~ REVIEW: Love & Hate (Book One: Hate) by J.J. Dorn ~

There’s something about a horse barn in the early morning hours that makes my heart full. I love walking into the barn hearing the horses chewing on the sweet alfalfa and feeling their contentment. This is where I feel most like myself, this is where I am no longer Paige Vandenberg, daughter of millionaires or the chubby rich girl. I am just me and I am free.

I have been raised around horses my whole life. My parents own a large horse farm in the picturesque Dutch town of Lynden, Washington. Lynden sits just a few miles south of the Canadian border and truly is a small town. My family is one of the oldest families and we own or have owned practically everything. You can’t drive down the main road and not see Vandenberg scrolled on something. For many people I’m sure this sounds wonderful, but to me it’s a prison. One in which I fully intend to break free of next year when I leave for college. I will miss my family and of course my horses but I will not miss the people, and especially not resident bad boy Cutter Daniels. I hate him.

I love books where the chemistry between the lead characters leap off the page and affect me, and Love and Hate did exactly that. Paige is the rich daughter of a couple who own a horse ranch and is a beautiful girl inside and out…even if she isn’t a size 2. She has very loving parents and a good group of supportive friends. So, you would think she had a “perfect” life, right? Wrong…she is the target of Cutter Daniels and his brother, Cooper’s, hateful taunts and name calling. She tries to steer clear of them in their small town which isn’t always easy, so she is looking forward to going away to college. Paige seems to be flourishing at college, making new friends and pledging a sorority. However, it doesn’t last long when she runs into Cutter Daniels. As her luck would have it, he is attending the same college that she is. She again tries to avoid him, but he seems to be seeking her out. A friendship develops between them, but as they spend more time together, Paige finds herself falling for the bad boy. He seems to be falling for her too, but does he have ulterior motives, or are his feelings real?

Once I started reading, I couldn’t put the book down. The angst and chemistry between Paige and Cutter was mesmerizing. I felt butterflies in my stomach when these two were even close to each other. I started out not liking Cutter very much. He was a jerk to her when she was a child. But, holy crap, he is one fine specimen of a man. There aren’t many women who could resist his sexy charm. By the end, he had me under his spell as he did every other woman in the book. And Paige, one of my favorite female characters EVER! She isn’t your stereotypical rich girl; she has so much substance and such a sweet, loving heart. Her heart is just as beautiful as she is on the outside.

Again, the push and pull between this couple is explosive! It’s not just a romance, but there is a lot of conflict, angst, anger, and tears. It does end in a bit of a cliffhanger, but not a major one that will rock your world. As I write this, I went right ahead, downloaded the second book, Love and Hate Book 2, Love. I am in the middle of reading it right now, and let me say….WOW!!! I am so glad I found J.J. Dorn!

~ REVIEW: Love and Hate (Book Two: Love) by JJ Dorn ~

He broke me, he lied to me, he used me and then he left me. Physically and emotionally I was broken and not just a little broken, I was obliterated. I was in so many pieces it took a long time for me to even gather enough pieces to even begin rebuilding. But, the important thing is I did. I’m not one-hundred percent yet, heck I probably will never be completely healed but that’s okay because I made it. I’m alive. I use my pain as fuel now. When I want to give up I think of all my hurt and anger and it pushes me to keep going.

A year and half ago I died. It was my mistake and if I could do it over again I would, but I can’t. What’s done is done. All I can do now is move forward and try to forget I ever loved Cutter Daniels.

This quote is a perfect description of the journey that Paige and Cutter take in this book. After hard work and perseverance, Paige has decided to return to college. Although her body is healing, her heart is having a harder time with the process. However, she wants to get back to college to eventually reach her goal of becoming an attorney. She has a new house her parents bought her, and her friend Millie has moved in with her. She has changed a lot, and she is seeing this as a chance to put Cutter behind her. When she hears that Cutter has a girlfriend, Laney, it hurts. But, she decides she isn’t going to let him break her again. She meets her sweet and sexy neighbor, Holden, and feels a bit of a spark. As she and Holden become closer, Cutter reappears and isn’t planning on letting Paige go that easily. Will she choose a new, safe path with Holden? Or, will she put her heart in danger again by giving Cutter another chance?

Sweet Jesus, this book was AWESOME!!!! All the love, hate, and angst had my stomach in knots. I felt every moment of love, anger, regret, and hate in my heart. I thought Paige and Cutter had a hot, sexy chemistry in this book, but they were downright combustible in this one! I times I thought my Kindle was going to burn up at certain points in the book. The sex scenes weren’t graphic, but when these two are together, they are just downright sexy and steamy. I was lost in this book; I started this afternoon and was finished this evening. I hated for it to end! While there is romance, there is a lot of heartbreak. I wasn’t sure who I felt worse for…Paige or Cutter. I was able to see a whole other side to Cutter. Just made him even sexier to me. Again, great character development…not just the main characters but also the secondary characters. I love Tess, Lacey, and Millie. Every girl needs friends like that!

I am having a major book hangover from this series. It was fantastic!!! If you want a fast read that is spicy, sweet, and sexy, give both of these books a try! I guarantee you will not be disappointed. Now, I have to wait until J.J. Dorn comes out with her next book. I hope I won’t have to wait too long!

I loved this book!!! It was a sweet and sexy New Adult Romance. I was addicted to Brinley and Ryder from the very first page. Brinley is a sweet and somewhat awkward yet beautiful girl. She didn’t have the greatest high school experience thanks to Ryder completely humiliating her after a game of spin the bottle. So, she is excited for a new start in college. But, it doesn’t last because she comes face-to-face with Ryder at a party. She tries to avoid him at all costs, and he begins pursuing her. It seems like he never forgot that kiss so long ago. But, she wonders what his motives really are? Is he really after her heart, or will he leave her hurt and humiliated again?

I loved Brinley and Ryder. They are complete opposites. She is sweet, naïve, and a virgin; Ryder is hotter than hell and has plenty of experience with women. They shouldn’t fit together, but they do. Their chemistry is off the charts, and that chemistry is what moves the book at such a fast pace. I really wanted to know what was going to happen next and well, if Brinley would give her V-card to Ryder. The sexy scenes between the two of them even gave me butterflies! Of course, there is a little bit of angst, but it works well in the story. Both of them have parents who have given them issues with their current relationship. I really rooted for this couple and wanted them to make it! The supporting characters in the book were likeable too. I absolutely fell in love with Fallon, Brinley’s dorm mate. There is more to her than she lets others see. I know she will be getting her own story in March 2015, and I can’t wait to see what secrets she is going to reveal.

I read Just A Little Crush within hours of starting it. This is the first book I have read by Renita Pizzitola, but it won’t be my last. I have already added Just a Little Flirt, Fallon’s story, to my wish list. If you like a sweet sexy love story that is a quick read, give this one a try!

The first time I’d pushed a needle into my skin was when Cadmium died. At first, the pain had pulled me out of my grief… made me feel something greater than the loss of her. But, I’d refused to be the guy labeled as a ‘cutter’. No, I was purposeful with my pain, etching Cadmium’s words into my skin. Each promise, fear, and every other word she had ever spoken was now a part of me.
Flesh of my flesh.
For a brief moment, I witnessed pity in Jessie’s eyes. Pity was for people who asked for it. I didn’t need it or want it.
I move closer so I can lean into her, exhale against her ear and answer, “Years. But forever wouldn’t be long enough to finish what I started.”
Goosebumps rise on her neck, her pale skin flushing from her heated blood. “You’re a cutter? You do this to make yourself numb?”
She’s psychoanalyzing me. It makes me angry. “Oh, the misconceptions,” I laugh into her neck, then pull back to look in her eyes. “Carved, tattooed, branded; any of these would be more accurate, Jessie.”
Pity has fully disappeared from eyes, and now she’s staring at me like I could be Lucifer. I’m feeding off of her discomfort, so I taunt her. “You disappoint me. I thought you were a stone pillar with a solid foundation, rooted firmly in your own resolve.” I place my finger against her shoulder and nudge her. “But look how easily you sway under the pressure. Your core is corroded.”
“Why are you so hateful?” she asks, choking on her question as she shoves my hand away. Her eyes began to glisten, darting between me and the door.
It’s then I realize she’s a coward. Escape routes forming in her head, plan B always set “just in case”.  I thought she was different. She is, I remind myself. She just doesn’t know it yet. “You gonna run, Jessie?” I sneer, towering over her fear crippled stature.
Your move sweet girl.
She squares her shoulders, taking on a challenging stance. “I want to understand.” Her voice is stern, but I hear her insecurities in every word. She wraps her hand around my forearm, looking up at me as if I might be the savior she’s been in search of. “I don’t know you, but I want to.  The real you. I’ve never been more scared of someone in my life, and not because I think you will harm me. It’s your thoughts that breath life to my fear, Reeve.”

~ REVIEW: Nine Minutes by Beth Flynn ~

OMG!!!! I am not even sure how to begin this review. There are no words to adequately describe how addicting and freaking fantastic this book was! Ginny aka Kit is a teenage girl when she is kidnapped in 1975 by a biker who is part of one of the most dangerous biker gangs in South Florida. She is brought to the leader, Grizz, as a “gift.” She is terrified yet intrigued when she first sees him. He is a person no one easily would forget. Instead of being violent and mistreating her, he is tender and loving towards her. And, she finds a love that she has been missing all of her life. Thus, begins the story that will bring about all sorts of emotions in readers.

I am not a huge fan of MC books, but this is unlike anything I have ever read. The characters are so vividly developed that I could see them clearly in my mind, but more importantly, I connected with all of them. Of course, I felt all the emotions Kit did. She endured more than one person should have to in their lifetime. However, she not only survived but thrived. There are no words to describe Grizz; he is truly unforgettable. I, like Kit, found him mesmerizing. I have never had a character tear me up and affect me like he did. He is one of the most complicated characters I have ever encountered. He is brutal yet tender-not to mention sexy as hell. At times, I loved him and at times, I hated him, much like Kit did. Another character who plays a big part of the book is Grunt. He is a pretty complicated character as well and plays a huge part in the book. Yeah, another hotter than hell biker!

There is so much more that I want to write about Nine Minutes, but I don’t even want to hint at the secrets and twists that are hidden in the pages of the book. There are some things readers may not like. For example, Kit is a teenager when she is abducted. But, Beth Flynn handles everything in a very sensitive way. I couldn’t stop thinking about the book after reading it. My only regret is that I hated that it ended. If there is a book you need to read this year, THIS IS IT!!!! I cannot wait until the sequel comes out. Hopefully, Beth won’t torture us for too long. One of the best books I have read this year!!!!

Andrew has never forgotten Carrie and has longed for a second chance with her.  He never wanted to end things with her but was in a situation where he was given no choice. He feels he has failed Carrie and wants to make things up to her.  But when secrets come to light about why Andrew walked away, will Carrie be willing to forgive him? And when Carrie’s past comes back to haunt her, will Andrew be able to save her?

This story is full of twists and turns that keep the reader guessing what will happen next. I did love Carrie and Andrew together and thought they made a great couple, although there were a few times I wanted to smack some sense into both of them.  I admired Carrie’s strength to carry on when she had been beaten down physically and emotionally.  I think Rose Briner did a great job in dealing with such a sensitive matter as domestic violence. The ending isn’t a cliffhanger, but does leave you with a few questions.  I did feel that this story had a bit more angst and drama than was necessary but overall a good read.

I’m not even sure where to start with this review. I don’t know how many times I have started to type something up and just deleted it, because what I write doesn’t seem to do the book any justice. This book was beyond amazing and a must read for everyone!

Amanda keeps you so connected to the characters; it’s hard to tell if it’s their emotions you’re feeling or your own. I will warn you ladies, make sure you have a huge box of Kleneex and a fan near by. This book has some hot steamy scenes, but is also very emotional. There were times I had to stop reading because I couldn’t see past the tears, but this story is totally worth it.

Aundrea and Parker have been married for a year and are finally starting to have a life Aundrea thought she’d never have. The love they have for each other is simply awe inspiring. If only we could find a man like Parker, I think us women would have no need for book boyfriends. Especially with how he is in the bedroom ; )

When Aundrea and Parker decide to start a family, this is when the emotional coaster starts. There are a lot of obstacles that they have to over come, but when you have the love and support that they have, how could you not get everything you want?

However, when Aundrea loses someone very near and dear to her and she starts to rethink everything that’s she done up to this point. Will she continue to look in the past and regret what she’s done, or will she decided to live for what happens in the now and have the best life she can with Parker. Parker has some of his own issues he needs to work out as well, the nightmares are returning and he’s not sure how to handle them. Will Aundrea and Parker be able to help each other through these issues?

Seriously consider reading this series. If you don’t like to read books that make you cry, look past that. These books bring out emotions that not many can bring out of you. Amanda does such an amazing job of taking you to a place where you reconsider everything you’ve ever done in your life. Yes we may have our own problems, but someone out there has had a worse time of it then we’ll ever have.

Amazing job Amanda, I can’t wait to see what else you have in store for us in the future!

Blake was not a happy camper nor was I. He was driving like a maniac. A Chevy pickup no less. He’d asked Mrs. Cho to have someone pick us up when we landed, but somehow that had gotten lost in translation and instead she’d rented him a pickup truck. As mad as I was at him, I’d do anything to see my metrosexual hero behind the wheel of this vehicle. That man in a pickup truck was like Batman in an RV.

“We need to find a Wal-Mart,” he grumbled.

“Why?” I gritted. I was still blindfolded and handcuffed, and I had no clue where I was except I knew it wasn’t some romantic island. I waited impatiently for his response.

“So, I can buy a chainsaw and saw off your handcuffs.”

Gah! The thought of Blake with a chainsaw sent a shiver down my spine. My life could be over. Mr. Born with a Silver Spoon in his Mouth was not exactly what I’d call handy. The only power tools he had any experience with were his tongue, his hands, and his cock.

“What about a locksmith?” My voice was urgent. “I’m sure one could make a key to unlock these damn things.”

“That’s a good idea, tiger.”

“Why don’t you take off my blindfold so I can keep my eyes peeled for one? And where the hell are we anyway?”

“That’s not happening. And I’m not telling.”

Two minutes later, Blake swerved off the road with a screech. My neck jerked painfully. I think I had whiplash. Horns were blasting at us from all directions.

“What the fuck are you doing, Blake? You’re going to get us killed!”
