Summer at the Highland Coral Beach

About the Book

Summer at the Highland Coral Beach

Escape to the Highland Coral Beach – where broken hearts can be healed

Beatrice Halliday needs a break from life. Booking a trip to the Highlands on a whim, Beatrice hopes learning Gaelic in a beautiful Scottish village might help her heal her grief after losing her baby, her husband and her much loved job in a space of months.

But Port Willow Bay isn’t exactly as the website promised. Instead of learning a new language, she’s booked in to learn the ancient skill of willow weaving, her hotel room is Princess and the Pea themed (with a stack of mattresses for her bed!) and worse still, her tutor is Atholl Fergusson, grumpy landlord of the hotel where Beatrice is staying – and she’s the only one doing the course.

But as Beatrice finds herself falling in love with Port Willow Bay and its people, and as she discovers the kind heart beneath Atholl’s stony exterior, can she really leave?

Escape to the beautiful Scottish Highlands with this utterly romantic, feelgood book; one visit to Port Willow Bay and you’ll want to come back! Fans of Sarah Morgan, Carole Matthews and Holly Martin will be captivated.

Escape to the Highland Coral Beach is a charming, and uplifting little read! It was truly a pleasurable escape!

Beatrice Halliday has had a rough, rough several months. She lost her job. Her heart is breaking since she lost her baby as well in a miscarriage. To add insult to injury, her husband took off, not able to handle the loss either. Now, she is left to mourn alone. One night after too many glasses of alcohol, trying to drown her sorrows, she gets spontaneous and books herself a trip to Port Willow Bay in Scotland to learn Gaelic.

Upon arrival, she discovers that she has been scheduled to learn willow weaving. The inn isn’t what it was supposed to be either. She does get herself a tutor who will teach her Gaelic. His name is Atholl Fergusson. However, he isn’t pleasant at all. He is quite the opposite, distant and grumpy. Nothing is going how she planned.

As she begins spending more time in this lovely setting, she discovers that she is quite coming to love this little town, and it might just be what she needs to help heal her broken heart. She begins seeing a different side to Atholl as well. They both might just heal each other.

I love books about hope and second chances. This one definitely fits those categories! I loved the story, the characters, and the setting. Looking forward to reading more from this author!

You’ve Got My Number

By Angela Barton

Synopsis

Three isn’t always a magic number …
There are three reasons Tess Fenton should be happy. One, her job at the Blue Olive deli may be dull, but at least she gets to work with her best friend. Two, she lives in a cosy cottage in the pretty village of Halston. Three, she’s in love with her boyfriend, Blake.

Isn’t she?

Because, despite their history, Blake continues to be the puzzle piece in Tess’s life that doesn’t quite fit. And when she meets intriguing local artist Daniel Cavanagh, it soon becomes apparent that, for Tess, love isn’t as easy as one, two, three …

Christie’s Review

4.5 STARS

What a charming little novel from Angela Barton! It really is an uplifting, romantic novel with two wonderful lead characters, Tess and Daniel!

I love the reference to the number three throughout the novel. Tess has three reasons to be happy. She has a good job and gets to work with her best friend. She has a great place to live, and she has a long-time boyfriend. Those are great reasons to be happy, right? However, it’s her boyfriend, Blake, who is the biggest reason for her unhappiness. They haven’t been happy for a long time. When she meets Daniel, things get even more complicated because she is developing feelings for him.

The number three has meaning for Daniel too, but for very different reasons. A decision he made many years ago continues to affect him in the present. Meeting Tess brings him a kind of hope he hasn’t felt in many years. Too bad, she has a boyfriend…

The book is told from several POVs. Sometimes when authors include too many of those, it can be confusing and become bogged down. However, that isn’t the case with this book. It works very well. Despite the different narrators, the two main characters are Tess and Daniel. What sweet characters they are. Tess is so loyal and sweet, too much for her jerk boyfriend, Blake. UGH…he is terrible!!!!! Daniel is still trying to make up for what happened in his past, and he is totally devoted to his twin sister!

For those of you who don’t like a love triangle, don’t worry there really isn’t one. The author really does take her time in developing the relationship between Tess and Daniel, giving us a sweet friendship, but there are undercurrents of their deep feelings for one another.

I love finding new authors, and Angela Barton is a new one for me. I loved her style of writing. She wrote in a way that made me feel like I was a part of the story myself. I’m looking forward to reading more from her.

About the Book:

Sometimes the best holidays are the ones you least expect…

But the sisters turn up to tatty beaches, basic wooden shacks, a compost toilet and outdoor cold water showers. It turns out that at the last minute Amy decided a conservation project would be much more fun than a luxury resort.

So now Sarah’s battling mosquitos, trying to stomach fish soup and praying for a swift escape. Life on a desert island though isn’t all doom and gloom. They’re at one with nature, learning about each other and making new friends. And Sarah is distracted by the dishy, yet incredibly moody, island leader she’s sure is hiding a secret.

New Beginnings at Wynter House (Wyntersleap series #2) by Emily Harvale Blog Tour with Review

New Beginnings at Wynter House (1)

New Beginnings at Wynter House (Wyntersleap series #2)

By Emily Harvale

About the Book:

The New Year brings unexpected revelations at Wynter House.

Neva Grey’s Christmas brought several surprises. Now a shocking secret has life-changing consequences for the Wynters, as the New Year brings revelations … and relatives to Wynter House.

It also brings Hazel Smart and Amelia Goodbody. And it’s not just Adam and Rafe Wynter who are pleased Hazel and Amelia have come to stay. Olivia Wynter will enjoy bossing nurse Hazel around and she also makes it clear Amelia – who is handling the marketing for Rafe’s new business venture – is far more suited to be her grandson’s girlfriend than Neva will ever be.

Whilst Amelia is ensconced at Wynter House, Neva is busy with her new hair and beauty salon in Merriment Bay. Perhaps she should enlist her niece, Sasha’s help because just when she thought she had found the love of her life, old secrets, ghosts from the past, and new arrivals might shatter all her dreams.

At least she has her best friend, Jo Duncan to lean on. But newly single, Jo is determined to have some fun, both at Wynter House and in Merriment Bay. And so is Adam Wynter.

This is book two in the Wyntersleap series but it can be read as a standalone. The Wyntersleap series is interlinked with the Merriment Bay series and several characters appear in both series.

Christie’s Review

5 STARS

New Beginnings at Wynter House is the second book in the Wyntersleap series, and the title couldn’t be more perfect. There are new beginnings and changes coming to Wynter House and to Adam and Rafe.

Neva has had a whirlwind of a holiday season, and it doesn’t look like things are going to get easier. A huge secret that will affect all of them is revealed, and Olivia, Adam and Rafe’s grandmother has had a mild heart attack which brings nurse Hazel onto the scene. Other guests have arrived too, Neva’s friend, Jo, and Amelia, who is in charge of Rafe’s new business as a marketing consultant. Don’t forget…Neva’s precocious niece, Sasha, is on hand. She always makes things more interesting and brings plenty of laughs. Laughter is needed at this time!

Even though the book is narrated by several voices, this is really Adam’s journey to romance. For those of us who know Adam, he doesn’t have a clue what a relationship is, but he is definitely enjoying the company of Jo, Hazel, and Amelia. I won’t be revealing the lucky lady who captures his heart. I can’t reveal that surprise. Just know that this is a charming, enjoyable read. Readers will also see some resolution to the secrets that were revealed earlier in both series.

I love how the author intertwined the Wyntersleap series and Merriment Bay series. She had begun to do this earlier in the series, but she brought it full circle in this one. I thought it was a stroke of genius on her part. As always, I can’t wait to read more in each of the series!!!

About the Book:

There’s nothing sexy about her humdrum life as a mum. But is her husband’s

crazy scheme a bit too exciting?

Sarah’s mind-numbing housewife existence is turning her brain to mush. With her

third bun in the oven, this British mum is drowning under a mountain of playdates,

bills, and head lice checks. But her man’s get-rich-quick idea of writing steamy

novels isn’t her ideal way to dial up life’s passion.

Drew desperately wants a break from Sarah’s whinging. And if that means

researching how to write racy books all by himself, then he’ll make the sacrifice. But

as he finally warms Sarah up to the sultry side hustle, their R-rated private project

gets publicly exposed…

With an office scandal brewing, it’s only a matter of time before gawking workers

and a perfectly nosy PTA president turn them into social pariahs.

Can Sarah and Drew earn some extra income from sizzling lit without falling prey to

stiff gossip?

This is a delightful, charming read with sweet characters and a great storyline!!!!

Sarah and Drew live a hectic life, just making ends meet. When Sarah discovers she is pregnant with their third child, she isn’t quite sure how they can manage. Not to mention, her plate is already full raising her two other children and looking at unattainable dream houses. She is just beginning to carve out some time for herself with her oldest son off to school.

Drew works as an analyst at an online supermarket. Like Sarah, he thought they would have time for more adventure before having children. He comes up with an idea…to make money and get Sarah’s creative juices flowing again..they could write an erotic novel together. She refuses, but that doesn’t stop him. He begins writing himself, and after some time, Sarah gets on board.  What ensues is hilarity!!!! I just LOVED it…from the Google searches to everything else they encounter!!!

I enjoyed how the characters continually developed throughout the book. They each grew so much! I enjoyed seeing their writing process!!! I also thoroughly watching these two work together. They make a great team, and they are both so FUNNY!!!!

I love the author’s sense of humor. It comes through in every single page, starting from the very first page with her note to readers. I knew I was going to love her from that moment, and I wasn’t wrong! I love discovering new authors to me, and I can’t wait to read more from her!

A New Life for Ariana Byrne

by Liz Hurley

About the Book

What happens after all your dreams come true?

Ariana Byrne knows how to survive. After becoming guardian to her four little sisters after their parents died when she was only eighteen, she had to grow up quickly. Now she’s in her twenties, stuck in a loveless marriage to Greg, trying to make ends meet for her young twins, William and Leo.

So when Ari is told that she’s actually the Right Honourable Lady de Foix, Countess of Hiverton, owner of a sprawling estate in the village of Saxburgh in Norfolk, her first instinct is laughter. Surely the girl who has to choose between food and keeping the lights on isn’t really rich beyond her wildest dreams?

She knows how to take care of her sisters and her children, but how on earth can Ari take care of an entire village? Can she fight off the circling land developers from Saxburgh, and stop her in-laws from grabbing all the money for themselves?

And while she’s struggling to settle in and settle down, she’s making new friends and new mistakes. Trusting her gorgeous neighbour, Sebastian Flint-Hyssop, may be the biggest one of all…

She’s swapped sink estate for country estate…but can a girl from inner city London learn how to become a Lady?

Take a trip to Hiverton Manor for the most uplifting novel of 2020 – guaranteed to put a smile on your face! Fans of Jenny Colgan, Trisha Ashley and Carole Matthews will love this romantic, feelgood read.

Christie’s Review

5 STARS

What a great combination of chick lit and women’s fiction! It has parts that make you laugh, parts that make you angry and sad, and parts that make your heart go pitter-patter!!!

Ariana Bryne is a strong woman, even though at first glance, she doesn’t appear to be. She allows her husband to walk all over her. However, it soon becomes apparent, she isn’t anybody’s doormat. She is quite the opposite. She has her reasons for making the decisions she does. She has no clue her entire life is about to completely change.

Ari soon learns she has come into quite a healthy inheritance. In fact, she is the Lady de Foix, Countess of Hiverton. She has inherited several properties and an entire estate in the village of Saxburgh. Ari had no idea her mother had turned her back on that life when she married her father. Years ago, her parents died, and she fought to take care of her four sisters. This won’t be an easy transition…she has to deal with taking care of the villagers, her estate, and most importantly her children. If that wasn’t enough, she has land developers salivating to get their hands parts of the village, her detestable in-laws, and maybe even a  new love interest, Sebastian. I loved watching her change from the beginning of the book until the end. She was truly a heroine, not only to herself but to the people who lived in her village.

I loved the characters, especially Ari’s sisters. They are all very different, but complete the family. Seb was a great hero and love interest. He became a huge supporter of Ari, and he showed her not all men are TERRIBLE!!!! But, Ari was my favorite. She showed so much resilience and strength in all that she had to endure, and I loved how she embraced all of the villagers. She was a phenom of a mother!!!!

The author combined a great cast of characters as well as a wonderful setting. I felt like I was a part of the story myself! Can’t wait to read more about her sisters later!!!!

About the book

As spring slips away from the hotel Penmarrow, excitement builds for an exclusive auction hosted at the hotel, featuring priceless possessions from a Hollywood actress turned lady of the manor, including her famous diamonds. Celebrities and collectors form a crowd that is keeping Maisie and the rest of staff busy, even as Maisie faces a crossroads for her manuscript.

But when the diamonds are stolen and Sidney is accused by the authorities, Maisie’s dilemma as a writer is pushed aside out of fear that his future in Port Hewer is in jeopardy. Desperation to prove that someone else is behind the theft will lead Maisie to uncover a very different secret outside of jewel thieves and village rumors … one that could change her life and her future forever.

Can Maisie deal with the latest secrets exposed — including those that paint Sidney’s past in a questionable light? And as summer’s dawn alters her idyllic life in Cornwall, will Maisie’s feelings for Sidney change as well?

4 STARS

We return to the Hotel Penmarrow, and it is buzzing with excitement. An auction is being held there with things from a Hollywood actress…many of them are valuable and priceless. The staff can barely keep up with the number of guests that are arriving.

Excitement soon turns to crime. Some valuable diamonds have been stolen, and Sidney has been accused of the crime. Maisie has her hands full trying to prove his innocence. Maisie definitely wasn’t expecting the surprise that she will discover during her quest. She will have a big decision to make by the end of the book.

I have always enjoyed this little series. The books are pretty short, but Briggs never leaves anything out. She takes her time in developing her story as well as her characters. I like that she has continued to build Maisie and Sidney’s relationship slowly. It allows her readers to see just how special it really is.

I certainly wasn’t expecting the direction the book is now taking, but it makes sense. And, I for one, am really looking forward to this next chapter in Maisie’s life.

Cat is reeling from the unexpected events of Christmas and as Merriment Bay prepares to toast in the New Year, she’s facing choices she never thought she’d have to make. Her head and her heart are pulling her in very different directions.

Bailey is sitting by Viola’s bedside, regaling everyone with tales from the past but is there any chance he’ll get to see a smile on the lips of the woman he still loves?

Having realised she has made mistakes, will Mary finally tell Cat what she really wants to know?

And what will the New Year bring for Kyra? Will she fulfil the plans she made before she came to Merriment Bay?

When distressing events end more than one person’s dream, can Cat find the strength to fight for the Love she deserves? Sometimes it takes a crisis to make someone realise what they truly want. And Cat has decided what – and who – that really is. But is she too late?

Christie’s Review

5 STARS

Well, we are finally at the end of this four-part serial that is as heartwarming as it is charming!

Life-changing events happened in part 3, and now Cat, along with some other characters have to figure out where to go from here. Cat is going to have to rely on her strength and resilience to move forward and put the past behind her if she truly wants to find happiness.

Will she find peace with her mother, and will she ever find happiness? Will it be Ben or Amias?

I have adored this series, along with the characters. Harvale brought the little village of Merriment Bay to life. I hated to tell all the characters whom I have come to love good-bye. I do hope Harvale will give us an update on her characters and let us know how Cat’s relationship with her half-siblings is going. If you love chick lit with some romance, you can’t go wrong with this writer.

Coming home to Merriment Bay Part 3

Coming Home to Merriment Bay: Part Three: Christmas

by Emily Harvale

About the Book:

Part Three of this heartwarming four-part serial about finding the strength to put the past behind you and to reach out for a future filled with happiness and love.

Cat and Kyra have finally traced the man in the photo they found in Viola’s trunk – thanks to Amias. But Bailey Mitchell lives thousands of miles away and is almost ninety-eight, so meeting him in person is never going to happen. Which is just as well. Exchanging Christmas cards and chatting on social media leads to revelations Cat had not expected.

At least Christmas is looking promising. It may be freezing outside but things have definitely thawed between Cat and her mum, Mary. They’re actually getting on, especially now that Mary is dating Jeremy Stone, the builder working on Viola’s house.

Cat’s also hopeful that Viola’s situation may improve. And when a surprise visitor brings more than just well wishes, Cat’s Christmas takes a delightful turn.

With the festivities in full swing, and snow falling on Merriment Bay, the future’s looking bright. Christmas is a time for miracles and Cat believes she may get one of her own this year if she’s prepared to put the past behind her and open her heart to Love once more.

Book three in the sweet serial by Emily Harvale is not short on surprises. Cat and Kyra now know where Bailey Mitchell lives. Cat had no way of knowing that sending a letter to him will change her life in ways she never saw coming.

Just when it looks like she and Amias may finally reveal their feelings for one another, a possible new love interest enters her life…Bailey Mitchell’s grandson, Ben. He, his sister, and Bailey make the journey to see Viola.

Secrets are revealed, and the story moves along pretty quickly. There were times I wanted to take my Kindle and throw it across the room because of Cat and Amias! I have never run across two more obstinate characters in my life. I literally wanted to lock them in a room until they put all their cards on the table. However, that is the mark of a great writer, one who elicits emotions from his or her readers.

As with each book, it does end with some answers but it leaves some questions too. Don’t stress out too much…book 4 is out, and I have also read that one. All of your questions will be answered. Emily Harvale never disappoints!!!

Lucy Mathers Goes Back To Work

By Julie Butterfield

About the Book:

Lucy Mathers was once the golden girl of Simcock & Bright. Four years later, she’s a stay at home mum with two adorable children, has swapped her Louboutins for rabbit slippers and spends her day making crustless sandwiches and colour co-ordinated lunches instead of signing up high profile clients.

When her husband is suddenly made redundant, there is panic in the Mathers’ household. With a mortgage the size of the national debt and a credit card balance that’s in danger of toppling, Lucy reluctantly decides she must return to work. So she digs out her old power suits from the back of the wardrobe and leaves Will to become a house husband. But sitting in Lucy’s old office is Grant Cassidy, suave, handsome and ruthless and with no intention of letting Lucy walk back into the number one job.

At home, despite his breezy declaration that swapping boardroom battles for toddler groups would be a doddle, Will’s belief that parental issues could be solved with forward planning and a spread sheet soon falls by the wayside.

With both Will and Lucy struggling to adapt, could their previously happy marriage be developing some cracks?

What a clever, humorous, and realistic look at balancing parenthood and career.

Lucy had quite the successful career at Simcock & Bright. She was on the rise, but then she decided to stay home with her children…that was 4 years ago. Now, she is returning to work after her husband, Will, is out of work. The roles have now switched as he has decided to stay home with the children until he finds a job. Then, Lucy will quit and return to being a stay-at-home mother. As we all know, some of our best laid plans don’t always work out like we think they will. Lucy and Will are about to find that out.

While this is Lucy’s journey, it is Will’s as well. Lucy has to adapt to being back at work, especially with her nemesis, Grant Cassidy. He is going to put up every obstacle he can to make work as difficult as possible.

Will is also learning that you don’t rule a household and handle toddlers they way you do people in a boardroom.

Each one of them will soon learn important lessons about their marriage, their family, and their careers. I really enjoyed Julie Butterfield’s style of writing. It’s clever and filled with a lot of wit and humor. She really captures the dilemma of balancing parenthood and having a career. I loved it. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.

Meet the Author

Julie Butterfield belongs to the rather large group of ‘always wanted to write’ authors who finally found the time to sit down and put pen to paper – or rather fingers to keyboard.
She wrote her first book purely for pleasure and was very surprised to discover that so many people enjoyed the story and wanted more, so she decided to carry on writing!
