Book Blurb:

They call him the second coming.
Of honor for British football.
Of God in an athlete’s body.
Of every English woman’s fantasy.

Jude Davies is my country’s prodigy on the pitch. More famous than the nobility in Buckingham Palace, he and his merry band of scoundrels rule the Rogue Football Academy and the London nightlife scene alike.

And now, he’s aiming his well-honed set of skills directly at me. His devilish charm is lethal, but with the tragic hand life has dealt me, distractions like him aren’t an option.

Plus, we’re only playing a game. One of convenience, where he needs me to save his reputation, and I need his money to save the one person I love.

Until he wraps me around that immoral finger.
Until I crave that reckless, wild high he provides.
Until I hope for a future that will never happen.

That’s the thing about going toe-to-toe with the next football legend. He’s faster, stronger, and will destroy me every time.

The Second Coming by Carrie Aarons is the first book in her Rogue Academy series, and if this book is any indication, she has a hit series on her hands!!!!

Jude is considered the second coming for British football. He is only 20, but he has spent the majority of his life at the Rogue Football Academy. Now, he is on the cusp of becoming a legend, yet he can’t seem to keep his personal life on track. There are lots of women and partying which keeps him in the tabloids. Aria works on the school grounds sewing the uniforms and as a janitor at night. These two should never have even entered the same atmosphere, but they do and something magical happens that will forever change their lives.

Jude is one of those characters that I love to hate, in the beginning. He is arrogant and a loose cannon. Women do whatever he asks of them, except Aria. She is the complete opposite of Jude. It appears that he loves the attention he gets, Aria avoids attention at all costs.

In the beginning, Jude is pursuing Aria to get her in his bed and out of his mind. She puts the brakes on that very quickly. He comes to admire her for that. She keeps him on his toes, and as she gets to know him better, she discovers there is a lot more to Jude than the public knows. Underneath that arrogant, cocky mask is loyalty and love.

While the romantic part of the book gave me butterflies, it was the underlying story that got to my heart. Carrie Aarons always has a deeper meaning in her books, and this one is no exception. This one shows her readers a darker side to fame. Jude had something devastating happen to him, but he had two brothers to take care of. The media molded him into the arrogant athlete he became. The pressure of taking care of his family and being in the spotlight took its toll on him, but Aria made him a believer in love again. His cold heart started melting when he met her. In turn, he helped her with her trust issues. If you love a book about hope, family, friendship, and love with a bit of spice thrown in, give this book a try! I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Author of romance novels such as Red Card and Privileged, Carrie Aarons writes books that are just as swoon-worthy as they are sarcastic. A former journalist, she prefers the stories she dreams up, and the yoga pant dress code, much better.

When she isn’t writing, Carrie is busy binging reality TV, having a love/hate relationship with cardio, and trying not to burn dinner. She lives in the suburbs of New Jersey with her husband, daughter and dog.
