Saving Grace

Saving Grace

by Jess B. Moore

Brandt Grace is trouble no matter what he says or does, always getting in his own way, and trying to prove he can do better and be better only to fall on his face.  Saving Grace follows Brandt’s unintentional fall for Lola Donovan, the previously friendly girl turned quiet ghost of a girl. They connect at rock bottom, finding an unexpected source of strength in each other. Can they find a way to leave the past behind and build a future together?

Christie’s Review

Saving Grace is a sweet, emotional love story between two individuals who have been lost for some time in their own darkness.

Lola is a shell of the girl she used to be. She is avoiding her family and friends because of something that happened in her past. She is really in a dark place, but her friend, Annabelle changes that with an invitation. Little does she know, this day will change her life.

Like Lola, Brandt is in a place of darkness as well. He has a reputation as a “bad boy,” not to mention he is at odds with his brothers. He is trying his best to prove himself as something other than a failure. When he sees Lola, something in his world shifts, even though they have known each other since they were children.

Both Lola and Brandt are great characters who are complex at their core. They both tugged at my heartstrings. It was as if they recognized the darkness in one another, and it drew them together. They each taught the other how to be strong and believe in themselves. Not only was this a book about finding someone, it was about finding themselves and building a better life from their broken pieces.

The author touched on several sensitive issues such as addiction, domestic abuse, and sexual assault. She did it with candor and class, and really raised some great questions on those topics. I enjoy a good, emotional romance with great characters who really change from the people they were at the beginning of the book, and Jess B. Moss gave me that.

Jess B. Moore is a writer of love stories. When she’s not writing, she’s busy mothering her accomplished and headstrong children, reading obscene numbers of books, and knitting scarves she’ll likely never finish.

Jess lives in small-town North Carolina with her bluegrass obsessed family. She takes too many pictures of her cats, thinking the Internet loves them as much as she does. She is a firm believer of swapping stories over coffee or wine, and that there should always be dark chocolate involved.

The Guilt of a Sparrow is her debut novel combining her interests in family, music, and small towns into a thoughtful tale of growing up and falling in love. Her second book, Fierce Grace, follows similar themes in a whole new way, and can be read as a tie-in or stand-alone. The Worth of a Penny (sequel or stand-alone) released March 2019. Look forward to more books from Jess in the Fox River Romance series.
