never happened?”

“Believe me, I’m trying. But I keep getting these little flashbacks at the most inappropriate times. Like when I’m picking up a tool from my workbench and there you are, all soft and naked and panting for me.”

Why did he do this to himself? His dick was almost painfully hard.

She was staring at him wide-eyed, her pink lips slightly parted. She didn’t move. He cast a quick look around the street—it was empty—then he closed the space between them, lowered his head, and kissed her before she could even have an idea of his intentions. He half expected her to pull back and run away, but her lips softened, then parted under his, and he slipped his tongue inside, sliding it along the length of hers. He kissed her until they both ran out of air. He hadn’t thought kissing was such a big deal, but he could kiss Emily all night.

About Nina:

Growing up in the cold, wet, north of England, Nina Croft spent a lot of time huddled under the blankets dreaming of faraway sunnier places and ponies. When she discovered both could be found between the covers of a book, her life changed forever.

At the age of eighteen, in an attempt to turn dreams into reality, she headed south in search of the sun. She quickly picked up the perfect husband along the way and developed a taste for red wine and holidays in warm places.

Soon holidays weren’t enough, and together they volunteered to work in Africa where they both discovered a love of traveling and a dislike of 9-5 work. Afterward, they spent a number of years traveling (whenever possible) intermingled with working (whenever the money ran out.) Eventually, they stumbled upon a remote area in the mountains of southern Spain where they bought the small almond farm they now call home.

No electricity, no neighbors, no chocolate shops, but on the plus side, stunning scenery, a vineyard to make her own red wine, and far enough away from anywhere to satisfy Nina’s hermit tendencies. She shares the farm with her husband, and an ever-increasing number of animals, including Piggles, a three-legged Vietnamese pot-bellied pig.

Nina now spends her days riding her mare Gencianna under the blue Spanish skies—sunshine and ponies. She reckons this is proof that dreams really can come true if you want them enough.

She still travels, but usually only in her imagination, and can often be found lying under a fig tree, wine in hand, plotting stories of love in faraway places.

Nina believes love can come to anyone, anytime, anywhere and her books reflect this.

Synopsis

Looks aren’t everything.

It’s true. I’m not what most people would call “pretty” and, well, high school was rough. Fast forward ten years and life is good…

Until a bunch of jerks think it’s hilarious to put the “butterface” (AKA me) on a wedding Kiss Cam with the hottest guy ever—and that old humiliation hits hard.

I recognize him immediately. The hottest cop in Waterbury and totally out of my league.
But then he kisses me.
And we totally forget the room, the crowd, everything.
Then he tells everyone we’ve been dating for months.

Soon everything starts to feel too real, from adorable fights over “necessary” tools to fix my broken porch to surviving a free-for-all dinner with his six siblings to picking up where our last kiss left off.

But there’s something he’s not telling me about why he’s really hanging around, and I’m pretty sure it has to do with my mob-connected brothers.

Because this is not a makeover story, and Cinderella is only a fairy tale…

Excerpt:

“Do not disrespect the Kiss Cam, Hartigan!” someone bellowed out as the chanting crowd grew more restless. And louder.

“One quick kiss,” he said, his tone grim with a thread of something more vulnerable underneath. “Then, they’ll leave us alone.”

That’s when Gina’s gaze moved from her own face, blotchy with embarrassment on the screen, over to him. The tips of his ears were scarlet, and he was tapping the tips of his middle finger and thumb together like he was keeping rhythm for a ska band.

He was hiding it better, but the reality was he wasn’t enjoying this anymore than she was.

Glancing from the screen to the actual man himself, her lungs tightened. He was a big guy, and she wasn’t just talking about his broad shoulders that filled out his tux to a mouthwatering degree. He had to have at least four inches on her own five foot ten.

He glanced down, making eye contact, and for a second they weren’t the hottie and the nottie. They were two people stuck in a completely socially awkward situation that they had no control over.

She nibbled the inside of her cheek and considered her options before deciding that Ford was right. A quick peck would get the videographer out of their faces and divert the boisterous crowd’s attention to another couple happier to indulge in this bit of insanity. Then, she could finish up the last of her duties and go home to her peaceful, if totally messy, mid-renovation Victorian.

She let out a shaky breath, not sure she was making the right decision. “Fine. A kiss. Whatever.”

Gina had barely gotten the words out when his large hands cupped her face, sending electric shock waves through her that made her lips part slightly with surprise. He dipped his head down—and he kissed her.

The roar of approval from the crowd faded to almost nothing when he seemed to groan involuntarily. Her body approved and made an answering sound of its own. At her encouragement, his tongue slicked across her bottom lip, and her mind lost all reasonable thought. Teasing her senses and sending her heartbeat into overdrive, she softened against him, practically melting against his hard, muscular chest. Somewhere in the back of her mind she registered that people were cheering. She just couldn’t for the life of her care. The world turned electric as the air practically vibrated against her skin as he deepened the kiss. His tongue swept against hers in a brief but oh-so-potent move that had her clutching his lapel before she’d even realized she’d lifted her hands.

Then, almost as soon as it began, he lifted his head and stepped back, breaking the connection.

Dazed, she released his tuxedo jacket and looked around, catching sight of herself on the giant screen. Her face was flushed and her eyes hazy. She pressed her fingers to her still-tingling lips. She looked like a woman who’d been kissed senseless, which made sense because that was exactly what had just happened.

About Avery
USA Today bestselling romance author Avery Flynn has three slightly-wild children, loves a hockey-addicted husband and is desperately hoping someone invents the coffee IV drip.

She fell in love with romance while reading Johanna Lindsey’s Mallory books. It wasn’t long before Avery had read through all the romance offerings at her local library. Needing a romance fix, she turned to Harlequin’s four books a month home delivery service to ease the withdrawal symptoms. That worked for a short time, but it wasn’t long before the local book stores’ staffs knew her by name.

Avery was a reader before she was a writer and hopes to always be both. She loves to write about smartass alpha heroes who are as good with a quip as they are with their *ahem* other God-given talents. Her heroines are feisty, fierce and fantastic. Brainy and brave, these ladies know how to stand on their own two feet and knock the bad guys off theirs.

The Cheesemaker’s House by Jane Cable Blog Tour with Review & Excerpt

The Cheesemaker’s House

by Jane Cable

SYNOPSIS

Just think, Alice, right now Owen could be putting a hex on you!

When Alice Hart’s husband runs off with his secretary, she runs off with his dog to lick her wounds in a North Yorkshire village. Battling with loneliness but trying to make the best of her new start, she soon meets her neighbours, including the drop-dead gorgeous builder Richard Wainwright and the kindly yet reticent cafe´ owner, Owen Maltby.

As Alice employs Richard to start renovating the barn next to her house, all is not what it seems. Why does she start seeing Owen when he clearly isn’t there? Where – or when – does the strange crying come from? And if Owen is the village charmer, what exactly does that mean?

Praise for Jane Cable

The Cheesemaker’s House is a gripping read, inspired by a framed will found in the dining room of the author’s dream Yorkshire house. The previous owners explained that the house had been built at the request of the village cheesemaker in 1726 – and that the cheesemaker was a woman. And so the historical aspect of the story was born.

Jane Cable’s novel won the Suspense & Crime category of The Alan Titchmarsh Show People’s Novelist competition, reaching the last four out of over a thousand entries. The Cheesemaker’s House can be enjoyed by anyone who has become bored of today’s predictable boy-meets-girl romance novels.

“I desperately want to find out about Owen; a fascinating character… the gift here is to make you want to read on.”

Jeffrey Archer

EXCERPT

Alice meets Richard, the rather hunky local builder

My mental image of a Yorkshire builder was a rotund man in a cloth cap who would exhibit a great deal of sucking of teeth when confronted with my barn. I certainly didn’t expect Richard Wainwright to be tall, dark and handsome with a couple of days of designer stubble and a gold hoop in his left ear. But then I didn’t expect a naked swimmer to be reading the lesson in church either. It’s clear I’m going to have to abandon my southern prejudices sooner rather than later if I’m going to fit in here. But I still can’t help feeling we should all be running around downing mugs of tea you can stand a spoon up in, not drinking skinny lattes.

In this aspect of his behaviour Richard doesn’t disappoint. I am already making the second pot when he reappears from his prodding and poking in the barn, drapes his long body against my kitchen doorframe and says

“I can do it, but it’s going to cost you.”

“I expect it to cost me” I grin at him. “It’s a wreck I want to turn into a luxury holiday pad – I know that won’t come cheap.”

He wanders into the kitchen and sits down at the table. “I’ll need to do a proper quote, but I reckon in the region of twenty grand. It’s a lot of money – take you a while to get it back.”

“I’ll get it back when I sell though.”

“Oh, so that’s your game is it; buy – do up – sell – quick buck.” He looks disapproving.

“No. It’s not my game. It’s my insurance policy in case I don’t like it here.”

He stretches back in his chair and picks up his tea. “So why did you come? I’m curious.”

“Well, you mustn’t tell anybody, but I’m on the run from an international drug smuggling cartel and I thought they’d never find me in Great Fencote.”

“Hmm… I wouldn’t be so sure. You don’t know what evil walks the streets of Northallerton. Only last week someone was prosecuted for putting the wrong sort of yogurt pot in their recycling bin – it was all over the papers.” We both burst out laughing.

“Seriously, love” he carries on “If you don’t want to say then that’s your business. No-one round here’s going to mind.”

“I was just trying to make it sound more exciting than it is. My husband ran off with his secretary, that’s all.”

“It happens. My wife left me for a pen pusher at the council. Said she’d had enough of muddy boots all through the house. Each to their own, I suppose.” He shrugs.

“The funny thing is” I continue hesitantly “That when it happens to you, you feel like it’s never happened to anyone else. When someone else says it, you realise just how common it is.”

“Human nature, love. We’re not cut out to be monogamous. We get bored and we move on, that’s all there is to it. Still, if you get lonely and fancy a shag…”

“Let’s see what sort of builder you are first” I snap. Maybe a little too tartly, so I put on a smiley face and continue “I want to know if the muddy boots are worth it.”

    Richard roars with laughter.

Christie’s Review

4 STARS

What an utterly charming and unique read!!! It is a romance with a sprinkle of paranormal that makes this an addictive read.

Alice seeks comfort and solace in a North Yorkshire village after her husband runs away with his secretary. I admire a woman who pulls herself up after her life is turned upside down, and that is exactly what Alice does. Her life isn’t perfect, and she is lonely, yet she continues her journey to being whole again. She meets new people, but one man affects her more than any other, Owen. He is kind and sensitive with a bit of mystery about him. Alice has no clue of  the journey that Owen will take her on.

Oh my goodness, there is so much going on within the pages of this book. It’s one of those that pulled me in and really put me right in the middle of the story itself. It’s well-written. Every single one of the characters are extremely well-developed, and each adds something pivotal to the story. As much as this is told in Alice’s voice, I also discovered so much about Owen through her eyes. When you add in the mystery, the historical elements, and the paranormal aspects, along with a beautiful scenery, it’s quite a read!!!!

EXCERPT:

She’d known all along he’d lied about his identity in order to secure this appointment. Admiration flowed through him, along with a strange punch in his gut that urged him closer. The spicy scent of orange blossoms and clove filled the air, making him want to breathe deeper. “How did you know?” he asked, stopping on the opposite side of the monstrous espresso structure that held two oversized monitors, dozens of papers, and a toppling pile of books. “I thought I covered my tracks nicely.”

She gave a half shrug and reached for her Starbucks cup, seemingly already bored with his conversation. “You’re predictable.”

Male pride stung, he still couldn’t help laughing. Why did he have to be attracted to a woman who gave him shit? Would be so much easier to find a more complacent partner for an affair. Unfortunately, Nolan knew it was way too late for him. He was officially smitten. “Then I’ll have to up my game.”

Another shrug. “Maybe you have no game left.” She sipped her coffee and studied him, those stunning eyes shielding her secrets. He ached to know every detail about this woman, but knew he’d have his work cut out for him.

“Come to lunch with me and find out.”

She tilted her head. Tapped her index finger again those bee stung lips as if considering. “Why?”

Her question delighted him. “Because the moment you walked into my brewery I haven’t been able to get you off my mind.”

“How sweet.” She fluttered her lashes. “Too bad I forgot you the moment I walked out of your brewery.”

He dropped into the chair opposite the massive desk and hooked his foot over his knee. He made no attempt to hide his naked admiration for those amazing legs or the brazen way she challenged him to go and try. Her foot flexed, lifting the spiked heel, and those sleek muscles clenched under golden skin. His dick practically wept and got strangled in his jeans. “Ouch. What if I confessed you were the first woman in a long while to intrigue me?”

“Yeah? What intrigues you so much?”

He warmed up to the topic. “Besides your rapier wit, and superior intelligence? Your eyes. When I look into your eyes, I seem to lose track of time. I don’t want to be anywhere else.”

Was it possible she actually looked bored with his compliment? She gave a long-suffering sigh, regarding him like he was mentally challenged. “Please tell me you have better things in your arsenal. And you better upgrade from that Peter Gabriel song because it’s been overdone. I spend every Saturday with a personal trainer who makes me throw up for fun, so I really don’t want to hear about my pretty eyes or wit. Go ahead and bring it. Tell me I have a slamming body and get creative, dude, or I’m throwing you out and you won’t get another chance to bang me.”

God, she was magnificent.

But the cake blew up before they could eat it. As for the honeymoon, it’s going to be a mad chase across the globe dodging bullets and bombs to find the culprit who wants them all dead.

Once upon a time, Darren fell for a woman while in the world’s most romantic city. In full view of the Eiffel tower he had his heart torn from his chest and stomped on.

Time for revenge. Francesca played Darren for a fool, but he won’t let it happen again. Now that he’s found her, she’s going to pay for her actions. Problem is she’s getting under his skin. Rubbing against his skin. Making him remember those Paris days and hotter nights.

“Keep away.” Francesca snarled the warning, her gun aimed at Kacy’s face.

The petite Latina with a cool composure probably inherited from a cat, didn’t look daunted at all to be facing down the barrel of a gun. “I’m not here to kill you. Just making sure you aren’t planning to shoot Darren.” Darren being Kacy’s boss. And Francesca’s ex-lover.

“I should. It would make things easier.” So much so if all Francesca needed was to shoot him. “He wasn’t supposed to be here. He ruined everything.” Ruined it with his angry glares–and reminders of a time when those lips used to purse in pleasure, not disdain.

“What’s wrong? Did your new boyfriend not like the one you dumped showing up?” The wind snatched the words from Kacy’s mouth, but the woman stood close enough for Francesca to hear them.

“You don’t understand. No one does. There’s more at stake than you know.”

“Then perhaps you should explain.”

How to make clear that she had no choice? “I was trying, but the Stefanov arrived. He didn’t take kindly to Darren’s treatment of me.” A well-deserved harangue, given what she’d done to him. Some men had a hard time letting go.

“Was that the plan all along? To have Stefanov lure Darren to this island so he could kill him?”

“What? Of course not.” If Francesca wanted Darren dead, she’d do it herself. “You shouldn’t speculate on things you know nothing about.”

“I know that someone is trying to kill Darren, and right about now, you and Stefanov seem like the most likely suspects.”

Stefanov might have his own agenda, but her? “I’m not trying to kill him.” She might be the only one other than Kacy who wasn’t.

“Weren’t you the one claiming the killer was on this island? How else would you know unless it’s you or your new boyfriend?”

The conversation was going nowhere, and Francesca recognized it for what it was. A stalling tactic. She kept her gun steady even when it startled by the arrival of a new player.

“Francesca isn’t the one behind the murder attempts.” Darren’s voice cut through the storm–cold, angry.

She didn’t even think about it, simply angled the gun away from Kacy and pointed it at Darren.

Not one of her brightest moves.

The petite Kacy wasn’t one to waste an opportunity. She lunged forward, thrusting out and punching Francesca in the tit. It shocked more than it hurt and drew a gasp from Francesca. Her fingers loosened enough that Kacy knocked the gun from her hand.

But Francesca didn’t retaliate. Didn’t wipe the smug smirk off Kacy’s face, mostly because she knew that fighting wouldn’t win her this battle.
