How do you date your best friend’s sister? Easy.
Step one: Pretend you want her to set you up with someone else. That will bring the two of you closer.
Step two: Go on date with lots of random women, proceed to get stupid drunk and talk about your best friend’s sister, thus gaining the courage to finally make a move.
Step three: Randomly show up at her apartment and confess your love. Women love that, right?
It all seemed so simple. A fool-proof three step process that will guarantee the love of you life to fall madly in love with you.
At least–that’s what I thought was going to happen. But my attempts to win over Julia Westin backfired in more ways than I can count. The thing about Julia? She’s smart–really smart–and her wicked gaze cuts through all the charm I’ve tried slinging her way. She’s not interested in games, my gifts, or my stories. She might want me too; but she’s not giving in that easy…
A Top Favorite of 2019
Top Read in Romantic Comedy
Well, Meghan Quinn has snagged the spot of my first favorite read of 2019, and she has done it with a great romance, with just the right amount of “feels”, laughter, sweetness, and sexiness!!!
Bram has purposely lost a bet to make Julia, his best friend’s sister, fall head over heels for him. He has a full-proof plan, using her match-making skills to get her to fall in love with him. What could go wrong with this perfect plan? Turns out…a lot, and some of them are hilarious. I couldn’t help but admire Bram for his tenaciousness.
Julia is one of those heroines I just love!!! I felt like she was a friend to me. There wasn’t anything I didn’t like about her. She was independent, fierce, and at times, stubborn. Yet, there was this softness to her as well. She was loyal and loving, and extremely intelligent. She really kept Bram on his toes. She never backed down from him.
As much as I loved Julia, I loved Bram too! As Julia described him: “He’s the man you don’t believe exists until you actually meet him in real life and practically swallow your tongue the minute you make eye contact.” In other words, he was very attractive and exuded sex appeal. Like Julia, he was crazy smart. However, his most attractive quality was his heart. He had one of the biggest hearts, and I love a man that isn’t afraid to follow his heart. His heart led him to Julia, and I so loved watching these two fall for one another.
In addition to having great characters, the story was fantastic. I loved the flashbacks. I felt like it gave me more insight into their relationship. I loved how Quinn created secondary characters who made the book even better. It wasn’t overly dramatic, and Quinn knows the perfect combination of romance, humor, and chemistry that makes her one of my favorite writers. Quinn has proven in the past year what a versatile writer she is. She has written some incredibly serious and emotional books in 2018, and they are just as good as her romcoms. If you are looking for a book that will make you laugh and swoon to start 2019 off with, you can’t beat this one!!!!
