Lucy Berberian is busy preparing her family’s Mediterranean restaurant for Easter on the Jersey Shore—but a batch of sweets is to die for . . .
Bikers are thundering into the seaside town of Ocean Crest for the annual Bikers on the Beach gathering that raises funds for injured veterans. It’s a big boost for the Kebab Kitchen, as well as for local businesses like Melanie Haven’s candy shop. But Melanie is about to find herself in a sticky situation.
When Melanie and Lucy attend a beach bonfire, a local landlord is found dead after apparently choking on a piece of salt water taffy. Melanie, who was known to have a contentious relationship with the victim, is quickly skewered as the prime suspect. But Lucy is determined to prove her friend’s innocence before the real killer coasts free . . .
On the Lamb is an enjoyable, charming addition to an already great series!!!!
Things are pretty calm for Lucy and her family with the exception of planning for Bikers on the Beach and then the busy season will start months later. In addition, she is on the hunt for her own place to live as well. She finds a place, not perfect, but with a perfect view of the ocean. In addition, she has an eccentric landlady, Mrs. Lubinski and her dog, Cupid. She can live with that, but Mrs. Lubinski’s nephew, Gilbert, is another story all together. He is a greedy landlord, trying to put Mrs. Lubinski into assisted living, so he can get her hands on her property. Lucy might be her saving grace.
Lucy and her friend, Melanie, are looking forward to a beach bonfire. However, they weren’t expecting a murder of no other than Gilbert, himself. If that wasn’t bad enough, Melanie has become a prime suspect. They had just had an altercation about him doubling her rent. Lucy’s relationship with Detective Clemmons has just improved. Will her involvement in this investigation demolish that?
I love this series, mostly because of the characters, both primary and secondary. The characters are quirky and memorable, and the author continues to build them throughout the series. I learn something new about them with each book. She also has a great sense of humor. I so enjoyed the inclusion of the pets, Cupid and the cat, Gadoo. They had personalities themselves!!!!
The mystery was great and kept me guessing throughout the book, and readers also saw Lucy’s personal life evolving too. The author combined the perfect amount of mystery, humor, and romance to create a great addition to the series. As always, I love the author’s personal touches, such as her family recipes and the fact that she took some of her favorite memories and included them in the book. If you are looking for a wonderful book and series, this one is a must-read!!!!!
