ENGAGED TO THE EMT (Blue Collar Brothers Book 3) by Piper Rayne Review Tour with Excerpt

7 Dec

A Sexy FAKE RELATIONSHIP rom com standalone written by a duo of two USA Bestselling Authors

Luca Bianco is a jerk. There I said it.

He thinks he’s so suave and sexy, walking around in his paramedic uniform stretched out by all his hard muscles and saving lives every day. I swear he thinks every woman in the world would kill for a chance to be with him.

Men like Luca are good for one thing only—a one-night stand—not commitment. I don’t care if my friend did pay good money at a charity bachelor auction for me to go on a date with him, I refuse to do it.

That is until Luca offers me a deal I can’t refuse, and I agree to be his pretend fiancé.

The heat that’s simmered between us for a decade ignites and I’m not sure even Luca will be able to kickstart my heart after I call code blue.

What’s that saying? Love is blind?

Not true. I can see this head-on collision coming a mile away.

All-Time Favorite Read/Series

Top Read in Romantic Comedy/Enemies to Lovers of 2018

“We met at the corner of love and hate. Luckily our paths crossed there again, but the second time we took the right path…love.”

Engaged to the EMT is probably one of the best enemies to lovers romance I have ever read, so needless to say, it’s a top pick for romantic comedy for 2018! In fact, the entire series is a top favorite of the year as well.

We have gotten the other Bianco brothers’ stories, so now we finally get Luca’s. I knew it would be special, and it far exceeded my expectations. Luca and Lauren don’t like each other, that isn’t a secret. When Luca asks Lauren to be his fake fiancee, no one is more surprised that she is when she actually agrees to do it.  She admits he is a jerk, but it’s an offer she really can’t refuse. All of us who have gotten to know these two in the earlier books knows this is the worst thing that could happen or it could turn out to be the thing that forces them to really take a good hard look at why they feel the way they do about one another. They might just be surprised at what they discover.

As with the earlier books, I fell hook, line, and sinker for this couple. It’s all in the way Piper Rayne wrote the book. It’s from each one of their POV’s, and it’s written as if they are talking to the readers as if we are their confidantes.

As I have written earlier, it’s no secret these two barely tolerate each other. It’s been that way since high school. As they are thrown together in this charade, they actually get to know one another as adults, and they are surprised by what they discover about one another. Luca is definitely good-looking; Lauren can admit that. She begins seeing how big his heart is underneath that sexy, arrogant facade he shows the world. He is learning to respect Lauren for her strength and independence. They also admire that competitive spirit each of them has. Boy, are they competitive! It’s Lauren’s competitive spirit that makes Lauren a female lead who really stands out!

I have read each book in the series, and I have loved each one. Piper Rayne does a phenomenal job of making each story different. They do the same with each character. I have loved each one for very different reasons. Even if they are brothers, each one is very different and their own man. The same goes for the women who fall in love with them. What is the same is the humor, sexual chemistry, and romance that will melt your heart! It’s those very things that bring me back to this dynamic duo again and again!

I was very sorry to say goodbye to the Bianco clan. I loved catching up with them in each and every book. The writers do such a great job of including earlier characters in the later books. For me, that builds my bond with the story and characters. I’m so glad we will get to see more of them when we get a series about the Bianco’s cousins, The Mancini’s. I will definitely be looking forward to that one!!!!

EXCERPT

The light from the street reflects the humor shining in his eyes. “I’m just sick of the fighting.”

“Fighting is what we do best. It’s basically how we communicate.” Then all the puzzle pieces join together in my head. I’m so stupid. “You want something.”

We pull up in front of my house just as I realize what a fucking moron I am.

“Nope.” He takes the keys, grabs the bag of food and gets out of the car.

He’s totally playing me. I might not be a psychologist who can quickly spot a liar, but Luca, I know too well. Not well, but when it comes to our interactions—I know him. And this nice Luca, taking me to a Hawks game, buying me dinner, wanting to eat with me…this isn’t the Luca Bianco I know.

I climb out of his car, the slam of the door echoing down the dark residential street. “Tell me what it is you want.”

His lips remain straight, not even a hint of a smile or smirk.

Another clear sign that this isn’t the Luca I know.

“Come on. Let’s eat.” He nods in the direction of my house.

“By prolonging whatever it is, you’re just pissing me off, which means if you need something, I’m more than likely going to say no. Or we could play a little game…”

“How about we eat?” He waits patiently as I insert the key into my door, disengage the alarm that Cristian, Luca’s brother insisted we get installed.

Police officers. Jeez.

We step inside and he’s the one to shut the door and flick the lock.

“Planning to have your way with me?” I’m not serious as I walk into the kitchen to grab us some drinks, utensils, and napkins.

The sound of the television blaring drifts into the kitchen seconds later.

With my hands full, I head back into the living room. “Feel free to make yourself at home,” I deadpan, handing Luca a Vitamin Water and a napkin.

“Thanks.” He lifts the napkin and drink. “And thanks.”

We sit on the couch because although our house is nice and newly redecorated thanks to Maddie’s mad skills, the family room area is small and the best place to see the television is the couch. No worries though, there’s still a cushion between us.

I open up my box of food, a little bit of steam hitting my face. “I can’t just sit here and watch soccer with you and not know what you want.”

I hate that I’ve had to resort to being sincere in my request.

He opens up his own box and I’m a tad jealous I didn’t get the burger. It smells and looks delicious.

Luca doesn’t respond, just stands and heads into the kitchen.

He knows our house way too well thanks to his brothers always suggesting we meet here when we go out.

I pop a cauliflower floret into my mouth, tasting the Korean flavor makes my mouth water. Opening up my Vitamin Water to cool my tongue, I ignore Luca’s return, instead, fixating on the television as he rounds the coffee table in front of me. The couch dips with the weight of his body which is now closer than before.

I’ve never been alone with Luca, much less this close. I feel a shift in our volatile relationship like the stillness before a storm. It’s too quiet. It’s too calm. Too…enjoyable.

“Here.” My gaze shifts from the television, although I couldn’t tell you the score of the game and I see he’s holding half his burger out to me.

“What’s this?” I ask, loading my mouth with another califloret.

Man, it’s hot.

“I think you had a little bit of drool dripping from your mouth when I opened the container. How about we share?”

He smiles. A smile I’ve only ever seen on his face with his friends, or his brothers, and especially his mom. He doesn’t even wear this smile when he’s with girls. At least not that I’ve ever seen. That fact runs around my stomach stirring up the butterflies to max flight.

I don’t like this.

It’s too damn calm.

Where are the eighty mile per hour winds?

“Luca, if you don’t tell me what you want, I’m going to kick you out of my house.” I take half the burger and slide my cauliflower and fries closer to him as an offering.

“You can’t just wait?” he asks, seeming disappointed.

“HA!” I point to him with a greasy finger. “You do want something from me. Tell me what it is.”

“You’re ridiculous you know that, right? A normal person would wait.”

I shake my head. “No, they wouldn’t.”

See, this feels good. This feels right.

“LUCA!” I scream.

He blows out a breath. “Fine. I need a favor from you.”

Crushing on the Cop by Piper Rayne Review & Excerpt Blitz

28 Oct

Cristian Bianco has two things against him—he’s a police officer and he’s a police officer in the 18th District…meaning my dad is his boss.

Growing up as the Commander’s daughter and having his magnifying glass focused on everything I did was more than I could handle.

Now, I’m out on my own, living by my own rules. Well, mostly. The ‘job’ I created for myself has me in some hot water and my exit strategy isn’t exactly working out how I’d hoped.

Which is why when my best friend bids on Cristian for me at a charity bachelor auction, I’m not having it. A man in blue is only going to be one thing for me—a problem.

Except after his brother starts dating my best friend he becomes harder to ignore. The eight-pack abs. The sense of style only a girl like me can appreciate. The way he puts his family first. It all adds up to make him one irresistible prospect and has me wondering if he knows how to use those handcuffs the right way—by locking my wrists to his headboard.

Piper Rayne has done it yet again…she has made me fall in love with yet another Bianco brother, this time it’s Cristian, the police officer. I couldn’t help but fall for him and the story he and Vanessa have to tell. Boy, is it a good one!!!!

I knew from the first book that there was some mystery surrounding Vanessa, and I finally got to know what it was. Cristian is the date Vanessa is supposed to go on, bought and paid for by her friend. Every time Cristian asks her, she refuses. Her father is the Commander and is Cristian’s boss. She isn’t interested in dating a cop, and she certainly doesn’t want her father putting his nose in her business. She is used to him knowing everything about her, and she has worked hard to change that, and Cristian certainly doesn’t fit it with that plan. However, he continues to work his way into her heart, making her into a completely different woman than she was at the beginning of the book…becoming the woman she was always meant to be.

What woman wouldn’t love Cristian? He’s incredibly sexy…the man makes compression pants sexy and manly. His most endearing and attractive quality is his heart. He loves his family and makes sure they all know it…even his brothers, who aggravate him to no end. He always checks on his parents and always make sure his brothers remember important dates. He wants to be with Vanessa in all the right ways, but she can take his caring for her as trying to control her. He has his work cut out for him, but if a man can make Vanessa fall for him, it’s Cristian.

I loved the way this book was written from the beginning until the end. Just as with the first book, our Bianco boy begins with a personal note to us. That right there is what makes me feel like I’m a part of the story itself…he’s talking personally to the readers. What a genius way to engage readers!!!! When you add in the humor and laughs, it’s just about a perfect read!!!!

I just love the whole Bianco family. I kind of feel like they are my own, and I love the scenes where all of them are together. Cristian’s mother is a saint…I just loved her. She has a heart of gold, and she doesn’t mind giving it to anyone. It’s because of her love for others that her boys are so special too. I can’t wait to see them again…very soon…it will be Luca’s turn. I’m sure I’ll fall for him too despite his reputation!!!!

EXCERPT

“Not on duty tonight, officer?” I insert sarcasm into my tone because being a bitch will make it easier for him to keep his distance.

“Well, Miss Flanagan, I’m off for two days if you’re wondering.”

I step away from the keg allowing the lingering guys who are talking about hockey a chance to fill their cups.

“That leaves me open for that date.” He cocks an eyebrow.

My head falls back in defeat. “There is no date. You have a pass. Most guys would love the chance to get out of a date with the person who wins them at an auction.”

He sips his beer. “I’m not most guys.”

I sip my beer and don’t respond. He’s right. He’s not most guys. Most guys don’t look like he does. That or I’ve been hanging around the wrong places.

“Some might say that most women would love to go on a date with a police officer.”

“I’m not most women.”

He laughs. One that heats my insides and makes him even more attractive. I know I’m going to be visualizing him the next time I pull out my Unicorn Cock vibrator, but I’ll deal like I always do.

“I agree,” he says when he finishes laughing.

“Perfect. Then it’s a deal. No date.” I smile and turn on my heel heading toward the bonfire.

“Whoa.” His hand gently grabs my arm.

I spin back around.

“You know that’s not what I was saying. Come on, Vanessa. I need your dad off my back. One date. It’s not going to kill anyone.”

I purse my lips, trying to figure out how I’m going to get him to let this topic go. I’ve had one police officer dictating my entire life already, I don’t need another.

“Just lie,” I say with a shrug.

His strong shoulders sag a bit and he shoots me a look like ‘give me a break.’ His eyes are those of an innocent man who probably always does the right thing. I’m doing him a favor keeping him at arm’s length.

“Fine,” I say when the silence stretches out.

He smiles.

I hold a finger up into the air. “You do one thing tonight that you’d never normally do and I’ll go out with you.” I smirk. Let’s see Mr. Squeaky Clean take me up on that offer. I’m picturing my victory already.

“What?” He screws his face up then sips his beer.

I cross my arms around my middle, waiting for him to say no way so that I can move on. “You heard me. One spontaneous thing. Here. Tonight.”

“Like what?” he asks, his eyes scanning the area around us that I now realize is quickly emptying out. Half these people probably have babysitters to get home to.

I shrug. “That’s for you to decide.”

His forehead bunches. “What do you want me to do? Jump over the fire or some shit like that?”

“I’d prefer if you didn’t end up in the emergency room, so no, I don’t expect you to jump over a roaring fire. That would ruin Maddie and Mauro’s night.”

A pissed off look crosses his face and he downs most of his beer.

“That’s it, let’s go, Cris. It’s two against two and I need a guy.” Luca, Cristian’s little brother, twirls a soccer ball on his finger as he steps up to us. Lauren follows behind with a girl I don’t recognize.

“What?” Cristian glares over at his brother. “I’m not playing soccer tonight in the pitch dark.”

He has a point.

“Come on Cris. Lauren says she can score five goals on me.” Luca glances over to Lauren who has a shit-eating grin on her face, and he rolls his eyes.

Cristian blows out a breath. Lauren saddles up to my side, kicking the soccer ball from Luca’s hands. She does some fancy footwork then kicks the ball in the air before catching it. That girl has coordination I do not.

“The answer is no. Find Bentley, he’s over there.” He points toward the bonfire.

Luca must know his brother never does something he doesn’t want to do because he barrels away from us without a word.

“What’s going on over here?” Lauren asks, walking backward, twirling the soccer ball on one finger like Luca was moments ago.

“Nothing,” I say.

“Lauren, what’s the craziest thing I can do tonight?” Cristian hollers out and Lauren’s feet stop, staring at me over his shoulder.

She knows this game. We play it often. Well, not since college when guys tend to think they can say hello and you’ll be falling all over them. There’s nothing wrong with making them work to impress you a little. It builds character. LOL.

Lauren being Lauren pretends to think about it. In the past, we’ve had guys shave their heads or their eyebrows, dress in girl’s clothing, striptease with a pair of girl’s panties on. God knows what Lauren’s going to recommend.

“You’re a smart boy, Bianco. Turn the tables,” she says. “What’s the worst thing you could do to Vanessa tonight?”

I flip her off. Nice friend I got there. Who wants her?

A devilish smile creeps onto Cristian’s lips. “Anyone tell you, you’re a fucking genius, Lauren?”

She laughs. “All the time. Tell your brother for me though.”

Luca comes over, stealing the soccer ball from her hands, while a guy tripping over his own feet follows behind. The girl and guy standing on the sidelines watching Lauren and Luca argue about who goes first.

“So, Officer Bianco, what will it be?” I cock a hip and a brow.

“Maybe a date with you isn’t worth the embarrassment?” He steps closer and I back up an inch, unease setting in as his demeanor grows more confident and sure.

I shrug. “That’s fine. I’m happy to split ways now.”

He takes another giant step forward and sips the remaining beer from his cup, tossing it down to the grass, his gaze intense and set on whatever he’s about to do.

“What are you doing?” I ask, my voice weaker than I’d prefer.

We’re chest to chest now because he’s taken me by surprise and I forgot to flee with his approach. Okay and maybe his eyes mesmerized me. A little. Not much.

“I’m going to do the one thing I didn’t think I’d do tonight.” His voice has dropped an octave and we’re alone in the darkness of the forest now where the warmth of the bonfire has disappeared. A cold chill runs across my cheeks until Cristian’s hands land on either side of my face. “I’m going to kiss you.”

His lips fall to mine. Did I say it was cold? It’s not. It’s warm. Cristian’s mouth on mine steals the chill from my body. I should knee him in the balls or at least push him away, but I don’t. Instead, my lips betray me and move in time with his. I wrap my arms around his neck and I rise to my tiptoes, kissing him back.

His arms cradle me flush against his body, his tongue exploring mine and under the canopy of the forest, away from any prying eyes, Cristian Bianco sets my body on fire.

I love breaking other people’s rules, but I’m not sure about breaking my own.

Fall by Kristen Callihan Review & Excerpt Blitz

25 Oct

The first time I met Jax Blackwood things went a little sideways.

In my defense, I didn’t know he was Jax Blackwood—who expects a legendary rock star to be shopping for groceries? More importantly, a blizzard was coming and he was about to grab the last carton of mint-chocolate chip.

Still, I might have walked away, but then he smugly dared me to try and take the coveted ice cream. So I kissed him. And distracted that mint-chip right out of his hands.

Okay, it was a dirty move, but desperate times and all that. Besides, I never expected he’d be my new neighbor.

An annoying neighbor who takes great pleasure in reminding me that I owe him ice cream but would happily accept more kisses as payment. An irresistible neighbor who keeps me up while playing guitar naked–spectacularly naked–in his living room.

Clearly, avoidance is key. Except nothing about Jax is easy to ignore—not the way he makes me laugh, or that his particular brand of darkness matches mine, or how one look from him melts me faster than butter under a hot sun.

Neither of us believes in love or forever. Yet we’re quickly becoming each other’s addiction. But we could be more. We could be everything.

All we have to do is trust enough to fall.

A Top Read of 2018

An All-Time Favorite Read

Fall was one of those book I fell for, sorry for the pun, but I did. I fell deep and hard for everything in this book, the characters, the storyline, and Callihan’s writing itself.

Let me begin with the characters. They were very well fleshed out and had many different levels. Each chapter would reveal another part of who they were. Who wouldn’t fall for John? I would have fallen with just hearing his voice, especially in the way Stella described it.

“And his voice? Gah. It is sex and sweaty sheets, hot fudge over crushed cookies.”

As I said, he had many levels. At first glance, yes you would be drawn to his looks, but as I got to know him better, it was his heart that was truly beautiful. My heart melted throughout the book, but it was the very last chapter when it melted completely. Other readers will know exactly what I mean when you read it.

And, Stella…I loved her from the very beginning. She is quirky, even her appearance is not what society would deem as beautiful, but I thought she was. Her courage, I can’t say enough about that. Granted, she didn’t know who John really was, but seriously, she was willing to “fight” him for her mint chocolate ice cream. That’s my kind of woman!!! It’s that quality that initially drew John to Stella. As with John, it’s Stella’s heart that is the most beautiful thing about her. She has no need for his money or fame; she loves the man. Jax has never had someone but his closest friends and family love him that way!

The storyline was fantastic. Callihan took her time in writing their love story. The pacing was perfect, and I think that is what made her writing so phenomenal. This was a romance, but it was packed with emotions. For me, it was the way she writes that was the crux of the story. It is very rare for a writer to do that…just by her words, and Kristen Callihan did that, and she did it exceptionally well. I had so many passages highlighted, but I couldn’t fit them all in this review. One of my favorite passages was this one:

“I was standing there, looking at her, and she became more! I couldn’t…I couldn’t think. Everything simply…tilted. The world tilted, and there she was.”

That passage right there said everything I needed to know about how John felt. I am new to Kristen Callihan, and she has a new admirer in me. This woman knows how to write a darn good book! She blew my socks off!!!!

Excerpt

The air between us shifts. I’m filled with a strange giddiness, wanting to laugh for the fun of it, but I’m also too warm, my limbs oddly heavy as if simple movements might be too much for me.

His tone turns soft and cajoling, teasing the truth out of me. “Are you going to tell me what you do?” When I say nothing, the corners of his eyes crinkle. “I see. You’re going to torture me a bit.”

The warm, fuzzy feeling grows as I shrug. “Torture feels apropos in this scenario.”

He hums again, taking another step toward me. “What makes you think I won’t like being tortured by you?”

The heat of his body and the scent of his skin makes my head light and my pulse pound. How did it get to this point where the highlight of my day is flirting with Jax Blackwood? Despite the thrill, I know I’m in over my head. I haven’t gone out on a date in months because I form attachments, I get emotional, and then I hurt when they inevitably leave. And this man will leave. He is as bright and fleeting as a camera flash. I’ll be left with the image of him seared into my memory and nothing more.

I tell myself all of this, the voice in my head as stern as possible. But it doesn’t make me back away. It doesn’t stop my body from somehow straining toward his without even moving. Because it might be stupid of me, but I want to feel something that isn’t planned. Something, for however briefly, that’s real.

He’s too attuned to me not to notice. John’s lids lower as his attention slides down my body before easing back up to my face. Slowly, he rests his forearm on the wall beside my head. “Tell me, Stella,” he murmurs.

“No,” I whisper back, flirting, even though I shouldn’t.

His biceps bunch as he leans in, a smile dancing on his lips. “Tell.”

My breasts graze his chest, and I feel it in my toes.

“You’re crowding me.” I hate how breathy I sound.

“Can’t help it.” His voice is a rumble, the heat of his breath playing over my skin. He ducks his head, drawing close until our lips nearly brush, and when he speaks again, his tone is almost conversational, except for the husky quality that touches deep within my core. “You smell like strawberries. Fucking delicious.”

My lids flutter, and I swallow hard. “Ordinarily, I’d call you out on that cliché but since I’ve been eating strawberries, you aren’t exactly wrong.”

His chuckle is slow and easy, as he eases back and his gaze slowly travels over my face. “Were they sweet, Stella Button?”

He’s looking at my mouth like he might try to find out. My lips tremble in response, and John tracks the movement, his breathing getting deeper, faster. “You have two freckles on your lips. One on the top lip and one on the bottom corner.”

Those damn freckles. They were the bane of my adolescence. I hid them with lipstick and silently cursed whenever someone mentioned them.

Freckles don’t have any feelings, but I swear it’s as if he’s touching them.

“You’re just noticing this?” I try to make it sound like a joke, but it comes out weak and thready.

His own lips quirk. “Oh, I noticed. It’s distracting as hell. They’re like two little dots of butter toffee. Makes me want to lick them, get a taste.”

Oh, God. Lick them, please. I can almost feel it. I want to feel it.

No. Bad Stella. Behave.

John’s lips part a fraction like he just might take that taste.

“Back off,” I whisper. And yet somehow my traitorous hands find their way to his sides, running over the waistband of his jeans, holding him there.

John makes a sound deep in his throat and tilts his hips, pressing them against mine. A distinctly thick bulge nudges my belly. Both of us lose a breath, and then he’s closer, his cheek touching my temple. “You’ll have to let me go first.”

My thumbs slide under the edge of his shirt and find smooth, taut skin. A tremor goes through his body. I try to think, search for what the hell we’ve been talking about.

His lips brush the crest of my cheek as he murmurs against my skin. “Tell me what you do, Stella. You know you want to.”

My smile feels illicit. Somehow the action is directly tied to all my happy parts, making them draw hot and tight. “I don’t think I do.”

Another hum. “Liar. You’re dying to.”

Excerpt

It was my turn to stare at him quizzically, but he didn’t acknowledge the look. He sipped his water and stared around the restaurant as if this weren’t awkward and weird. His nose had a slight bump in it, his cheekbones high, and his jaw chiseled and angular. Overall, he had a very hawklike profile, masculine, rugged, and intimidating. And at that moment I felt like prey, stupidly allowing myself to be caught.

Still, I couldn’t shake the feeling that he genuinely didn’t want anything sexual from me.

I stared at him unabashedly, wanting answers.

He remained steadfast, ignoring me, until the waitress he’d called out to returned with a plastic carrier bag. “Will this do?”

“Aye.” He took it from her. “Thanks.” When I returned to the main restaurant, I put the folded-up wet clothes beside me on the bench, my underwear tucked out of sight.

I couldn’t meet the stranger’s eyes as I reached for the Diet Coke I’d asked for, savoring the taste. On tour, I’d needed lots of energy so I’d eaten well and drank plenty of water. Soda was a treat at the best of times. But I hadn’t had a Diet Coke in months, and it tasted great.

“Excuse me,” my companion’s voice jolted my gaze upward and I saw him wave down a passing waitress. “Do you have a bag?”

“A bag?”

“Carrier bag, paper bag. A bag.”

“Um … let me check.”

He held it out, staring at me with those eyes that would’ve been much more suited to a Lothario, to someone who knew how to be charming. “For your clothes.”

Oh.

It was a kind gesture, also at odds with his demeanor, and my suspicion increased. I took the bag, however, sliding my wet clothes into it and out of sight. Exasperated, I said, “What the hell do you want?”

“Food first.”

“So I’ll be well fed, satisfied, and more amenable to whatever the hell it is you want from me?”

He looked at me now, really looked at me, and the corner of his mouth curled up ever so slightly. “Exactly.”

“A good villain doesn’t admit to his plan, you know.”

“I’m not a villain.”

“What are you?”

“Fo—”

“Food first. Yeah, yeah.”

And so we sat in silence until the food arrived, and the smell of my sea bass made my stomach grumble loudly. Years ago, it would’ve embarrassed me. Now I couldn’t give a shit. All I cared about was that fish.

I dug in, closing my eyes in joy as I ate.

When I opened them to scoop up buttery mashed potatoes, I felt his gaze on me.

The furrowed brow, the glimmer of concern in his eyes, made me stiffen. But just like that, his expression cleared, blank, and he went back to eating his burger as if I didn’t exist.

I savored every morsel of that meal, including the Chocolate Fudge Fixation I ordered for dessert.

My belly felt full and satisfied, and exhaustion began to force my eyelids to droop.

And I knew it was time to pay the piper. “So …” I pushed away my empty dessert plate and slumped back against the booth, my expression baleful. “What the hell do you want from me?”

His answer was to reach into his wallet, pull out a business card, and hand it over.

I stared down at it, disbelief flooding me.

Ahhh…this is one of those romances that makes my toes tingle and leaves my heart warm. It is full of romance with a bit mystery…I wondered why Skylar was now in the position she was in. I asked myself if Killian really knew who she was or what his real motivations were. Those questions and the romance is what kept this book interesting to me. It was the perfect balance.

Skylar was quite the character. She was living a life most of us would dream of and now she was homeless, facing danger as a single woman on the streets. As I read in the synopsis, I knew something drastic happened to Skylar for her to now be homeless and sleeping in a cemetery halfway across the world. This girl had guts!!!! She left everything familiar to her and went on a journey to figure out who she was and what direction she needed to take. I really admired that kind of strength.

Killian was a complex character himself. I wasn’t always sure what he was wanting from Skylar. However, Young does a great job of revealing to us who he really is. Oh man, could he make me swoon, especially towards the end when he tells Skylar how deeply he loves her. WOW!

As good as the romance was, the storyline itself was just as good. Even though this was Skylar’s story to tell, Young told us Killian’s too. The pacing was perfection, especially in the way she revealed more of her story in the States!

As usual, Young does such a fabulous job of describing her setting wherever it is. I saw that clearly  in her YA novel, The Fragile Ordinary. She did it again here in Glasgow. I have now added another place on my bucket list to visit.

I love when a romance has a deeper meaning for me. This one definitely did. Oftentimes, life is unpredictable and throws some major curveballs. It’s not necessarily those curveballs that determine our fate and happiness, but it’s how we deal with those. Skylar and Killian both proved that. Another excellent read from Samantha Young!

One Baby Daddy (Dating By Numbers #3) Review Tour with Excerpt! 5 ++ Stars!!! This is a MUST READ!!!!

“What are you doing now that your team is out of the running for the Stanley Cup?”

Forget.

I need to forget. I need an escape.

Only one person isn’t falling for my reputation as the NHL’s Golden Boy; she captured my attention the minute she called me out for snooping through my best friend’s house. She didn’t want to hear my reason–she only wanted to playfully give me a hard time.

Adalyn is bold, sassy–and the perfect escape.

She’s everywhere. In town and in my dreams, and suddenly I need to spend every waking moment with her.

And I do, making this summer the best off-season I’ve ever had.

But in the midst of getting lost in Adalyn, what I don’t expect is to get her pregnant.

And what I definitely don’t expect is having to fight for her affection.

EXCERPT

“Would you mind zipping up the back of my dress?” She walks toward me, her flowery scent floating in my direction, spiking my yearning into overdrive.

“Uh, yeah . . . sure.”

She turns around, and looks over her shoulder. The back of her dress is completely open, the zipper undone to just above the curve of her beautifully round ass.

Shit, all that smooth, tan skin, covered by nothing but the velvety fabric of the dress. Is she wearing underwear? She’s not wearing a bra and I see no panty line.

Clearing my throat, I ask, “Are you wearing underwear, Adalyn?”

From over her shoulder, she smiles shyly. “Yes, it’s small though.”

Of course it is. Why wouldn’t it be?

Not being able to stop myself, I take a second to float my fingertips up her spine. From the initial touch, her back arches and a small gasp releases from her lips, but before I can think about stopping, she melts into my touch. Stepping closer, I place my hand on the back of her hip, my thumb pressing into her ass while the other hand explores the bare expanse of her back. Her head falls to my shoulder. Her lips part, and when I snake to the front of her dress, her breath hitches.

Eyes closed, I take in ragged breaths, my fingers inching closer and closer to her front, my cock painfully hard.

It’s been so goddamn long—and being with Adalyn has only spurred on my need—but I want to make sure we’re in a good place before we commit to anything. I want to make sure she’s ready emotionally because the minute I bury myself deep inside her, I know there will be no turning back. She will be mine forever.

But maybe for now, I can just have a little touch . . .

My cock pressed against her butt, she expertly grinds her backside into me, her hands moving to my neck, pulling my head down to hers. I kiss the side of her neck, using the hand that’s gripping her hips to guide her with her grinding in just the right place.

Fuck, that feels good.

I grunt, the sound vibrating over her sleek neck. My hand on her stomach, she arches wanting more of my touch, silently asking me to move north.

And I fucking comply. Inch by slow inch, I guide my hand to just below her breasts. When I halt my pursuit, a displeased groan escapes her.

“Hayden, please.”

I squeeze my eyes shut, trying to find the willpower. Her fingernails dig into my scalp, spurring me on as she turns her head and finds my lips.

She kisses me.

Hot.

Wet.

Needy.

Her lips gliding across mine, her tongue diving into my mouth, her moans are vocal and sexy. Her delicious ass, pressing, grinding, undulating against my rock-hard cock makes me want to do so much more, makes me want to taste so much more.

Moving my hand higher, my fingertips graze the bottom of her breast. Soft. Round. Smooth. I caress her right below her nipple, never touching, just teasing . . . tempting.

One Baby Daddy is exactly why I LOVE MEGHAN QUINN. It’s packed full of romance, steam, emotion, and laughter!!!!

When I read the synopsis, I knew I had to read this book!!!!! Hayden Holmes made me swoon and fall in love with him. Hayden needs to escape. His team is out of the running for the Stanley cup, and he needs to relax and recharge. Instead of going home, he decides to go stay near his childhood friend, Racer. He is looking forward to seeing his friend and maybe even escaping reality for a bit. What he isn’t counting on is Adalyn. He meets her at Racer’s house, and he knows immediately his life will never be the same. Adalyn was unprepared for Hayden either, and he will challenge her every belief about love!

So, I pretty much fell in love with Hayden from the beginning. Who wouldn’t? He is a sexy, good looking hockey player, but it’s his heart that really did it for me. He is sweet, and he is interested in more than a fling with Adalyn. He is also loyal, and once he is your friend, he is a friend for life. When he discovers he is going to be a father, I was even in more awe of him. Some of the most tender moments of the book is his wonderment in becoming a father. Adalyn would be so lucky to have him in her corner, if she will let him!!!!

In the beginning, I kind of liked Adalyn. But, by the end, I absolutely LOVED her. I initially didn’t understand why she didn’t let Hayden past all of her walls, but I did come to understand. She was hurt, and she readily admitted he could be dangerous to her heart. My heart really broke for her when all she wanted to do was love him and stay with him, but yet she pushed him away. As I came to know her more, I could understand why she felt the way that she did. Thank goodness, Hayden makes up his mind to make her his, and he doesn’t give up!!!!!

Meghan Quinn just takes my breath away. She gives me such butterflies. She makes me laugh until my sides hurt. She makes my heart melt. She makes me shed tears…both sad and happy in this one! Most importantly she ALWAYS leaves me with a smile on my face when I finish reading her last word. So, as always, I will be anxiously awaiting her next book!!!

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if “It’s Raining Men” starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.

Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing… enter her first novel, Caught Looking.

Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!

Turning to the door, I smiled, ready to greet my late-evening customer, but faltered as the door closed behind him.

Cole Goodman was walking my way.

My belly dipped as I took him in. His aviator sunglasses were perched on top of his chocolate-brown hair. A black polo stretched across his broad shoulders and pulled tight across his muscled arms. His pale-blue jeans molded to his Herculean thighs before draping down to his black, square-toed boots. The leather belt on Cole’s trim waist held both a shining badge and a holstered gun.

Cole smiled and locked his light-green eyes on mine as he crossed the room.

His straight, white teeth made my breath hitch—something that had happened last night more times than I wanted to admit.

Molly, who had turned around from her seat to greet our customer, spun around so her back was to Cole. Her cheeks flushed as she whispered, “Wow.”

Wow was right.

Cole Goodman was—simply put—gorgeous.

He could give a woman a speeding ticket and get a thank-you in return. He inspired women to attempt push-ups in a karate class just for the chance to watch him sweat through his gi. Cole made grown women blush like teenagers and giggle in corners, like those girls at the dojo last night.

Well, Devney Perry has completely stunned me yet again. She completely broke my heart, and then delicately and beautifully put it back together again!!! The Birthday List is on my top 10 list of 2018!

Poppy is living a wonderful life, completely in love with her husband, Jamie. They live a blissfully happy life until everything is plunged into darkness with Jamie’s tragic death. Jamie had a birthday list that he kept of things he wished to accomplish. Years later, Poppy decides to complete it…it may help her to learn to live again.

Cole was the person who delivered the devastating news to Poppy. He hasn’t seen her in years until she shows up at a karate class, which was something on Jamie’s list. When Cole is the one who is her instructor for the night, it seems as if it is fate. Neither will guess how much their lives will change.

As with her other books, Devney creates such special characters that completely grab ahold of my emotions and my heart. There was nothing I didn’t love about Poppy or Cole. Poppy is an amazing character showing so much strength in the face of tragedy. She is a woman to be admired!!!!

What’s not to love about Cole? He is sexy, strong, but also very sweet. He is protective of Poppy, and without ruining anything in the book, he will do what it takes for Poppy to have closure concerning Jamie’s death!

In my mind, there is a third character in which the book hinges on, and that is Jamie. Even though he is no longer alive, he is a main character in the book. Perry weaves that seamlessly and beautifully into each page. I loved that each chapter was an item on his list.

Perry ALWAYS gives her readers more than just a love story. With this one, she threw in a surprise twist I wasn’t expecting but totally LOVED!  She packs so much emotion in each of her books that draws me back in each and every time!!!!

I don’t know what love is anymore.

Well, that’s not entirely true, but I’m going to tell you a little secret: I’ve lost the spark.

You know the kind of spark I’m talking about?

Where butterflies take flight in your stomach from two hands innocently colliding. Or catching your breath when you first meet someone attractive. Yeah, that spark.

Except I haven’t felt that feeling in forever; there is nothing left inside of me.

Normally, this wouldn’t be a problem–but I’m a writer on a serious deadline, and my editor is breathing down my neck for a romantic, Nicholas Sparks type love story. No pressure, right?

That’s how I find myself flying across the country to crash a wedding in the name of research, dress and heels stuffed into my small suitcase.

It should be the easiest book research ever. Drinking some free champagne, basking in the love of two strangers, and tapping into my romantic side. That will be a breeze. I’m a pro. I can handle this.

Until I mistakenly end up in the wrong hotel room, naked as the day I was born, with the sexiest human I have ever met staring me down, wondering what I’m doing taking a shower in his bathroom. I don’t think calling it research will get me out of this pickle.

Chills scream their way down my arms and legs, my nipples pucker, and just like that, with one word, all humor vanishes from our little conversation and awareness of this all-consuming man wrapped around me hits me hard.

Gathering myself, I say, “Tell me something Chris and Justine know about you.”

“Hmm.” His thumbs hook under the waistband of my shorts, playing with the lower part of my hipbones. His touch spurs on my pelvis, needing to rock, begging for him to go lower. My toes curl in my sandals and my back slightly arches, reaching for more. “Something they know about me.”

His mouth doesn’t stray from its position against my ear, and his hips start to slowly move underneath me, his legs tangling with mine. Involuntarily, one of my hands hooks the back of his neck as I hold on tightly to him, feeling like I need support from the onslaught of sensation I’m feeling.

I hear him say something, but it doesn’t register in my brain, which has turned to mush as his thumbs stray from my hipbones to right above my pubic bone.

There is no denying how turned on I am, how wet I am from his mere touch, how much—despite my reservations—I want this man.

With each stroke, my head turns farther and farther to the side until our noses are touching, Beck’s head bends forward to meet me halfway. My eyes flutter shut for a brief moment before I open them and am captured by those flecks of green and gold.

The air stills around us, our breath mixing, swirling between us, our lips so close.

One swipe of this thumb.

Another one.

I can’t breathe.

I can’t focus.

Another swipe, my head leans even closer, my tongue wetting my lips.

One more swipe . . .

My heart hammers in my chest, my skin prickling with awareness.

Beck brings his mouth even closer, only a whisper away now, and he waits.

Holding still.

His breathing feeling erratic beneath me.

One.

More.

Swipe.

And I’m gone.

I bring my mouth to his, slowly parting my lips ever so slightly, just enough to maneuver my mouth across his.

A low, provocative moan escapes Beck as one of his hands snags the back of my head and holds me in place, almost as if he lets go, I’ll disappear.

Needing more, I shift on his lap so I’m straddling him once again, my hands on his bare chest, feeling the powerful sinew that holds him together.

Our lips press and mold, mingling, taking, begging . . .

Desperate.

Beck’s tongue runs against my bottom lip, eliciting a moan from deep within me, lighting a fire so hot, so wild, my hands start to travel up his neck to his cheeks where I grip him, positioning his head so when I open my mouth, I can expertly dive my tongue onto his.

He groans, his lap shifting against mine now, his hard-on pressing against my wet and throbbing center. I match his rocking, using my position on his lap to take advantage of his length I can feel through his board shorts.

This is exactly what I didn’t want to happen, but God, am I happy it has. Maybe I really should live in the moment, maybe I should take advantage of the opportunity, maybe I should…

CHRISTIE’S REVIEW

~5 ++ STARS~

Meghan Quinn is quickly becoming one of my favorite writers, and Two Wedding Crashers is exactly why!

Beck is going through a dry spell in the romance and sex department. He needed it. He made some very unwise decisions that had long-lasting consequences. It has allowed him to be single and focus on himself and more important things like his supporting and expanding his charities. He feels like it’s time for the drought to end, but he hasn’t felt one iota of a sexual spark with anyone. His best friend, Chris, has the perfect solution. He needs to join him and his wife in the Florida Keys for a wedding they have been invited to. Yes…he’s asked him to come without an invitation. At first, he balks at that, but the more Chris dangles the opportunity for food, drinks, and sex, Beck decides to go.

Victoria is a romance writer with the worst problem she could have…writer’s block. Her friends, Rylee and Zoey, who are writers themselves, try everything…food and drinks. Nothing helps. Zoey has the perfect solution…come with her and Art to a wedding in the Florida Keys without an invitation. Like Beck, she at first refuses. Zoey brings out the big guns, sun, Key Lime Pie, and it’s at the Hemingway House. It doesn’t take her long to agree…maybe being around love and Hemingway’s house will help her. She quickly makes a bargain with Victoria to go too. Yes, the wheels of fate are turning their wheels….get ready for a fun and emotional romance!!!!
Beck was one heck of a guy. I wasn’t sure why he had taken time for himself, but Quinn quickly let me in on his secret. WOW! He pulled himself out of a very bad situation and has tried for years to be a better person, not just for others but especially for himself.

Rylee is HILARIOUS, but she has also gone through a rough period in her life. Actually, I loved Victoria and Zoey as well. They are incredibly supportive of one another. They were each writers of different genres. Victoria writes historical non-fiction memoirs. Her personality and name suit what she writes. Zoey is a children’s author and illustrator. Her personality also suits her genre. Each of them bring something different to their friendship, and they balance each other out!!!!

I knew Rylee and Beck and their romance would be special!!! He was entranced from the first time he saw her on the plane. OMG…hilarious scene. From that point on, I was totally with them on their emotional, funny, and sometimes bumpy road to HEA. Beck made her realize she was missing her own HEA because she was so involved with her own characters’ HEAs. His love for her made her see she deserved her own love! Beck loves her completely, and as you read the book, you will see the lengths he will go to prove his love for her.

Not only did I love the romance, but I enjoyed the friendships of the characters. As always, Meghan’s hilarious sense of humor comes through but so do the heavier issues in the book. She is a genius at balancing the humor and emotion. One of my favorite things was how she broke the books up in parts with titles that gave me clues of what was going to happen.
The epilogue has to be one of my favorites. It is the perfect ending for them…It illustrated just how far they had come.

This book had it all for me. It was well-written and an important part of the book happened to take place in one of my favorite places in the world. She captured the essence of the Florida Keys! The characters were flawed, real, and funny which made me fall head over heels in love with them. It’s all these ingredients that always has me coming back to Meghan Quinn!!! Until the next book….
