One word….WOW! What a ride C.R. Ellis just took me on! Do not let the synopsis fool you! I thought I was just going to be reading an ordinary romance about two people who had been hurt in the past that fate brought together. This book is anything but ordinary, and it’s not your ordinary romance. There is love, romance, sizzling chemistry, but there is also a bit of mystery and suspense. All those ingredients come together for one heck of a read!
Jade had her heart broken at the very beginning of the book, and by chance she meets Emmett at a park. She thought it would be like any other day she was running with her dog, Triton, but it turns out to be a day that will forever change two lives…hers and Emmett’s. She accidentally throws a stick for Triton and hits Emmett instead. The chemistry and pull they have toward one another is evident from the very first meeting.
I knew the second I broke the surface of the water and saw her racing toward me there was something different about her. One second I was ready to curse the person who couldn’t pay enough attention to see I was there, and the next I felt my body moving towards her the same way the stars chase the sun
However, these two will have quite a road to travel with a lot of bumps along the way before there HEA will even be possible.
Poor Jade. She has had a rough go of it lately in the romance department. She is supposed to be getting married, but instead, her fiance tells her he isn’t ready to do this. She is left completely shocked and heartbroken. It will take a lot for her to trust a man again, and she is determined to not fall into the same trap she did with her ex.
I knew from the very beginning Emmett was carrying around some heavy baggage. He made a vow never to fall in love again. In his mind, that was the biggest mistake he ever made in his life. But, no one has ever drawn him in like Jade has!
Jade was the piece of my soul I’d never known was missing until met her.
He will be faced with some pretty hard decisions. Will he take a chance on love again, and can he let Jade know the secrets he hides, letting go of his painful past with her by his side?
It is very hard to believe that this is the writer’s first novel. I would have thought she had been writing for years. It is well-written with characters who I connected with on an emotional level; therefore, drawing me into the book! She is definitely a writer to watch, and I’m eagerly anticipating the next book in the series! She left me with just enough clues to pique my curiosity about Jas and Dean. It appears they will have quite a story to tell!
