I was so excited when I discovered that these two talented ladies were going to parlay their talents into writing a book together! They certainly DID NOT disappoint!!!!
I know writers need a hook to pull their readers into the story very early in the beginning. The one in this book was one of the best I have come across in a while. They had my attention from the first few paragraphs. I was riveted until the last word, and I’m still hooked, waiting on the next installment in the series.
Everyone who knows me knows that I have to be invested in the characters as well. Ezra and Lily were extremely complicated and complex. In fact, many parts of the book were character-driven…yet somehow perfectly balanced with the suspense. Who could make a hitman endearing and easy to fall in love with except Kate and Kathy! Ezra was the perfect hero even though he was perfectly flawed. He wasn’t born a hitman, he was made into one because of the ghosts of his past. Thankfully, Lily was somehow able to break through the walls he erected.

I couldn’t help but love Lily as well. She, like Ezra, endured circumstances that made her into the person she was. She was nurturing to Ezra despite the fact that her husband was murdered and she is now a captive of sorts of Ezra. She was intelligent, resourceful, observant, and spunky. Many people completely underestimated her.

Not only did the main characters add another layer to the book but so did the other characters, such as Raven and Kaci. There was just enough mystery about these two to perk my interest and whet my appetite to learn more about them. I am certainly hoping these two have stories to tell me as well.
Many times in a romantic suspense, writers sometimes overplay either the romance or the suspense. Not with this book…both were perfectly balanced! Great job, ladies! I’m looking forward to the next book in the series!
