Numb, I swallowed hard and nodded. Then, realizing that Carol from Child Protective Services couldn’t see me, I found my voice. “Sure, of course I will. Thank you.”

It had been a Thursday just like any other.

“We’re closing,” he stated. “I can’t let you go through this on your own.”
Once Maddox had made a few calls to let customers know about the unexpected early finish, we headed upstairs to the tiny apartment above the garage. After I’d come out of jail—a six-month stint for petty theft—Maddox had been my lifeline. He’d offered me a job through an offenders’ rehabilitation program, which had come with the apartment. Its one caveat was I could never be late for work.
Taking charge, Maddox got two bottles of beer out of the refrigerator, popped the caps, and handed one to me. We went over to the sofa and sat down at each end.
“Have you spoken to Noah?”
I shook my head, gulping down the beer. “Not yet.”
“What’s going to happen to him?”
I chewed on my lips, fingernails scratching at the label on the beer bottle. “I’m his biological father and the only living relative he has. I have to step up. There isn’t anyone else.”

This was the perfect ending to one of my favorite series!!!! I’m sorry to say good-bye to the characters that I have come to love.
I thought Kent did a great job in how she laid the book out which couldn’t have been an easy feat since she had so many characters. For example, the plot moved seamlessly. She began when they were still young and dating. Then, she gave her readers the romantic weddings and honeymoons I had been dying to see. Of course, she also introduced us to the sweet babies that come from such love!!!!
I enjoyed catching up with each couple and seeing where life took them. As anyone who has read the books know there was darkness, but each couple ended up with light and joy in the end. Their friendship has endured and grown closer since they have grown into adults.
The Royal Elite Series has been one of my very favorite series to read…with great characters and great storylines. If you haven’t given this one a try, you really should!!!!

She snorts. “No! They didn’t.”
“It must have been my amazing skating. My hockey sense? My high compete level?”

Traffic is nuts. We’re barely moving. The driver keeps honking, but there’s nowhere for the cars in front of us to go, so I don’t get the point of it.
We keep talking, but after a while I pull out my phone to check the time. It feels like we’ve only traveled two blocks. “Shit,” I mutter.
“What’s wrong?”
“Our reservation is for seven. This traffic is nuts.”

The genius of this book is that it is told in both Amber and Daphne POVs. The first part is narrated by Amber. It gives readers a deep look into her deranged mind. The second part is narrated by Daphne. Readers get a look into her life, and they discover that privilege and wealth isn’t all it appears to be. All I can say is the deeper you get into it, the more addictive it becomes.
This is a book filled with shocking twists and layers of deceit and secrets.
