Unforgettable AMAZON.jpg

Back then, I had it all.

Wicked fastball. Killer instinct. Cocky grin. Full package.

(And believe me, I knew how to score.)

My senior year, I was a first round draft pick with a two-million-dollar signing bonus. Before I could even legally buy myself a beer, I made my Major League debut.

Point is, I was invincible.

Until one day I wasn’t.

After tanking my career—during the World Series, no less—the last thing I want to do is return to my hometown, where every jerk in a ball cap has an opinion about what went wrong with my arm. So when my sister drags me back to town for her wedding, I vow to get in and out of there as quickly as possible.

Then I run into April Sawyer.

In high school we were just friends, but I’d always wanted her, and I’d never forgotten her—the red hair, the incredible smile, the crazy, reckless thing we did in the back of my truck the night we said goodbye. It’s been eighteen years, but one look at her and I feel like my old self again. I can still make her laugh, she can still take me down a notch, and when the chemistry between us explodes, it’s even hotter this time around—and I don’t want it to end.

But just when I think I’m ready to let go of the past and get back in the game, life throws me a curveball I never saw coming.

Beyond the Yew Tree by Rachel Walkley Blog Tour with Review

Beyond the Yew Tree

by Rachel Walkley

Whispers in the courtroom.

Only one juror hears them.

Can Laura unravel the truth by the end of the trial?

In an old courtroom, a hissing voice distracts shy juror, Laura, and at night recurring nightmares transport her to a Victorian gaol and the company of a wretched woman.

Although burdened by her own secret guilt, and struggling to form meaningful relationships, Laura isn’t one to give up easily when faced with an extraordinary situation.

The child-like whispers lead Laura to an old prison graveyard, where she teams up with enthusiastic museum curator, Sean. He believes a missing manuscript is the key to understanding her haunting dreams. But nobody knows if it actually exists.

Laura is confronted with the fate of two people – the man in the dock accused of defrauding a charity for the blind, and the restless spirit of a woman hanged over a century ago for murder. If Sean is the companion she needs in her life, will he believe her when she realises that the two mysteries are converging around a long-forgotten child who only Laura can hear?

Ordinary women.

Extraordinary experiences.

An All-Time Favorite Read

A Top Read of 2020

Beyond the Yew Tree is an absolutely stunning, all-encompassing read!

I never knew I could read close to 400 pages in a 24-hour period, but I did. I couldn’t swipe the pages fast enough. It had all the ingredients I love in a really good book…a good story, likeable characters, and a plot that really moves the book along. This one hit on all three for me.

The synopsis itself caught my attention…a good ghost story. How could I resist? I was right. The story was incredible. It had romance, a ghost or two, mystery, and really two storylines told many, many, many years apart. Every single element in the story connected seamlessly!

Laura was a great character, very complex and complicated. As I continued, the author revealed another layer to her. She evoked such emotion in me. An incident in her past was threatening to determine the rest of her life. She was honest and could be blunt, yet she has serious self-confidence issues. She wanted to love someone and be loved but was afraid to open that part of herself up. It was lovely watching her change.

Sean, her love interest, was such an amazing guy. He had the ability to get her to open herself in ways no one else had. He believed her story of her dreams and visions, and he genuinely wanted to help her solve the mystery.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the two ghosts of the book. I won’t give you their names as that is part of the mystery. They had their own story to tell just like Laura did. Like Laura, I completely connected with them.

There really was never a dull moment in the book. The dreams and visions, and the ingenious part was including the ghosts’ stories. Rachel Walkley included their story right alongside Laura’s which just made the book even better.

Authors come in all shapes, sizes, genres, etc. and many can write a good book. However, it takes a talented writer to tell his or her readers a good story which, of course, makes a great book! Rachel Walkley is an incredibly talented storyteller!!!! Beyond the Yew Tree is a book not to be missed!!!!!

Title: Favourite Hello. Hardest Goodbye.
Author: E.S. Carter
Genre: M/M Romance
Release Date: April 17, 2020
I feel him.
Before I even lay eyes on him, I sense him.
The air in the room seems charged, my awareness of him heightened, but he is a stranger to me.
Unfamiliar, yet familiar.
Unknown, yet known.
And something inside me says, “Hello, I’ve been waiting for you.”
I see him.
I’ve seen him a hundred times before and I know this will not be the last, but each time I do, I feel it.
That invisible tether.
I remember everything.
I remember him.
His eyes lock with mine and then move away too quickly.
I am nothing more than a stranger, another face in the crowd.
While he is my favourite hello, and my hardest goodbye.

Danielle’s Review

Another hit from ES Carter!! This is a wonderful, beautiful love story unlike most other romance books!
Macsen has been very successful in the world of business but thinks nothing of walking away from it all based on a gut feeling. His gut feelings have never steered him wrong and knows that if he’s right, everything he is searching for is in Lily Bay. Prior to arriving in Lily Bay, he bought an old run-down manor at auction that he plans to restore to its former glory.
Ellis has lived his whole life in Lily Bay and loves being the owner/chef of Safe Harbour, a local pub. He’s always felt like there’s a piece missing inside him and has never had a fulfilling personal life. He isn’t sure if the reason for that is because of his sexuality and living in a small village or if it’s something else.
When Macsen sees Ellis in Lily Bay, Macsen knows that he has found his home and what he has been looking for. Will he be able to convince Ellis that they are meant to be together forever?
I loved every part of this story!! Macsen and Ellis are amazing characters and their love story is nothing short of epic!! This story is full of the feels and has all of the elements of a fantastic romance. I was sucked in from the first page and couldn’t put this book down. ES Carter is such a talented storyteller and I love every book she writes. I highly recommend this book as well as all of her other works!!

“You’re in front of me, I can see you, but not only with my eyes. Your voice, the way you speak to me, I hear it, but not only with my ears. My body knows yours, Macs.” I rub a hand over my abdomen. “It knows you in here.” I tap my temple with my finger. “It knows you in here.” And finally, I place a palm on my chest over my heart. “And in here, in here it’s hollow, empty, waiting, always waiting.”
“For what?” His words are a mere whisper of air.
“For you.”

USA Today Bestselling Author, ES Carter, lives in Cardiff, South Wales—the home of castles, dragons, and folklore.
Her family joke that she was born with a book in her hand, and the urge to write stories soon followed.
At eleven, she won her school’s literary prize. At ages fourteen to sixteen – her poetry phase after falling in love with Dylan Thomas and e.e. cummings – she had a few poems published, but life, love, and family overtook her dreams, and she was in her thirties when she began the scary journey of self-publishing.
Her debut and internationally best-selling series, ‘Love by Numbers’, are a set of interconnected stand-alone romances, all with varying themes of love. From second-chance to romantic comedy and M/M romance. These stories do not need to be read in order (apart from the opening duet Nineteen/Twenty One), in fact, she is often guilty of advising readers to start at the last book and work their way back through.
Contemporary romance is not the only genre she writes, her second series, ‘The Red Order’, is as dark and twisted as you can get, but there is beauty there too if you can open your eyes and look.
With many more stories bursting to be set free, she hopes you stay along for the ride.
She loves to connect with readers, so please feel free to friend/follow her on Facebook, IG, and Twitter or join her reader’s group, E’s Elite ❤

Hate to Date You by Monica Murphy

Release Date: April 7, 2020

HateTo Date AMAZON.jpg

Hate to Date You, an all-new standalone contemporary romance in the Dating Series by New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Monica Murphy.

Stella Ricci is bored.

Her overprotective family barely let her out of their sight, despite the fact she’s a grown woman. Yes, she loves her job at her family’s café and she’s the best barista in the entire Monterey Peninsula, but is that enough? She’s thinking no. But what else can she do?

Enter Carter Abbott. Burnt out after the never-ending grind of selling high end real estate in Los Angeles, he’s returned home, unsure of what to do next. He needs someplace to crash temporarily until he gets back on his feet.

It’s easy for Stella to suggest Carter move in. Temporarily of course. It’ll give her someone to talk to. The only problem?

That one night stand Stella and Carter had about a year ago. They never talked about it. They still don’t really talk about it. Despite the fact that the old chemistry has come back full force. Living together has made that obvious. Should they admit that one night wasn’t enough? Or will dating each other turn into an epic fail?

Only one way to find out…

Christie’s Review

The Dating Series by Monica Murphy are interconnecting stories, and this one is the fourth book in the series! I loved Stella and Carter’s story. It was the perfect mix of sexy and sweet!!!!

Stella and Carter are quite a pair!!! While they are a driven pair, they find themselves at a crossroads of sorts in their lives. Stella is bored with her life. She has a good job in her family’s coffee shop, but she wants more. Carter had a successful career in California before coming back home, and he isn’t quite sure what direction he wants to take in his life. So, Stella’s roommate, BFF, and Carter’s sister, Caroline, suggest Carter stay with Stella until he knows what he wants to do. Plus, she won’t feel so bad moving out to be with her fiance. She has NO IDEA what she is asking, especially if she knew her brother and friend had a hot one-night stand a year ago!!!!

Even though they haven’t talked about it, unless Stella’s snarky comments or dirty looks count, the chemistry is still off-the-charts! It was fun to see their sexy banter back and forth, but I liked seeing them become friends mixed with their attraction sizzling under the surface. I kept hoping they would discover they had found the “one” in each other, even if it was fast. As her Nonna said, “Love can start in many ways. All encompassing. Fast and passionate. Slow and thoughtful. We each fall in love at the pace we’re meant to.” I felt like Carter and Stella were meant to be!!!!

Their romance was only a part of the equation. The two of them had to also discover who they were as individuals as well. I just love a relationship where they not only grow together as a couple, but they each grow as independent people as well. That just makes them better together.

I can’t leave this review without giving my thoughts on Stella’s family. They were overprotective, and at times, I thought didn’t give Stella or her grandma the respect they deserved. It did come from a place of love though. My favorite was her Nonna. She was the best…she was feisty and a bit of a matchmaker. She had a lot in common with her granddaughter. That is probably why they had such a special bond!!!!

I haven’t read the other book in the series, but I have to say Murphy has made me a fan, and I can’t wait to get to know the couples in the other books!!!

I’m in the bathroom applying one last coat of mascara to my eyelashes when Carter suddenly appears behind me, his gorgeous face looming over my shoulder. Of course, like the dork that I am, I yelp with a jolt when I first spot him, stabbing myself in the eyeball with the mascara wand.

And like some sort of romcom hero, he rushes for me, his big hands curling around my shoulders and turning me around so I have no choice but to face him. Though I can’t even look at him, considering I’m bent over and holding both hands over my wounded eye.

“Are you all right? I didn’t mean to scare you.” He sounds troubled. Which is good. He should definitely feel bad for causing my injury.

Though really, I’m the one who overreacted and stabbed myself in the first place.

“I’m okay.” I stand up straighter, still cradling my watery, stinging eye. “It only hurts a little.”

“Drop your hand.” He turns away from me, snagging a tissue out of the Kleenex box that’s perched on the back of the toilet, then faces me once more. “Drop it,” he repeats when I still haven’t removed my hand.

Reluctantly I remove my hand from my face, my eyelashes practically stuck together. I’m sure I look a mess and I swallow hard, reaching up to dab at the tender skin beneath my eye, but Carter bats my hand away.

“Let me,” he murmurs as he brushes the tissue underneath my eye, picking up all the excess mascara. “Does it still hurt?”

“A little.” He’s so close. I can see all of his eyelashes, and they’re thick and dark and don’t need a lick of mascara on them, the jerk. He’s freshly shaven, his face nice and smooth, and I sort of want to rub against it. Like a cat.

“I’m sorry I startled you,” he says with the utmost sincerity. “I didn’t mean for you to try to take your eye out.”

A soft laugh escapes me. “I’ve stabbed myself in the eye before with a mascara wand. I’m sure this won’t be the last time.”

He finishes cleaning up the mess I made and then turns me so I face the mirror once more. “Now you’re perfect,” he says, squeezing my shoulders for the briefest moment before he lets go and exits the bathroom, heading straight into his bedroom.

I’m shaken by the encounter and it takes me a minute to get moving again. Since the afternoon at my nonna’s house, we’ve been friendlier. Not so friendly that we fall into bed together, but friendly enough. Which is…nice. I don’t like having hostile feelings toward Carter. What exactly did he ever do to me anyway?

Oh, he just rocked your world and turned you into a firm believer in multiple orgasms, then left you in the dust and never talked to you again.

Right. He did that. And it sucked.

Maizie’s mixing with international stars, spies, and her mother’s dark past in her sixth case in The Wall Street Journal bestselling series.

“Hollywood glitz meets backwoods grit in this fast-paced ride on D-list celeb Maizie Albright’s waning star. Sassy, Sexy, and Fun.” — Phoebe Fox, author of the Breakup Doctor series.

#WannabeDetectiving While ex-celebrity Maizie Albright’s dreams of becoming a for-real private investigator have not exactly been dashed, they have been slightly thwarted. Her ex-manager and still-mother, Vicki Albright, has taken the helm of Nash Security Services while rebuilding her entertainment management company. Sometimes with the same clients. Like Chinese action star, Lili Liang, who’s making the film Unlucky 18 in Georgia.

Thus far, Lili’s living up to her movie title. Her kung fu coach is missing. Her boyfriend’s disappeared. And her director, who gambled on her with the part, might be gambling with her life.

Maizie’s luck is also running out. Maizie and Nash find themselves struggling to balance a new partnership and new relationship between missing persons’ cases, wild goose chases, and tracking a bullet into dangerous places. Sometimes it’s enough to make a girl NOT want to put a ring on it. When it comes to facing an 18-caliber killer, what will Maizie put up as the target? Her heart or her life?

Christie’s Review

I have long been a fan of Larissa Reinhart, and 18 Caliber is exactly why she is one of my “go-to authors.” She knows just the perfect combination of mystery, romance, and laughs!

Maizie and Nash are adjusting to working for her controlling and egocentric mother, Vicki. They are doing more security rather than investigation, but all that changes when a man goes missing, there is a mysterious shooting and a bullet in a door…all three things lead back to, you got it, Vicki. Could she actually be involved in it? It is up to Nash and Maizie to find out. Buckle up, it’s a wild ride with twists and turns told in only the way Reinhart can tell it!!!!!

As much as the mystery dominates the book, the characters are getting more fleshed out, and I am learning things about them I didn’t know. For example, Vicki might actually be human!!!!! As always, I love Maizie and Nash. Their relationship seems to be moving along, but some changes are on the way for them. I am highly anticipating the next book to join them in their next pursuit. In addition, I’m eager to see where Vicki is going!

If you like your mysteries with humor and romance, with quirky characters, you can’t go wrong with anything that Larissa Reinhart writes!!!! She is an incredibly gifted storyteller!

About CD Reiss

CD Reiss is a New York Times bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn’t pick up she’s at the well hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master’s degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels.

She’s frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn’t ever gotten her out of chopping that cord of wood.

If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

Summer at the Highland Coral Beach Blog Tour with Review

Summer at the Highland Coral Beach

About the Book

Summer at the Highland Coral Beach

Escape to the Highland Coral Beach – where broken hearts can be healed

Beatrice Halliday needs a break from life. Booking a trip to the Highlands on a whim, Beatrice hopes learning Gaelic in a beautiful Scottish village might help her heal her grief after losing her baby, her husband and her much loved job in a space of months.

But Port Willow Bay isn’t exactly as the website promised. Instead of learning a new language, she’s booked in to learn the ancient skill of willow weaving, her hotel room is Princess and the Pea themed (with a stack of mattresses for her bed!) and worse still, her tutor is Atholl Fergusson, grumpy landlord of the hotel where Beatrice is staying – and she’s the only one doing the course.

But as Beatrice finds herself falling in love with Port Willow Bay and its people, and as she discovers the kind heart beneath Atholl’s stony exterior, can she really leave?

Escape to the beautiful Scottish Highlands with this utterly romantic, feelgood book; one visit to Port Willow Bay and you’ll want to come back! Fans of Sarah Morgan, Carole Matthews and Holly Martin will be captivated.

Christie’s Review

Escape to the Highland Coral Beach is a charming, and uplifting little read! It was truly a pleasurable escape!

Beatrice Halliday has had a rough, rough several months. She lost her job. Her heart is breaking since she lost her baby as well in a miscarriage. To add insult to injury, her husband took off, not able to handle the loss either. Now, she is left to mourn alone. One night after too many glasses of alcohol, trying to drown her sorrows, she gets spontaneous and books herself a trip to Port Willow Bay in Scotland to learn Gaelic.

Upon arrival, she discovers that she has been scheduled to learn willow weaving. The inn isn’t what it was supposed to be either. She does get herself a tutor who will teach her Gaelic. His name is Atholl Fergusson. However, he isn’t pleasant at all. He is quite the opposite, distant and grumpy. Nothing is going how she planned.

As she begins spending more time in this lovely setting, she discovers that she is quite coming to love this little town, and it might just be what she needs to help heal her broken heart. She begins seeing a different side to Atholl as well. They both might just heal each other.

I love books about hope and second chances. This one definitely fits those categories! I loved the story, the characters, and the setting. Looking forward to reading more from this author!

New Release and Review: Bachelor Boss (The Bachelors Club Book 2) by Sara Ney

Release Date: April 7

What is The Bachelors Club?
It’s a gentleman’s club—like the dignified men of the past used to have. Except, we’re not gentleman, and we’re not dignified.
We’re ineligible bachelors, bored, jaded and not looking for relationships. Quite the opposite actually. So committed to being single, we’ve created a high stakes bet to see who can remain single the longest…
Four days co-habitating in a shared work space shouldn’t be a big deal. It shouldn’t be distracting. But Spencer Standish saw me puking in a company trash can, and won’t let me live it down. Cheerful, aggravating Spencer, who wants me to fetch her coffee.
As if she’s the boss of me.

And now I’m stuck sharing her office.
Let’s face facts: I can’t be in a relationship; not when there’s a bet to win—not with Spencer, who loves my uncontrollable basset hound, lazy Sundays, and grilled cheese as much as I do. I refuse to fall for her.

will be the last Bachelor standing.

If you are looking for a sweet, charming, read filled with quirky characters, fun banter, and dialogue, you can’t go wrong with Bachelor Boss by Sara Ney!

Phillip is one of two single guys left in their club of three. He has no intention of losing their bet and every intention of being the last bachelor standing. Too bad, he didn’t see Spencer coming! She is about to turn his life upside down!

The two work on opposite sides of the same company. They have never met, but oh what a first meeting they have, imagine expired cream cheese and barfing in a wastebasket. To add insult to injury, they now have to share the same office space while renovations are being done on Phillip’s side of the company. Each of them know how to get under each other’s skin, and it becomes their favorite past time, each trying to annoy the other one! What begins as aggravation and mild dislike of one another turns to friendship and more. All this happens within the span of a week. Some would think that the book would be too rushed, but not in Sara Ney’s talented hands. It works, and it works well.

This romance is different from others I have read, but I really liked it. Phillip isn’t the sexy alpha male. He’s sexy, but more in a nerdy way! He was a sweetheart!!!! Spencer is sassy, but she is also sweet and takes care of our hero. The two are perfectly matched. Much of the book is dialogue driven as the setting takes place mostly in their shared office. It was refreshing and fun to read something a bit different.

I have saved the best for last, Humphrey, Phillip’s precocious basset hound. I’m a dog lover, and I have two labs that are quite similar to Humphrey, so I LOVED this addition. AND….he got his own chapters!!!! It couldn’t be more perfect!!!!!

I LOVED this addition to the series, and I loved that I had a smile throughout most of the book. It was a nice distraction from the real world!!!!!

One Moment Please-front-size down

That awkward moment when an ER doctor has to inform you that you’re pregnant…with his baby.

Three things Lynsey Jones knows about the hot doctor: he’s grouchy, an arrogant jerk, and strangely obsessed with pie.

Three things Dr. Josh Richardson knows: he doesn’t talk about his past, he doesn’t do relationships, and the crazy girl in the hospital cafeteria who ate a fistful of French silk pie…is annoyingly irresistible.

After a chance meetup at a bar and a heated cab ride together, things come to a head and now instead of hating each other, they’re horizontal in a bed.

Three months later, the weird cafeteria stalker who crept out of Josh’s house like a thief in the night, winds up as his patient in the ER after her Tinder date from hell.

The doctor is prepared to keep it cool and professional. That is until her bloodwork reveals she’s pregnant.

What really throws him for a loop…is the surprise baby…is his.

What happens when the seriously hot and growly ER doctor who kicked you out of a hospital cafeteria turns into an epic one-night-stand? Well, for starters, a surprise pregnancy. Dr. Josh Richardson never wanted a family, but Lynsey’s about to give him one. And if they have any hope of co-parenting, they need to learn how to co-habituate…and try not to kill or kiss each other in the process.

All-Time Favorite Read

Top Romantic Comedy of 2020

Oh my goodness, Amy Daws does it yet again!!!! One Moment Please is my favorite romantic comedy of the year!!!! It is laugh-out-loud at times, but yet Amy Daws pulls at your heartstrings too!!!!

Lynsey Jones has just finished her thesis, in of all places a hospital cafeteria where they serve killer French Silk Pie. On this particular day, the grumpy doctor, Dr. Josh Richardson, she has noticed glaring at her every time he sees her finally comes over. Nothing good comes from it!!!! However, a completely unexpected meeting later at a bar results in an unforgettable night in more ways than one. Weeks later, she realizes how unforgettable when he informs her that she is pregnant….and it’s his baby!!!

I was literally up almost all night following Lynsey and Josh’s bumpy and oftentimes, funny, road to happiness. Never have two people been so opposite of one another. She is quirky and funny, but so loving and patient with him. He is grumpy, distant, and sometimes, cold. Yet, he is incredibly protective of her and the “Peanut.” It isn’t like he wants to be this way. He yearns to be like Lynsey and live in color and light, instead of the darkness that envelops him. She longs to see him really smile, but she isn’t sure what to do to help him let go of the past. She sees tiny glimpses of the man he once was, but they always disappear almost as soon as she sees them.

Despite the heat and steam in the bedroom, she wants all of him, but will he ever let her in? This my fellow readers is where all the emotions come roaring in. Daws had my heart in her hands…Josh broke my heart at times. She let me see his vulnerable and heart-broken side in the chapters that were told from his POV. I just fell harder for him. I mean his grumpy side could be cute, but this look into his soul, just pulled me in further!

The story was told with Daws’s trademark humor and quirkiness, but she also packed an emotional punch. It’s what makes her writing so special and keeps me coming back for more. My only regret was having to tell the characters that I have come to love good-bye. Hopefully, it won’t be too long when I can return to their world with Dean’s story….fingers crossed!!!
