Apparently rumors of my sexcapades throughout college reached even her ears, because she wants nothing to do with me, which makes beta testing a bitch. I have thirty days to win her over and prove myself to my bosses.

One thing’s for certain, I’m going to have to buy a hell of a lot of carrots.

The Setup is the 4th book in the Bro Code Series by Rachel Van Dyken, and it is by far my FAVORITE!!!!

This is Finn’s road to his own HEA, and what a journey he takes us on! Finn is now employed in the Wingmen Inc. offices, and that is where he meets his future, in the form of Jillian who is the office assistant. She catches his eye from the very beginning. She is a puzzle to him, and this man loves a puzzle. Jillian is working hard, hoping to get a promotion. She doesn’t have time for romance, even if it is with a god like Finn. Things might just change as the two are forced together to test the new Wingmen app. It was an enjoyable ride watching these two fall for one another. 

Finn was a man of many secrets. I won’t spoil all of them, but one of them is that he hasn’t had a date since high school. Who would have imagined? But, he had been busy on campus as one of the Pleasure Ponies. He is also quirky, funny, and super intelligent. I never knew math and science could be so sexy. He is also persistent. He wants Jillian, and he means to have her!

Jillian, like all the other girls who tame these wild men, is so likeable. She is someone I would like to count as my friend. She is down-to-earth and easy to relate to. She has many of the insecurities normal women do. I loved that Finn always made her feel beautiful even when she didn’t feel that way. 

As in all the other novels, Van Dyken’s sense of humor shines through. I can’t tell you how many times I laughed out loud, most of the time it was at Finn’s Aunt Nadine. I LOVED her! I think she might just need her own book. 

It was a sexy, steamy read that gave me “the swoons.” Again, Van Dyken surprised me as she did in the previous book. However, throughout the entire series, there is a theme of family and friendship. It is because of all these elements that I continually come back to read Rachel Van Dyken. She is an absolute genius of a writer!!!!

Avoiding Temptation is book 3 in the addictive Bro Code Series! It’s sweet, steamy, and pretty funny too!!!!

This book details Slater’s journey to his HEA! I have been waiting for this one. I would have never guessed it would be with Finn’s sister, Tatum. The first time these two meet sparks fly and some fists, namely Finn hitting Slater for hitting on Tatum. Nevermind, that Slater had no idea, but Finn makes it abundantly clear Tatum is OFF LIMITS!!!! Slater tries…hence the perfect title, “Avoiding Temptation.”

Poor Slater is trying, but Tatum is everywhere, especially since she lives in the same dorm room with them, and he most definitely can’t get her out of his mind. These two are perfect for one another. Can they convince Finn of this without wrecking their relationship with him?

There was nothing I didn’t love about Slater and Tatum. Slater is sexy, but his heart is what endeared him to me. He is loyal to those he loves which is why he is worried about betraying Finn’s trust. Tatum is independent and spunky, yet she has a vulnerable side, especially when it comes to her selfish parents. She and Slater are both survivors but in different ways. They challenge one another. That is evident in the banter between these two. I LOVED IT!!!!

One thing I have loved this series is Van Dyken introduced us to the Pleasure Ponies and then continued to build them, letting us get to know them throughout each book. I felt like I knew Slater before this book. She also threw in some sweet little twists I totally didn’t see coming. Can’t wait to get Finn’s story next!

This is another well-researched and thrilling historical novel written by Nancy Jardine!

The book begins not long after the last book ended. Brennus is now back with his family, and it isn’t long before he is doing what he can to fight against the Romans again. One thing remains constant…he has never forgotten Ineda. 

Ineda is still kept as a slave to Tribune Valerius, now he has taken her as his lover. At first, she resents him, but her feelings become more complicated as she spends more time with him. She is still a Celt at heart, but Valerius keeps her safe. Despite her confused feelings for him, she has never forgotten Brennus. 

The timeline is rather long in this installment. Both Brennus and Ineda are going on with their lives. Ineda has finally found a way to get crucial information to her fellow Celts, but she is playing with danger. 

The action is just as thrilling as in the other novels. It is told from several different POVs. I was especially intrigued by Valerius’s passages. He was quite a complex character. He was the enemy, but he did have some redeeming qualities. There were also times where my heart was literally in my throat, not knowing what was going to happen next. This was my favorite book in the series so far. 

As with all the other novels, Jardine again provides a historical context at the end of the book to help readers better understand the time and characters which she writes about. This and her author’s notes are always a favorite part of the books for me.

When the synopsis read: “Relationships are complicated. Long-distance ones, even more so,” this is no exaggeration. I have always thought Lisa and A.J.’s relationship was complicated and complex…well, it’s about to get even more so. This book is full of angst and emotion. My emotions ranged from joy, anger, and sadness. 

I thought their relationship would have somewhat settled into a routine, not always an easy one, but would still have settled somewhat. I was proven wrong. New secrets emerge from both Lisa and A.J. That is where a great deal of the angst originates from. However, Lisa undergoes some really life-changing and hard times. I always felt like Lisa put her own desires and wants below those of A.J. I mean seriously, this woman has great patience when it comes to A.J.’s situation. She undergoes a transformation, and she finally really starts questioning the state of her relationship with A.J. They are a couple I want to make it, but A.J. needs to do some compromising of his own if he wants to keep her. 

The book is a fairly quick read. As I said, there is a lot of angst within the pages, and it packs a huge emotional punch! Be aware: it does contain a cliffhanger. I am one of those weird people who loves a good cliffhanger, so I liked it! I’m looking forward to the next installment in the series!

The Younger Man by Karina Halle strikes the perfect balance of heart-pounding romance and steam but it has an emotional side to it as well. 

Wow!!! Halle truly made my heart pitter-patter with this one! I had butterflies in my stomach. The chemistry between this couple was off the charts hot and steamy yet the romance was also sweet! 

I liked Thalia, but truly the star of the book was Alejo. Some saw him as reckless and impulsive, and he could be. However, he was also loyal and sweet! Those whom he loved never had to doubt his love. He made sure they knew it every day and that would come to include Thalia. 

Thalia has just had a really bad year, a painful divorce that has played out in the public eye. There is no way she will stay with Manchester United as their physical therapist, having to see her ex every day. When she gets a chance to move to Madrid as a physical therapist for the Real Madrid, she jumps at the chance. Who wouldn’t? 

Thalia just wants an opportunity to start over. She wants to find some happiness, and she definitely deserves it. The one thing she isn’t looking for is a relationship…until Alejo Albarado entered her life. She knew there was something special about him the first time she saw him. He’s forbidden. Not only is he the star player of the team, but he is seventeen years younger than her. 

Alejo, like Thalia, has known loss. Halle gave her readers that part of his life from the very beginning of the book. He has worked tirelessly his entire life to provide for his mother and brother. His perseverance made me respect him so much, not only in overcoming a tragic event in his past but in his pursuit of Thalia as well. 

I really enjoyed Halle’s style of writing. She included some scenes from the games, and I felt like a spectator in the stands. Her descriptive writing really made me feel like I was in the quaint bars or on the island that Alejo took Thalia to. 

I also felt an empathy for these characters. They each experienced loss in a different way, but it made it harder for them to trust other people. It was nice to see them knock each other’s defenses down and really grow as people. It wasn’t just a new start with someone else, but it was a new way of life for them, a really happy one!!!

I wasn’t sure how I would like this book. I haven’t read a great deal of forbidden romances, but Karina Halle did a phenomenal job. Yes, this is a work of fiction, but she made the story very realistic. She touched on many reasons why some would hesitate to be involved in that type of relationship. However, her characters found a way to overcome those obstacles. She proved that love knows no age!
