Blonde. Gorgeous. Feisty.
I was smitten. But it didn’t matter because she chose him and
he was my best friend and roommate. I’d never be able to compete with that, so
I pushed her away instead. It was easy when she lived hours away, and I didn’t
have to see her every day, but then she moved in with us.
Now, I’m screwed.
To her singing in the shower every morning,
dancing in the kitchen while she makes coffee, and doing yoga in our living
room, I can’t stop thinking about her in all the wrong ways. She’s not mine and
never will be, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting to push her against a wall
and claim her mouth.
She’s constantly on me for making messes,
bringing chicks home every weekend, and being a smartass when their PDA gets on
my nerves. Considering neither of them know how I feel, it’s not fair for the
way I act toward them. I should move out so I can get over her for good;
however, the selfish part of me can’t let go.
But then the unthinkable happens…
When my best friend dies in a motorcycle
accident, the two of us are left to grieve our loss together. Instead of
pushing her away, I pull her closer.
Just as we come to terms with our new reality,
she finds out she’s pregnant with his baby.
And I’m left to make the hardest decision of my
All-Time Favorite Read
Top 10 Read of 2019
JUST WOW!!!! Baby Mine by Kennedy Fox is a slow-burn, angsty, beautiful, and emotional love story done PERFECTLY!!!!! It’s one of my all-time favorite reads and a top 10 read of 2019 for me.
Lennon turned Hunter’s world upside down the moment he laid eyes on her from across a bar. It should have been the start of something wonderful, but it wasn’t. Instead, Lennon ended up with his best friend, Brandon. It was easy for him when she lived hours away, but now he has to see her every day because she is their new roommate. Poor Hunter used spite to push his feelings away. To say there is tension in the apartment would be an understatement. However, something happens that completely changes the way he treats Lennon, and it will change the course of their relationship.
Hunter is so complicated. I love how the writers wrote his character. Lennon sees him as a jerk who has a revolving door of women in his bedroom, yet we as readers, see exactly who he is. A man who is trying to protect his heart and be the friend he needs to be to Brandon. Part of me was so mad at him with the way he treated her, yet I could understand. Sometimes, his antics even brought a smile to my face. I couldn’t help but fall in love with him myself…especially when tragedy strikes. His true nature is then revealed. He is the biggest support for Lennon, and everything he does, he does for her. Be still my heart…..
Lennon was also a great character. Yeah, I think she needed to be with Hunter in the beginning, but as more was revealed in her relationship with Brandon, I also understood why she gravitated toward him. He was definitely the safer bet, but he was also a good man who adored her. She loved him with her whole heart as well. Lennon still has some maturing to do in regards to her relationship with her parents, and I am sure that will be addressed in Book 2.
I can’t leave this review without saying something about Brandon. As the title suggests, this is a love story about Hunter and Lennon. Thank you, Kennedy Fox, for not making Brandon an afterthought as just a part of the plot to bring Hunter and Lennon together. He really is an integral part of this story, and you made that evident!
As I wrote earlier, this is a slow-burn romance. Their story wasn’t rushed, and it couldn’t be. In addition, the writers dealt with grief in such a realistic and raw way…breaking my heart in the process. However, that is when I know a writer has done their job…they make me feel the emotions. These ladies definitely did that!!! The next book is one of the most anticipated sequels I have been looking forward to in a long time!!!!
